I can't barre chord very well, I don't understand it properly. Do you lay your finger down ALL strings really hard?
You don't need to hold down all the notes if you can't, usually it only really matters if it's a lick or arpeggio on a barre chord or if it's an accented note. If you practice playing with barre chords you'll get it eventually. Something you can try is half barre chords where you form the shape of the top of the chord on the high strings rather than the bottom half on the thicker strings. [editline]19th June 2014[/editline] Also if you are stuck and don't know where to go, I'd highly recommend getting Rocksmith 2014, you won't regret it.
I have Rocksmith, it's not really working out that well, since strumming is a big part and all it shows is when to strum, not how to strum. But I guess I should play it a lot more.

Most of the time a simple down up or just down strums works. Rocksmith doesn't care if you get the strumming pattern right.

I'm playing to be good at guitar.
No, but I'm not playing to be good at Rocksmith. I'm playing to be good at guitar.
get someone to show your the ropes and/or watch youtube videos and do what they tell you
No, but I'm not playing to be good at Rocksmith. I'm playing to be good at guitar.
But playing Rocksmith makes you better at guitar. I'd been playing for nearly 2 years before I bought it and it still has improved my skill, I play it for at least an hour a day when I'm practicing. [editline]20th June 2014[/editline] Also Rocksmith has lessons for barre chords, do them.
Rocksmith is great way to start and to practice, no doubt about that. All it needs, really, is some better note recognition and more song choices (there's no Rage Against The Machine, Rob Zombie, Linkin Park, Machine Head etc Pretty much nothing of the heavier stuff.) and it would be the best dang thing around.

i'm having writers block so i'm fucking around in a really weird tuning. i think it's AACGAE. so much fun

I've been playing around with Rocksmith, just found out that Knights of Cydonia is on their songlist, so that's pretty awesome. My only problem is that when I try to replicate my favorite guitarists' setup in the Tone Designer it never sounds quite right :P

I want Plug In Baby there, but then I need to buy Rocksmith 1 + import DLC... that is really lame. thanks ubisoft.
I think I might give covering Kryptonite a go tomorrow. It's basically 5-6 notes throughout the song so it's pretty easy. Only variation is in how many notes you play. On that note, I love how you can use the Rocksmith cable as a USB interface, it's awesome. I'm probably gonna look into picking up a proper interface in the future but this is about as budget as you can get. [editline]19th June 2014[/editline] Speaking of interfaces, I was thinking of getting maybe this, anybody got any experience with that?
I love Muse. So much. [editline]20th June 2014[/editline] i can play rocksmith 2014 with a violin thanks to mods
i'm having writers block so i'm fucking around in a really weird tuning. i think it's AACGAE. so much fun
i did a weird tuning several months ago where the first 3 strings were tuned as if i wanted to play in drop c but the last 3 were in standard (CGCGBE) and i made some pretty cool chords with it that you could probably play in drop c anyways but w/e
Really liking this
do it dude! song is easy as shit. I learned that six years ago with my best bud. took about a year to play it perfectly haha
I love Muse. So much. I want Plug In Baby there, but then I need to buy Rocksmith 1 + import DLC... that is really lame. thanks ubisoft.
You only need the Import DLC I believe. Not sure though, as I don't have the console version.
http://www.randallamplifiers.com/th_product/facepunch/ i need this for reasons and not just because its a mike fortin designed OD
You only need the Import DLC I believe. Not sure though, as I don't have the console version.
You can't buy the import tool if you have rocksmith 2012 on your steam account. [editline]21st June 2014[/editline] And on consoles you have to have a save file from the original game on your console.
Can't you do custom DLC with Rocksmith as well? And its just like adding a file to a folder (it replaces other songs though so you might have to change the ID of the song it uses.

[editline]21st June 2014[/editline] okay you can play songs on a violin outside of rocksmith too but. the video of a guy playing rocksmith on violin obviously played a violin song thing. not guitar songs.
Playing some acoustic guitar in the open fields to get inspiration for my other album I am working on aswell  Tuned to DADGAD half step down to C#. I want my baritone acoustic guitar finally
Just bought rock smith and the cable. Holy shit 30 bucks for that cable.
the other day my friend was telling me i don't write music like a guitarist i think about chords and their relationships more like a keys player apparently [editline]22nd June 2014[/editline] i think he was referring to this song specifically i dunno i guess he is right in a way, when i was studying music i always felt out of place discussing composition with the other guitarists there. they all talked about riffs when i talked about chord progressions. cept mark, mark was solid, he listened to classical music on the toilet
you can tell it is winter now because i am getting fret buzz
http://www.randallamplifiers.com/th_product/facepunch/ i need this for reasons and not just because its a mike fortin designed OD
wow copyright infringement everywhere not just facepunch but facepunch in the star trek font
My rapper/vocalist in the band came to us one day with the words "hey guys I have this kickass riff in my head which will be a hit" and he pointed at our guitarist and said "play that, dum dum dum- dum dum dudum" and I started laughing at that point and said "dude that's smoke on the water just played on the high string" but still he insisted that we play it and that it isn't the same. Well the only change was that the rhytm at the end of that riff was like a pull off. I laughed so much while playing that he felt not taken seriously and it upset him. I think the next time a black rapper dude comes to me with such an idea or better said, smoke on the water ripoff I just walk out of the room and say that shit is way to high league for me. :v: [editline]23rd June 2014[/editline] also never let your sweaty drummer play your bass in the band room when it's 37c because my strings went COMPLETELY dead after that day... now I need to shell out 25€ again for the new ones.
figured since the only guitar in my posession is a classical acoustic I'd fuck around with a few little spanish/flamenco style riffs one thing is for sure they're fun as hell to play
I want to order this alvarez acoustic baritone but in whole germany only one is in stock in some shop far away and it might even be a left handed one if the confusing description on amazon is right. I guess I am going to call them and ask them if they can check it before they send it out. [editline]23rd June 2014[/editline] If they ship me a horrible intonated 2 meter string height from fretboard C shape neck bended guitar then I am going all hitler on them.
