I have a guitar encyclopedia I got for christmas last year that has a section on how to age a stratocaster, I think its much cooler to have a brand new guitar and wear it down over the years. I've had my JA-90 telecaster for a year now and its covered in rust (I've kept important parts rust free) and it's looking nice.

More than anything though it is just the feeling of a worn in guitar. Everything is smooth and rounded. Plus I have my ibanez if I want a honest worn guitar.

Broadmaster, if you know what I mean :quagmire:
Does anyone know the difference between an RG8 and an RG8QM from Ibanez? I know the RG8 is 400 dollars but the RG8QM used is 420 dollars used so I'm wondering whether its worth it to get it. Also if you had to choose between a LTD H308, Schecter Damien Elite 8 and an Ibanez RG8QM which would you choose?
The QM usually denotes a quilted maple top. Many djenty guys like the maple on basswood sound, so whatever you prefer.
I'd go with the LTD. I love LTD. I jerk off to LTD
I vouch for LTD also, my MH-1000NT is amazing.
I ended up going with the RG8, I already have an Ibanez I like and I figure that the RG8 can't be any worse. [editline]30th March 2014[/editline] Also deggamannen scares me.
old but steel panther is hilarious
so, switching out the pickup didn't do anything. I guess the switch is fucked up, because bypassing all the knobs did nothing. So, for now, I'm gonna have to play my old beat-up squier strat.

Guitar tip of the day, if your guitar has a glossy neck and it is slowing you down. Get some masking tape and run a line of tape at the beginning and end of the neck then take some VERY fine sandpaper or a scotch brite pad (green or grey) and very lightly sand back and forth on the neck. Pull the tape off and take some polish or a damp cloth and wipe off the neck. If you did your job right and didn't sand too hard or with rough sandpaper the neck can always be polished back to a shine or over time just playing the guitar will bring back the shine.
As much as I love playing my acoustic, I much prefer the sound of an electric guitar, plus the effects that can be added. Is it worth buying a cheap electric (ie $150 dollars) or should I invest in something more expensive? I just started playing not too long ago (December last year) and don't really feel like investing too much. I'm not looking for something incredible, just something electric and has a decent tone.
Ibanez make great entry price electrica
Fork out a little bit more money for something from the Squier Classic vibes line, they're really great guitars (make sure to try them first!)
I guess if its wise to invest in one I should. I just was told by a local guitar shop guy (small business) that some 150 dollar guitars are as good as 400 dollar guitars 20 years ago. I mean, if it sounds fair and lasts me 2 years that's fine to me. I only want something I can play. I practice 2-3+ hours a day (until it becomes a bit painful), and feel completely committed to playing forever, but I still feel like I don't need anything special. I do play left handed, so I'm kinda limited on trying things. I suppose I could just check the tone out. edit: Somebody locally is selling a left handed fender stratocaster for not much, i think I may go for that.
I did this with steel wool, helps a ton with cheap polyurethane finishes
yeah lacquer finishes are the worst because if you sweat a lot or warm up the back of your neck with the friction from your hand it gets incredibly sticky. Poly is better but not by much.
I wish I could include stuff you guys make in my music just out of friendlyness. Like a small riff that will sound like it's played out of a radio or something for my next 2 albums. I get so many requests by musicians I don't know that want to collab with me but I rather have you guys in there than these random people. [editline]1st April 2014[/editline] I am also trying to study popmusicdesign as producer in 2015. I want an Bachelor of arts in the direction producer
well, I'm selling out and starting an acoustic cover band. drop b don't get you no ladies
you better play some really complex Tommy Emmanuel like songs.

When you're beginning, buy something that both looks and feels nice and is well built. You'll want to pick it up and play it more often and it'll last you for years to come.
well, I'm selling out and starting an acoustic cover band. drop b don't get you no ladies
Truth.
well, I'm selling out and starting an acoustic cover band. drop b don't get you no ladies
Nobody likes my drop Z diarrhea aswell... but I acted quicker than you and almost made an full pop/rock acoustic pussy album, still need to record vocals for 2 pieces and I am done :v: Instead of going "hey gurl check out my album on band camp" I am going to be "hey gurl check out my romantic acoustic guy on a lonely island type of album on band camp, I am so romantic! *tips capo*"

The intro of Little Wing marks the start of month 9 of guitar! Faulty but it's mostly so I could compare it to my playing in a few weeks. I'm pretty happy with it so far.
Bitches love capos. That's why I'm gonna tune to A and capo on a random fret. Bitches love capos. I'm pretty sure most of those faggy romantic guys that girls obsess over use capos just because girls like them. Learn the barre chords dweebus.
well, I'm selling out and starting an acoustic cover band. drop b don't get you no ladies
Remember, you ain't selling out if your songs don't consist of the 4 chords of pop!
