Seconding the Scarlett (2i2/2i4) suggestion. Solid drivers, well built hardware, sounds good.
(I used to have an M-Audio Profire 2626 but with the disappearance of firewire I went with the 2i2 for day to day tasks and Use a Behringer X32 when I need the inputs) The drivers on this thing are easily the most stable I've worked with yet.
I would go with the Scarlett 2i4, I picked one up a few months ago and it was has great for me. No where near the quality of their saffire line but I think it is the ideal entry level interface. I didn't think much of Focusrite until I spent some time over at Crabwalk Studios in the Valley and hung out with some people in the recording business.
For curiosity's sake, run http://www.oblique-audio.com/free/rtlutility on your 2i4 and see what the RTL is when the buffer is 512. I haven't seen anybody with one of the smaller Scarletts actually try testing their latency yet.

Firewire didn't disappear, it just became something to do with a spare PCIe slot. :v:

I've seen this shape come up in songs from time but I've never figured out how I'm supposed to fret it
what gives
Attaching a robotic finger between your thumb and index finger, that's what I'd do.

Trying to record a cover and dad feels the need to bother me, didn't know 'i was busy'.
The fact that I'm playing, Guitar Rig is on my screen and I'm wearing earbuds apparently was not enough signs?

Oh don't get me wrong, I went down that route. I've got a Ti-Chipset PCI-E card in my main workstation in an attempt to extend the longevity of my interface when my new motherboard lacked FW, but there were a few factors that motivated me to move over to a USB interface.
1) With windows 8 I had to roll back the FW drivers to "Legacy" ones from my old windows 7 install (8 didn't even ship with them). Constantly dropping samples otherwise
2) My i5 Ultrabook doesn't have FW
3) Nor do any of the rigs in my equipment racks.
4) USB these days can easily handle what I need from it, I've recorded 40 Channels @ 48khz from my x32 into reaper on my ultrabook for 2 hours straight without a single issue.
Support for Firewire is definitely dwindling, I just wanted to jump ship while the gear still had value :v:
If I needed more than the 40 Channels I currently have I think I'd go with Dante. I'll do an RTL on the 2i2 when I'm next at my workstation.
I will admit that low latencies are not something I care about, I crank up my buffers for live recording and in the studio the x32 affords me the luxury of hardware monitoring.
I've yet to find a usb interface with dedicated insert send/returns like my firestudio project which pisses me off

if you barre with your index finger on the 4th fret and your middle finger on the 5th fret, you can easily get your ring finger on the 5th fret of the A string. The chord itself sounds like ass.
actually my acoustic was out of tune it doesn't sound too bad.

You've made me realize that I don't have a standard male to male cable of any kind in my house... I'll try and pick up one in the next few days and run this test. I'm quite curious as well, I don't expect it to perform amazingly well but at the same time I usually run it at 192 and latency is pretty much non existent. For the $200 I paid for it I can't complain.
YES! FUCK YES! Listen to the lyrics on this new song and tell me it isn't an apology for straying off the path. "Back to the strat with with the lightning strap." Words cannot express how happy this makes me.

has anyone ever used a monoprice guitar? a lot of internet people seem to say they're decent guitars for the price, and it's hard to ignore a $130 tele. Anyone ever bought/played one?

I'm sure it's fine (a person can play even with some obscene delay if they really want to), it's just a curiosity thing. If benchmark data like we have now existed when I was first starting out, I probably wouldn't have bought the interfaces I've used over the years, and I tend to keep it in mind when recommending stuff to people.
Which reminds me, I should switch from an Onyx mixer (which I rarely use the inbuilt effects of) to a rackmount (which has half the latency).

Oh yeah I remember just using the line in on my sound card a while back and I started getting used to playing with a 30ms delay. The part that sucked was my timing became delayed when I played through anything with no latency.

I remember 50ms round-trip being considered "acceptable" once around a decade ago. Makes me want to shudder now, haha.
im interested.

anybody know where to get one? I am interested in distorted piano now but I want to walk on the fretboard for more feel.
The random single screw lock nut pads in there really make the instrument.
yeah but can it djent?

i would replace the pickups with a soundbar, play meshuggah out of it, and pretend to play it
I could make the sound of a thousand dying cats with that thing.

Hey guys (and girls?), anyone know where I can find this or something like this anywhere?
[t]http://www.elintervalo.com/images/SPECIAL%20II%20GT.jpg[/t]
It doesn't need to be specifically this guitar... but I just really love the design, colour, whammy bar and the fact that it has a killswitch. And the price is good too - unfortunately, I can't find anyone who sells it.

List of Epiphone dealers in Denmark. Unless you're trying to find it used.

Whoops, just noticed it says discontinued on the site. If that's the case then you're going to have a hard time finding one at all.

you can skate on it too
I played the RG8 today, and the fretboard felt like a runway. I'd imagine that to be more like a huge parking lot.
