Okay so I made a small mistake and the paint is not fully covering the black stripes, so I'll have to either repaint the thing white and then paint it red, which will take about 3 days, or leave it like this, and then have white, darkred and black stripes on the guitar which also seems quite cool, what do you guys think?
EVH would be proud.
The dark red stripes would be pretty unique, I'd keep them.
Alright, I'll make pics in about 3/4 hours when the guitar is dry then!
Here it is: Actually worked out to be pretty nice!

First I coated it with a white base-coat, then painted it glossy black 3 times, then striped it up, painted it glossy white 1 time, then striped it up again and painted it glossy red, the red didn't cover up the black all the way so I ended up getting dark-red stripes at the black, but it looks quite nice!

You can see the black stripes through the red top coat on his frankenstrat, it was an attempt to keep people from making a quick buck on copies by changing small things about the guitar like the red single coil in the neck and the selector switch screwed into the middle cavity. The red top coat was just a quick shoddy job he did in another attempt to keep copy cats guessing.
I'm thinking I might do the old 78' White/Black strat paintjob at some point, I don't know if it's worth doing it with this offbrand strat of mine or not considering I could use something else.
Wasn't that the frankenstrat before the red?
Wasn't that the frankenstrat before the red?
Yeah it's the same guitar as you see on the first album with only the black stripes and a full black pickguard which he cut out with scissors, he painted it red at some point to keep copy cats guessing. The whole guitar was built by him with parts he bought and a PAF pickup out of an ES-335 that he wax potted to reduce feedback. I was fascinated with that guitar for a while and to a degree I am still am. I want to make myself a replica some day.
What strings should I put on my strat? I'm browsing at this store: http://www.keymusic.com/shop/electric-guitar-strings/
I've heard good stories about D'Addario and Ernie Ball.
Should I get a Big Muff or a Turbo Distortion DS-2? Gonna be using it on both guitar and bass. [editline]21st August 2014[/editline] [t]http://goo.gl/vSHB5L[/t] Received my knobs and the tuning pegs, just gotta string this fucker and I'm done.
fuzz > distortion anyday
Shouldn't there be a bridge too? :o
Shouldn't there be a bridge too? :o
There is, I just took it off for safe keeping. Same with the nut.
What strings should I put on my strat? I'm browsing at this store: http://www.keymusic.com/shop/electric-guitar-strings/
What tension do you like? If you like really light, then go D'addario EXL120 or another .009-.042 set.
It really is kind of absurd what bass strings cost compared to guitar strings. Some D'Addario strings for your guitar? 5 euros. Ernie Ball? 6 euros. Some D'Addario strings for your bass? 17 euros. Ernie Ball? 25 euros.

just get some rotosounds and leave them on there for five years that is how the pros do it [editline]22nd August 2014[/editline]
Should I get a Big Muff or a Turbo Distortion DS-2? Gonna be using it on both guitar and bass.
muff
I wrote the most badass riff till I realized it was Joker and the Thief
I've heard good stories about D'Addario and Ernie Ball.
EBs break on me, GHS and d'addario strings have been real troopers though
I wrote the most badass riff till I realized it was Joker and the Thief
The guitar in that song is great do it anyway
I wrote the most badass riff till I realized it was Joker and the Thief
if it's not note for note the same just roll with it.
if it's not note for note the same just roll with it.
This is exactly what I tell the guys in my band when they come up with stuff that sounds like something else. Not long ago, the singer/guitarist came up with a riff and then said it was basically 17 Girls In A Row by Steel Panther. He played both and sure enough it was similar but it was obviously not the same.
EBs break on me, GHS and d'addario strings have been real troopers though
I got about the same breakage rates on EBs as D'addarios when using lighters sets, an heavier ones seem about the same degree of invulnerable. Though I'm on my last pack of EBs and I don't plan on continuing to use them. Their heavy seven string set is 11-58. When I was using lighter strings, I would buy a regular six string set of D'addarios and then a single that was 60/64/65. It feels weird having a heavier everything else and a lighter bottom. Dean Markley's seven set is 11-60, GHS's is 11-64, and D'Addario has Chromes in 11-65, so I'll probably grab one of those to go back to having heavier strings. That or I'll grab a set of GHS Boomers in 13-74 and have myself a laugh. Does anybody know how dull Chromes are? Considering I play a 30" scale I assume any amount of mellowness they add would be almost unnoticeable, but I have no idea.
Does anyone know how long it takes for Dragonfireguitars to ship something to the Netherlands?
http://www.gear4music.com/Guitar-and-Bass/Peavey-MAX110-MKII-Bass-Combo-Amplifier/U6Q God if I had the money for this filthy mother, I hope it doesn't go off sale too soon. It's the cheapest thing around by like 50 pounds.
I thought my head phones were plugged into my amp while I was playing at high volume at 10pm, my head phones were not plugged in, I was wondering why I could feel the ground shake.
