The 456 is a fine tuner combination TOM, kinda needs the locking nut at that point.

Also have another roland cube 80 at a friend's place and a 30 watts randall at another friend's place
Glad to see this thread remains one of the few not-shit ones on FP.
Anybody know about what it would cost to have somebody check the intonation on a guitar with a floyd? I've never had to bother before.

The shop down the road charges about $15 for it, it's usually $10 but due to the pain in the ass it is to move the saddles on a floyd rose they charge a bit more. But honestly this price changes dramatically everywhere so your best bet is to call around. I know of some jackass in the Valley who charges ludicrous prices for setups. I think for a typical setup he charges $175 to $200, he does quality work but this old guy downtown does the same work for $50. Guitar shops are extremely inconsistent.
I need some help picking some songs to play for a party. It's for my drummer friend's aunt's 50th birthday, she likes AC/DC and Bon Jovi, I haven't learnt any songs from either and it is in 2 weeks on Saturday the 22nd. I just need some songs to add to my set list, preferably some easy AC/DC and Bon Jovi songs. The list looks like this so far, it's grouped so I can retune to play multiple songs:
Drop D
Action Needs an Audience - Jimmy Eat World
Thanks for the Memories - Fallout Boy
The Middle - Jimmy Eat World
E standard
Island In the Sun - Weezer
All the Small Things - blink182
American Idiot - Greenday
Dance Dance - Fallout Boy
Blitzkrieg Bop - The Ramones
It takes about ~30-40 minutes to play these songs with short breaks in between to talk (we've been practising these songs a lot quicker than they actually are so they should go well over 30 minutes), and we're looking to make it at least an hour long. These are some songs were thinking of adding:
knocking on heavens door - bob dylan
jack and diane - john c. mellencamp
holy grail - hunters and collectors
teenage dirtbag - wheatus
mr brightside - the killers
dont stop believing - journey
rock and roll all night - kiss
summer of 69 - bryan adams
I already know how to play most of these songs and I'm arranging them for a 3 piece band as it's just me on guitar, my mate on drums and our other friend on Vocals. I'm going to record the bass for these songs and play them through our PA while we play them live.

My local guitarshop charges like 30-35 bucks for a floyd rose intonation

Not sure about Bon Jovi since I've never learned any of their stuff, but with AC/DC, if you can play full chords, you can play any of their songs. Thunderstruck and TNT are piss easy Back In Black, Girl's Got Rhythm, and Fire Your Guns are all pretty easy too. If she likes AC/DC, Airbourne are pretty similar (and they started as an AC/DC tribute). No One Fits Me (Better Than You) and Live It Up are from their newest album and pretty easy, Stand Up For Rock and Roll, Cheap Wine and Cheaper Women, Blonde Bad and Beautiful and Too Much, Too Young, Too Fast are all from their older 2 albums but are also all pretty easy. All of these songs can be played in Standard (a couple of the Airbourne ones are in F but they sing them in E live I think).
you gotta play riff raff
[editline]10th March 2014[/editline]
it's the only good ac/dc song
i like eye of the tiger
So I was playing a gig in a town far away from where I live, I fly to the city, take my guitar with me in the plane (in a gig bag, they give you shit if you take a hardcase with you in the plane) just because I don't trust the luggage handlers. Day after the gig I'm at the airport and all of a sudden the strap on my gig bag just falls apart and my Epiphone SG hits the floor pretty hard...

This is the aftermath, this shit is unfixable I'm guessing, but if I can't claim on it do any of you think it would be worth it to even attempt to fix it? (I highly doubt it's even fixable though, these are some deep ass cracks that just don't glue together)
If it doesn't break off, it's a cool little detail.
Quick fix tip of the day.
If the posts on your TOM bridge are wobbly and messing with your intonation, a few wraps of teflon tape on the threads will get you back in business.

I kind of want to get one of these to keep in D-standard, but I dunno if the work and money is worth the result right now.

Wouldn't be that much work honestly unless you are going for a full repair. I would just rip the neck off and re-glue it and call it a day.

That's what I was figuring, I really don't know if it'd be worth it though.
$150 is well worth the sound you get when you put a semi hollow in drop d

are these xaviere guitars any good cause they're awfully damn cheap

From what I hear they are not horrible, a lot come from the factory with sharp frets and bad setups but the pickups aren't horrible and if you put an hour of work into it to set it up and address any fret issues then you end up with a decent guitar.
might pull the trigger on one of those jazzmaster clones it's pretty tempting
Someone nearly ran over my guitar the other day.
Got 6 sets of skinny top heavy bottom strings in the mail today, I'm set for the year or at least the next few months.
I really leak the feels, have another melancholic song by me:

Anyone have an Ovation CC44? I'm eyeballing them on Craigslist. I looked at some Ovation products in the store and I liked the action and body shape. I'm really looking for something with a low action that will be easy for a primarily electric player to pick up.

How do you guys get a good dirty bass sound?

I should move onto another song to obsessively practice :v:
this probably marks 8 months.

Thank you, it's changed a bit though. I sold the Dual Terror and Ibanez Gio (orange one) that you see there. Ended up getting a Fender Excelsior (this thing does surf and blues so well) and an Epiphone SG which is now ruined.
The insurance company will give me around 2/3 of the money that it cost so I'm not sure what to get from there.
How much is that? What kind of guitfiddle would you be looking for?
Seems to be around 462 dollars (the Icelandic kronur is fucked up) which is not a lot for guitfiddles here in Iceland seeing as import costs and tax raise the prices of shit sky high.
I'd like another epi SG, but I'm not so sure anymore. Something light-weight and well built sounds good. I play in a heavy stoner rock band so I need some proper grime and because I live so far out in the country side I don't often get to try guitars.
I was, however, looking at a Epi Firebird in Pelham Blue.
