30 scale ibanez baritone? I use 15-090 (custom made set) on my 27.7 scale and E is insanely tight so I think you should go with an 80 as tightest string and maybe an 13 as smallest one. Everything inbetween is preference but I always calculate my string gauges with some online calculator to have tension fall off (biggest string = highest tension or identical tension to next string and then fall off tension wise) That brings me to another thing... commercial string sets are horribly adjusted in my opinion because the middle strings almost always have the most tension and the low and high strings lower tension, it just feels so weird to me to play such sets.
I was gonna say the 28" Iron Label baritone. What calculator are you using? I want to get near normal tension on all the strings, maybe a bit stiffer.

That's tight as balls man, I would definitly drop some and try to aim at 20 pounds or less for the highest 3 strings or else it's going to hurt playing and bending them. I would love to check it out for you but somehow it's blocked by some security measure on my pc which won't allow java to activate that damn thing...

[editline]23rd January 2014[/editline] Well, what is your tension for the low string? I have no idea what's comfortable at that thickness. I'm trying to recreate my dad's old Dano tic tac bass.

I prefer the Ibanez Iceman.

You can always calculate your current stringset on your normal guitar and try to get the same or less tension in the calculator with the baritone guitar. You get a feel of what is what that way!

[t]http://fret12.com/images/NBlack_Pics.jpg[/t] Mein..?
I would totally have an octave doubled 7, but woah. If I ever had a 14 stringer, it's gonna be multi scale, from like 34-22 for all the damn strings. tune it low as a fart and high as a motherfucking bee.
I imagine that one could never reach the lowest fret with his fretting hand unless you are somehow tapping or something. [editline]26th January 2014[/editline] If I ever could go crazy on some 9 string build then I would chose to have the 7 lowest string normal 9 string alike and the 2 highest strings should be microtonal (48 frets) that would create some crazy ass shit :v:

I would rock an 8 with six normal and two microtonal bits. That would be dope shit.
I can sweep pick that with a broom.
Sweeping is for janitors after all.
I honestly never learned how to sweep pick in the 12 years I've been playing... :(
I honestly never learned how to sweep pick in the 12 years I've been playing... :(
It's as hard as moving your hand up and down though. It's worth learning, cos it helps with a lot of things. Finding chord shapes, improv, really, anything.
I've just never really cared for learning how to do it. I'd rather do legato runs and low-note gallops and find them easier to do.
I honestly never learned how to sweep pick in the 12 years I've been playing... :(
I learned it within the first 6 months of playing, although I rarely use it as bassist.
I learned it within the first 6 months of playing, although I rarely use it as bassist.
I've been playing 6 and a half months and I learned the concept but I haven't practiced it at all :v:

Bear in mind I had been doing rhythm chord stuff for around 4 years so I wasn't a complete beginner. I still can't really sweep very well...

Then he gives me Paganini's 24th Caprice.
If I tried to do five string sweeps my fingers would twist into a knot.
Oh no, they aren't even hard. A basic G Major six string triad is as easy as (16th notes, not triplets) e----------------3h7 7p3------------ b--------------3---------3------ g------------4-------------4------- d----------5-----------------5--- and repeat a--------5---------------------5- e---3h7--------------------------7p3-
I've had the flu for the last few days and the most magical guitar came to me in a fever dream it was a salmon pink ibanez S with a hardtail and a single P90 in the bridge
