.11-52 for D Standard .10-46 for E standard Playing anything heavier or thinner just feels wrong to me (on an electric that is)
I play strictly d'addario 10-52 I can drop tune and I still have the chunky strings to give some tension but at the same time they are comfortable to play in E standard. I almost always play in e flat though. I had to order a set of 8-38 strings though because my friend said it is a trip to use them so I had to give it a shot and see how they feel.

I guess I want an even feel. I can't stand playing my guitar teacher's strat because he uses .10-52s with medium-high action.
I played 8's before switching to 13's, they are really sloppy and most of the time you end up sounding muddy when jamming quickly and forget about playing distorted chords other than power chords, played mostly 9's or 10's on another guitar with 9's feeling best but lacking in tone, 10's felt weird but playable and had overall improvement on tone in comparison to 9's, didn't like the 12's much, they are more for D standard or C tuning but it's nicer to play D tuning with 10's, when I played 13's now I like how they feel under fingers but I regret getting bass string so thick which is 62, it's all matter of preference, or tuning capabilities. 12's are too sloppy for B tuning and with 13's I get to use B standard, or A standard which is fun to play around, but really it's best to have two guitars with two different types of string thicknesses and just swap around.
Alright so I received one of the best packages a musician can get. Both instruments play great, the only problem is the pickups in the bass are kind of weak but I kind of guessed they would be. Still sounds good for the money, I will do some videos later on. I was so excited I didn't do an unboxing, I snatched everything out of their boxes and snapped this quick picture and then I had to play them haha. aww is it possible to buy that fender whammy bar seperately? my fender has one of those retarded straight ones that just gets in the way or hang down and bother you anyway [editline]17th May 2014[/editline] shit that's not even the kinda arm i was thinking of.
I bought 11s to try next time I change strings. Should I have the rod adjusted?
I bought 11s to try next time I change strings. Should I have the rod adjusted?
What string gauge are you using now? most likely yes, I have seen very few guitars that didn't need something done to them after a change of string gauge.
What string gauge are you using now? most likely yes, I have seen very few guitars that didn't need something done to them after a change of string gauge.
I use 10s right now, on my stratocaster.
I had someone ask me why I'm selling my c-7, I told them and I suppose I should tell you guys too. First of all, my family is listing the house we live in. Secondly is even though I like messing around with it, I really don't know how to play it. I might pick it up sometime in the future but at this point I am unsure, so I am selling it, and my omen 2002. I have a full schecter set so I'm taking off the highest and lowest tier I suppose.
my audio interface won't output any sound at all this blows
i interface problems make my dick hurt almost as much as printer driver problems oh yeah and strings strings strings i used to use heavy strings but after a few years of playing i could get the tone i wanted out of any gauge so i figured it didn't matter and i shouldn't make more work for myself i use 9-42s on all my electrics now and people still respect me as an adult

Man it feels good to have a bass again, it's been quite some time. A friend talked me into doing a cover of Imaginary Enemy by Circa Survive. I remember someone here posting their cover not too long ago. I'll be the first to say I am not a great bassist, anything outside of using a pick and I struggle a little bit. I never really wanted to play with my fingers because I love the sound of a picked bass more.
Picked bass is great. Carol Kaye always plays with a pick and I personally think she's easily one of the best bassists of all time, and objectively speaking she is at least one of the most influential, being that she is one of the most-recorded artists of all time. If you were alive at any time during the past like 60 or 70 years, you've heard her bass countless times in movies, TV, and all over the radio, whether you are aware of it or not. She is a wealth of knowledge on the subject.
picked is the only way to play bass
I will probably learn some day but until then I am still having fun with a pick.
distorted bass is my friend [editline]20th May 2014[/editline] I want to see more distorted bass!
MMmmm finger for that meaty meat
who needs a pick when you can do all this with your index finger fucking james jamerson
My secret to that distorted bass tone is that I dont use an distortion tone at all. I just fist my bass.
picked is the only way to play bass
yeah no 1 minute in. i like this bass part.
fredrik thordendals (meshuggah) contribution to the new wolfenstein game: everything he does just crushes planets.
reminds me a little bit of red alert
Good ways to practice barre chords??
put your finger on it and strum
Good ways to practice barre chords??
Play all the stuff you regularly play anyway except replace any open chords with barred chords. And try different positions. For example you can play something like G, C, D (millions of songs) either by using barred chords on the third and fifth frets, or you can switch it up and practice different chord shapes (and voicings) by using the barred chords on the eighth and tenth frets. Same two shapes, just in different positions.
For my B-Day in July I was gonna get a keyboard but decided that I'm gonna get an electric guitar. 1: is this a good one? http://www.amazon.com/Electric-Accessories-Beginner-Starter-Package/dp/B005JPWNVU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1400447469&sr=8-1&keywords=electric+guitar 2: Is Justinguitar a good place to learn how to play? 3: I can play without an amp right? so I'm not too loud. 4: are some songs only able to be played on acoustic and some only on electric? sorry if these questions are stupid, I'm clueless!
1: No, that is not a very good guitar. It will serve the purpose of being a guitar, but it will not at all be a decent one or one that you will actually enjoy playing. 2: Anything will work really. Honestly all you need to know are the rudiments of music theory, like, what are the notes (A through G), what is standard tuning for a guitar, and then from that you will memorize where all of the notes are on each guitar string. And of course you google some chord charts and memorize those chords, and practice them. Just that alone will allow you to look up and play virtually any song. 3: You can play without an amp, it just won't be very loud at all, which may make it difficult for you to learn how to control your volume when you are actually playing through an amp. It will make it harder to grasp the art of playing dynamically. 4: A guitar is a guitar. You can play any song on any guitar. Any instrument, be it a keyboard, wind instrument, reed instrument, or a regular chordophone like a guitar, can be used to play any song, because all an instrument is is just a way of sounding out notes. The main difference in guitars is that acoustic guitars rely on their own body and construction to produce sound, they are their own speaker, but electric guitars rely on an external amplifier with a speaker to produce sound, so their sound can be infinitely louder, and can also be electronically modified.

Continuing on from the amp, you'll probably want to get one and plug in some headphones. Either get a set with a 1/4 inch connector or an adapter for 3.5mm to 1/4 inch. There's also the Vox amPlug, a series of mini-amps that look like this. You plug it directly into your guitar and your headphones into the 3.5mm port.
