Do any of you have experience with GFS hardware? Specifically bridges? My dad is convinced it'll be a piece of crap.
Good for the price, but the outcome depends on your guitar and the rest of it's hardware. I mean, if you have a guitar worth $600 or more, you'd probably want to upgrade with DiMarzios or Seymour Duncans. If you have like a squire or something, yeah, GFS may be good. What particular bridge are you looking at?

I'mma be using one of their strat necks, pretty nice one at that. I have my alder body blank, and some vintage gibson pups. I realize the bit about pickup spacing, only concern is a p90 in the bridge position with a fender spaced bridge.
I can't believe I'm only wondering this now, but is it generally easier to do fast alternate picking on higher gauge strings? I keep noticing that I have a way easier time controlling my fastest picking on the bass, which makes no goddamn sense unless it's the sevens being too wibbly.
Yea I know what you mean its literally everything you would need to do anything you really would want to do. Im not sure how good it records through its interface but I'd expect its pretty epic. I might have a look around the local stores see if they got one set up.
Those units don't function as audio interfaces, unless you mean something different compared to what the term means in the industry (glorified soundcard for high-bitrate recording). They pretty much rule for recording in tandem with a decent interface, though.

I don't have a preference, it's easier to match hand and eye coordination on lower gauge strings, but I love the thick sound from big strings in acoustic settings as well as it sounding like piano strings on the lower strings.
I was sorely tempted by a Peavey 6505+ 112 I saw in a pawn shop today for $375. Sadly I just lost my job a month ago and even though I'm sitting on a small fortune in tax returns, I really shouldn't be spending the money on things I don't absolutely need, because six or eight months from now I could be really missing that money.
Did I seriously just drop a jello shot on my guitar?
In the immortal words of Bill Bailey, only you can answer that.
Way too quiet here. If you could have any guitar for free, which one would it be?

:v:
Cream strat with a tortoise pickguard, lipstick pups, maple/rosewood neck/fretboard,chrome hardware.
Overall Volume knob, Overall tone knob, and Volume bleed for the bridge.
just off the top of my head I'd say an original EDS-1275
Hohner G3T :)

Reading this, I forgot to put the words NOS for every item.
Rickenbacker 4003S5.
Or one of these. http://www.rondomusic.com/DEFIANT6natbubinga.html

Yeah basically. The next thing I want is somewhat custom, so there isn't a model I can just abscond with.
I would want one from a custom shop, or http://www.vgs-guitars.com/vgsproduct.html?&productId=28433

If you're gonna go VGS, why not get one with an Evertune bridge?
If you're gonna go VGS, why not get one with an Evertune bridge?
Man the evertune is the coolest thing, I got to play one of the new ESP models that comes stock with one. I pick very hard sometimes and the strings never went sharp with that bridge, and it didn't affect my string bending too much.

Yeah, it looks awesome. Definitely gonna get a LTD with one someday.

Custom-built Wilshire. Fuck yes.

played a gig with these guys on friday night, holy shit they were good. the recording in the video has nothing on their live show. holy goddamn fuck it was unbelievable. they've got a different bassist now to the one in the video and apparently it was his second gig with them when we supported them but you really wouldn't have thought it.

something from .strandberg, these things are hella sexy.
[img_thumb]http://guitarworks.thestrandbergs.com/wp-content/uploads/wppa/176.jpg[/img_thumb]
only with 6 strings
It's the boden modell, they release a new one with incredibly new and interesting fretwork. It actually looks like a drunk one made it but apparently it's better for chords and playability check that:

also strandberg 8 string guitars are freaking amazing.
Those look like true temperament frets, which basically give you perfect intonation.
I don't think a guitar exists for me. I'd probably have a collection of superstrats and les pauls and shit
I think I'm going to put my Kramer in for a proper service at the music shop in town. The (numerous) fretting out spots are getting on my tits. I tried out a mid scoop on it and it really nails the Musicman Stingray tone (funnily enough, what with a MM pickup and a preamp). I really want to use it more but ever since I got my Squier I can't bear the buzzing and rattling it makes.
