I played the old Axe FX and as far as I know there isn't a huge difference between the two, I personally love the Axe FX units. They are pretty much the ultimate choice if you are very serious about your tone but don't want to spend thousands of dollars on one amp that gives you one sound. They respond pretty close to a tube amp, I owned the POD X3 Pro and I can tell you that for the extra money you pay for the Axe FX you are getting what you pay for.
It is ideal if you live in a place where you can't record an amp full blast to record and in a live situation it will never let you down.
I'd better start saving and get a proper job then.......
Shame the midi controller / footpedal is separate / $700 more lol.
Bastards.

Well thats just the price you have to pay for that kind of equipment, it isn't really a toy even though it is a toy. You might be able to get the footpedal for less on ebay.

Yea I know what you mean its literally everything you would need to do anything you really would want to do. Im not sure how good it records through its interface but I'd expect its pretty epic. I might have a look around the local stores see if they got one set up.
Thanks to Tremonti, I've been stuck on his two whole-step major chords as my replacer for power chords (in Drop-D, mind you) for a while now as well as a pretty boring Sus4 chord with the added 7th. :/
I love Tremonti's album, it's amazing. Those major chords he uses really bring out the melody in his songs.

Washburn releases some new metal guitars with 6, 7 and 8 strings this year. The specs are quite boring, especially for the 8 string. 27 scale emg 808 pups and all black.
decided to sell my ltd ec-401vf, don't really need two 6 stringers at the moment

I agree; but trying to learn the main riff of So You're Afraid when never really working with those major chords or gallops much was just sorta like 'wtf?! My hands can do that?!' at first. Now, both are about all I ever do... :/

thumb pick
fingers like a man
I must be crazy, but I don't like thumbing on my acoustic. Sometimes I can't hear it too well, and other times it just had a different sound than what I want. But with that being said, I almost never lose my picks inside the beast since I never play it laying flat against anything like a dummy.
I am an expert at getting picks out of acoustic guitars, granted I hadn't dropped a pick in one in about 5 years until recently at a party I went to.
ok that's it I'm buying an axe fx
eventually

Do any of you have experience with GFS hardware? Specifically bridges? My dad is convinced it'll be a piece of crap.
