Nowadays people seem to think you aren't as good if you are a pick player.
Just tell "people" that unless they're better with their fingers than Vic Wooten (who thinks pick playing is a wholly legit thing) that their opinion gets overridden.
Anyone know if there's such a thing as a decent cheap interface for basses? I'm considering the Peavey Xport since I can actually fucking afford it :v:
Picked bass is good in some contexts but the tone isn't right for everything. I like Hendrix but the sound of Noel Redding using a pick on a Fender Jazz gets too middy at times. Billy Cox had a nicer tone for that kind of music. [editline]27th May 2014[/editline] JJB from the Stranglers had some plectrum I could get behind though.
So guess who's starting with bass lessons next week? And who's getting a bass delivered to his door tomorrow? [editline]27th May 2014[/editline] Also, have this pretty neat cover of LoG's Set to Fail I found.
Oh great, the shipping's been delayed. And since tomorrow's a national holiday, it's gonna be coming around Friday. Woopee. Thank you Dutch postal service, you're a bunch of heroes.
I have a little question; So what happened is recently I had a guitar which is '75 Ibanez, never played about 7 years. Hollow body, semi acoustic, jazz body and it is probably around 40 years old. But its bridge pickup does not working. I send it to a local repair shop and he said that, pickup is dead and I have to change it. Is it even possible that pickups can just die?

They're electrical components, there's bound to wear or other deterioration over time.
I don't see why they wouldn't be able to. I look inside it and its bridge tone pod is broken but volume is ok. (I forgot to say that neck pickup is fine, problem is with bridge) What I think is, it is some kind of connection problem. Important thing is, can it be fixed?
Amplitube gives some pretty great tones. Bit sloppy but eh. This might mark 11 months.

Pickups can die for a variety of reasons, the most common killer is actually coil damage. Worse comes to worse if it is dead just buy a new pickup from GFS and throw it in there.
well, my E string snapped after like two months of play. Any advice on brand of strings that sounds nice and lasts a while?

D'addario stuff is great, i probably haven't changed mine for over half a year and they're still going strong
well, my E string snapped after like two months of play. Any advice on brand of strings that sounds nice and lasts a while?
Give D'addario NYXL strings a try I am hearing some great things about them, I am going to get a set today. I still have my unopened beta pack, I feel like it could be worth money some day haha.
[del]Anyone know the difference between the Epi Toby Stand and the Deluxe? Doesn't look like there's much difference to me.[/del] Okay fuck that the Standard has single coils and the deluxe has humbuckers.
speaking of d'addario strings, i was thinking about picking a pack up a few months ago from my local guitar shop but decided against it because i didn't know how to fucking pronounce the name. is it "dee-ah-dare-e-oh" or "dah-dare-e-oh"
I think it goes both ways

I "inherited" a Mesa Boogie Mark V, and am going to sell it, cause it's just way too loud for my use and I am a shitty guitarist (started 5 months ago). But I thought I'd share a demo of it I made. Using a cheap 20 dollar mic, some slight reverb (some on amp, some on editing), a stratocaster with GHS 11s , and I think middle + neck pickup. Sounds more trebly, and wonderful in person. I am curious to know what people around here think of the Mark V
I think most of us here can't afford one. I'd say keep it, it's all the amp you'd ever need. If it's too loud, get an attenuator and go to town. And it gives you plenty of room to grow as a guitarist.
Don't sell it, you will regret it, that amp is great. Like he said get an attenuator
And it has a ten watt mode come on now.
And it has a ten watt mode come on now.
That's not the problem. It's the cabinet, and my room. The former is large, and takes a fair volume to get a good sound out it. More to do with the dimensions and acoustics relating to those dimensions perhaps. My room is small, and so its just difficult to appreciate it in there when you have stingy muddy high pitched reverb in your ears. Nonetheless, playing at high volume with this is amazing, it's like you can feel each note in the air and you have this physical feedback feeling which feels great. There's nothing like playing with a big cabinet.. Call me crazy, but I prefer my little Park/Marshall practice amp at a lower volume to this. I guess I could get a smaller cab if that fixes it. The way I see it, if I sell this amp and cab, I could easily buy a Twin Reverb or some other vintage amp (which is the sound I want) and have plenty of money to spare.
I'll buy it for $20
ill give you 20 bucks and an empty can of orange soda
ill give you 20 bucks and an empty can of orange soda
Does the can work?
It's here.
While changing my strings I noticed a rattle in my guitar, I looked in the f-hole and there was an ancient m&m in there all broken up and powdery. I don't know how I only just found it.
Does the can work?
it's a bit bent but it still holds fluid [editline]30th May 2014[/editline] fuck plain black finishes
I'll give you 30 dollars, a burrito and a half potato
