Hell yeah I just got accepted into the Audio Engineering program at the college here. I won't forget you all when I am at the top. *sarcasm*
Gonna be a good opportunity for me, gonna be able to intern at some of the studios here as well as some job opportunities at some local venues.
I did half a semester of audio engineering, I only did sound principles but it was a really good course for me.
Well that's weird, the first legit bass line I've learned of all things is Creeping Death. :v:
Speaking of Rocksmith, do you know if there's any mods for it? I'm talking actual modifications, not just additional songs.
So I may have exercised a severe lack of restraint and bought yet another guitar.
reminds me I need to post pictures of my latest buy-from-ebay-and-swap-the-pickups-o-matic

What could you possibly mod into Rocksmith?
[editline]derp[/editline]
Apart from a tuner that works properly.
Also, is it normal that the saddle screws on a Strat stick up above the strings? I can't palm mute for shit with it.
No biggie, it's my sisters and she doesn't do metal but I thought it seemed a bit counter productive.
I think I might give covering Kryptonite a go tomorrow. It's basically 5-6 notes throughout the song so it's pretty easy. Only variation is in how many notes you play.
On that note, I love how you can use the Rocksmith cable as a USB interface, it's awesome. I'm probably gonna look into picking up a proper interface in the future but this is about as budget as you can get.
[editline]19th June 2014[/editline]
Speaking of interfaces, I was thinking of getting maybe this, anybody got any experience with that?
The Rocksmith cable is overpriced considering for £10 more than the cable I bought this wee beauty.
[t]http://www.behringer.com/assets/302USB_banner.jpg[/t]
You can get it to work with Rocksmith too.
[editline]26th June 2014[/editline]
It's not perfect:
Only 1 actual input for recording at a time despite looking like it has more.
No monitor switch - always monitors through headphones.
However, for £30 it's a bargain.
I really wish I could just sit around and do stuff with you guys, I could learn a ton of shit that way. Just oberserving and playing some simple stuff I know
Why don't you try and wrangle a few people into a Google hangout? Hell even Teamspeak or something. I imagine most people will have audio interfaces so they can talk and play with you.
[editline]26th June 2014[/editline]
I suppose I should post a guitar shot too.
This is my Tanglewood super folk. Haven't played it in a long time - I couldn't take it with me to Uni.

I also have an SG by the same manufacturer (tanglewood) in a dark red colour. Don't have any pictures, will post when I go home sometime next week.
If you guys are up for teamspeak I know someone's TS we can take over. He probably won't mind, or notice at all.
If you guys are up for teamspeak I know someone's TS we can take over. He probably won't mind, or notice at all.
You could use this one: ts3.prfn.se
Pretty sure it's owned by a Facepuncher, you can make your own channels too so you can all head in there without the worry of someone fucking with it. I've spent a lot of time in there with other friends in need of a TS to use and never been in trouble.
Had the odd drunken or severely stoned Facepuncher wonder in before I discovered that I could actually create a channel.
I won't be joining you guys though. I'm a total novice.
That was the teamspeak I was thinking of.

Wickerman I started learning to play guitar in October of last year and I'm gonna hop on if people are on. It will be a great way to have yourself critiqued in a constructive way. Better than going to guitar center and resisting the urge to smash a pretentious guys face in with a guitar when he tries to tell you that his genre of music or his guitar is better.
And so I begin the journey of sweep picking. Wish me luck.
string broke and i already used up my last pack of strings. broke too since i spent all my cash on the steam sale.
reminds me I need to post pictures of my latest buy-from-ebay-and-swap-the-pickups-o-matic
I wish I had the patience to try getting deals on that but I just don't.
Hey! You guys have any ideas/recommendations for some nice chunky/sludgy distortion pedals and decent digital delays? I'm thinking of building a little pedalboard, but I realized I'm pretty lost in the huge selection. For the distortion I was thinking of getting a EHX Big Muff Pi, but that's about where my ideas come to an abrupt end.

Ive been there many times, thats why I buy in bulk when I get lots of money.
Worked on a red Fender HM strat today from '88 and I can say one thing, I REALLY want one. I am in the market for one, probably black with the maple fretboard. It just looks awesome and I love the 80s "strat" logo on the headstock.
Gotta get one of these.

yea so I got the alvarez baritone acoustic and I am dissapointed in the service of this bullshit shop "music town".
Wrong strings, cheap ass 09-49 strings tuned to E standard instead of the daddario exp 16-70 tuned and intonated to B as advertised! Lose cable inside that bangs against the back and front when moving and a few small dings, the frets are harsh at the ends. I havent been so dissapointed in a long time, how can someone fuck up a beautiful instrument like that and advertise it as brand new.
fuck, I called them, they will call me back with possibilities for whatever. I will be sending this one back, this is a middle finger to a customer not an instrument.
The funny thing is that I called them beforehand and told them to please check the instrument! They said its all perfect.. yea I see, stupid assholes.

never order instruments online, unless it's from the people who made the guitars site.
So the online shop offered to give me about 25% of the price back. I contacted an guitar builder and music shop owner closeby and he said he can fix everything (they sell those baritones aswell but dont have them in stock). He said he can overhaul the whole thing, fix the cable, put on the strings + intonation and make the frets perfect.
I let the guitar builder check the guitar and possibly get an even bigger price back of the guitar. Then I let the guitar get overhauled.
That or I can send it back and wait till the end of the year to get another one of these (none in stock in whole germany anymore)
Opinions?

I'd say get it fixed up. If its the right guitar and the only problems are fixable and the shops going to give you 25% back essentially paying for a full setup go for it.

I've played guitar on and off for years but I never studied music and I've never sat down and really learned much guitar. There wouldn't be much to critique as I can't even play any songs from the top of my head. It's just Rocksmith going on Sale rekindled my motivation so I'm trying to get back into it.
Maybe if I do start playing regularly and actually learn how to play some songs or even just Jam (yeah I don't know any scales or anything, seriously I'm pretty bad) then maybe I'll consider hopping on Teamspeak with you guys.

Seems like kind of a no-brainer, especially if the problems can be fixed.
[editline]26th June 2014[/editline]
I'm assuming you can afford the repairs for it?

I will go to the guitar builder tomorrow and let him see it. There is a minimalistic finish flaw on the headstock and one small ding/dent in the body top which is quite visible in the light. I dont think the guitar builder can fix that one mini dent but still he can fix everything else probably.

that's awesome, but I was thinking more like a mod which lets me map more tones to my keyboard. it kind of sucks only being able to switch between default (which is shitty)/auto and three custom tones.
also... I would love more pedals.
I feel it's lacking a trumpet-sounding pedal.

Wait you can switch tones? With what key?
Wait you can switch tones? With what key?
2 and 3 and 4?
You assign tones to those in tone designer.
I open up Rocksmith just to jam because it's easier than plugging in my amplifier imo.

Sheeit, now if only I could record the output audio and I'd be the cheapest motherfucker in music.
Ok I bring the guitar to the guitar builder tomorrow, I guess I need to live with that small dent on the front.
