For some reason I was thinking he was tuning a guitar lower than my bass.
I thought he was tuning a baritone low
I thought he was tuning a baritone low
Tuning a baritone guitar to bass octave like a boss.
After playing bass for a while my guitar feels like a child's toy in my hand. My fretting hand keeps jumping like 3 strings when I only need to go down one. He'll the first four frets used to feel like they were somewhat big now my hand is thankful for all that space. Half the time my hand feels retarded.
I get that feeling going from my 8 string to a 6 only it makes the 6 feel way easier to play
I feel like I need to make something clear here :v: Yes I am using a PRS Baritone 27.7 scale tuned to the bass octave, yes I went lower than a standard tuned 5 string bass (B0 is lowest 5 string bass string)! I tuned my lowest 090 string to A#0 here in this song (semi tone lower than a 5 string bass) Caynug - Overcome: And for people that think I am a bass player, hohoho I am aswell! Caynug - Dysprosium: Yes that's only distorted slap basses because fuck guitars (just sometimes :v:) I'm a weirdo. ily bby <3 Right. NAMM is tomorrow. What are you hoping for?
ily bby <3 Right. NAMM is tomorrow. What are you hoping for?
<3 I hope for the big companys to make 8 strings with at least 28 inch scale necks. I hope that daddario announces bigger strings than an 80 on the market. I hope that schecter will release an good priced 9 string with atleast an 28 inch neck. (they announced that they will show a 9 string and I saw a pic of the bridge) [editline]22nd January 2014[/editline] I hope for more coloured guitars and not black pieces of wood. [editline]22nd January 2014[/editline] I hope for ibanez to stop fucking with their customers and stop putting cort bass pickups in the rg8 and rga8 because they suck ass. [editline]22nd January 2014[/editline] And I hope for more 30 scale 6 string guitars.
Ibanez has some sort of Bass VII thingy that I think is 30" scale coming out this year. There's also a 28" baritone. And at least two 9 strings, I think is 28" scale too. They have custom wound BKPs called Canines in them.
The 9 string will be prestige so I think they want 2k€ for those, no ibanez for me then.
I didn't hear prestige, I heard that they will be lower priced models. Besides, prestiges have gone down in price this year. [editline]22nd January 2014[/editline] There's an RGD that comes stock with BKPs I think too.
Schecter 9 string.. sadly I hate the look of the hellraiser series :< [editline]22nd January 2014[/editline] Not even ebony fretboard, schecter go home :( [editline]22nd January 2014[/editline] emg 909 pickups, not even the X version schecter pls go [editline]23rd January 2014[/editline] mmmmhhmm ibanez is good boy
you gotta be more positive towards others tastes yo
ha
I'd probably call 54-46 a rocksteady tune more than a reggae one but w/e. Is there a Jamaican music thread? There should be a Jamaican music thread.
darkslicer, how would I go about getting, say, that new baritone tuned e standard in an octave down? Do you have any ideas for string gauge?
I'd probably call 54-46 a rocksteady tune more than a reggae one but w/e. Is there a Jamaican music thread? There should be a Jamaican music thread.
there have been attempts reggae skapunk ska/reggae reggae/rocksteady iirc
real ska
Well yeah I guess if you got exposed to third wave ska first and think that is the "real ska" then no wonder you hate it. I had to put up with enough of that shit at music school. I feel you man, you are gonna be okay though.

Different strokes I guess :v:

It is sort of like Pavlov's dog but instead of salivating I look for something to hide behind.
Ahahaha, fat chicks?
Fat chicks who weren't even invited or anything. They show up and they are already drunk and they think they are goddesses. They bounce around to Reel Big Fish and they bust up your new Telecaster by tripping over it and then you have to go smoke a spliff in the garage to calm down. It is a thing that happens once every three months to remind you that you are in music school.
[editline]22nd January 2014[/editline] I'll give anyone a dollar if they can identify the song rush starts playing at the end of that video
I honestly cannot be fucked restring my six string.
darkslicer, how would I go about getting, say, that new baritone tuned e standard in an octave down? Do you have any ideas for string gauge?
30 scale ibanez baritone? I use 15-090 (custom made set) on my 27.7 scale and E is insanely tight so I think you should go with an 80 as tightest string and maybe an 13 as smallest one. Everything inbetween is preference but I always calculate my string gauges with some online calculator to have tension fall off (biggest string = highest tension or identical tension to next string and then fall off tension wise) That brings me to another thing... commercial string sets are horribly adjusted in my opinion because the middle strings almost always have the most tension and the low and high strings lower tension, it just feels so weird to me to play such sets.
that reminds me have any of you guys tried those strings that are supposedly built to have nearly equal tension I can't remember if they were d'addario or ernie ball
