the secret is practice
Well obviously, but are there general things I should keep in mind? Like best pick thickness, way to hold it etc?
Well obviously, but are there general things I should keep in mind? Like best pick thickness, way to hold it etc?
use what ever feels best to you. I like to use thicker picks that don't bend but some people like thinner picks. I like to hold my pick with only a little bit of pick sticking out so I can do pinch harmonics easily.
Saw Alter Bridge and California Breed last night. It was amazing. I'd post pictures but I'm still figuring out how to get them off my new phone.
Today, the Caynug CD came in! After I get my homework done, this is going right in the stereo <3
So I have been spending more time in the studio at the school here and recently I was finally allowed a peak into the microphone storage room. All I can say is holy shit, let me just list some.
Royer R-122 & R-121
Beyer M-160
RCA 77-DX
Electro-Voice RE-20
Audix D-6
AKG C-414-EB & 451-EB
Neumann U-87
Neumann TLM103
Neumann KM184
AKG 4000B
Audio Technica AT 4033
Crown PZM 30-D
I haven't really focused much on the other equipment in the studio except for the two consoles they have there. The one they use for the analog setup is a Toft ATB24 and for the pro tools rig they have a AVID ICON D-Command ES-24 which we love because it has "Vegas Mode..."

Oh yeah and they have a pair of Yamaha NS-10M monitors as well as a pair of Mackie HR824mk2 monitors.
I finally got to practice with my band (just a drummer atm everyone else has gone MIA) and I break a string straight up.
cool I had enough strings to make a set, theres 2 17 gauge strings on there but it works.

That's awesome, your music will get the attention it deserves soon
My father heard me talking about the line 6 g30 wireless system and came to me today and said he bought it for me... thanks dad <3
gonna spin2win on stage without fearing to die from my cable.
What string gauge did you have on that baritone when recording your neo-progressive technical sludgecore darkwave nu-metal?
speaking of wireless systems, do people use a wireless transmitter to their pedal board and then another wireless system to their amp?

I had and still have 18-90 strings  the thickest string was a ghs boomer. The guitar was tuned in drop C# (lower octave) and DADGAD (lower octave) and for my next album I have the same stringset but tuned to my made up tuning in F# which I also use on my baritone acoustic but only tuned higher.

You guys have any favorite acoustic songs? I didn't bring my electric to school because I'm dumb and I don't know a ton of acoustic songs.

I can play that but that's more or less the only acoustic song I know really well.
[editline]10th October 2014[/editline]
I'm asking because I need new things to play and most acoustic songs are just "play this chord and then that one and then that one repeat until you die or everyone gets bored" but I like the more technical sounding stuff.
led zeppelin over the hills and far away is a good one
it's got some noodly parts in it between the chords especially in the intro
Another one is Wish You Were Here by PF. That one's got both chords and noodles. Truly amazing with tomato sauce.
Now that I think about it there's another song I've been thinking about playing, but his strumming always throws me for a loop. This is a cover but it's a better representation of how to actually play it.

Is she strumming in a weird way or is that just how you strum without a pick? I usually have a pick on me.

What were the rest of them? I'm struggling with brands for drop-Z shit on my seven baritone and I'm not really fond of Boomers.

if you're thinking of trying to emulate that kind of stuff with a plectrum in your hand you might wanna look into some hybrid picking and stuff but really if you wanna go deep with this shit i say drop the pick and get some flamenco techniques like rasqueado in you
Had an epiphony, need to record it here so I commit
Was listening to lamb of god, hourglass and after a long story short I decided its time to pick it up again
I have an epiphone G-400 (SG) and a Roland 15x and n perfect condition. Its time for a massive amp upgrade, 500 bucks max. Need brutal tone, I always liked the gain, fuck getting a PC.
blackstar ht-5!

I've been fucking around with it all night and I think I more or less see what's happening, it's just a lot of nail attack filler in between strumming and harmonics. Not really that hard but it'll take a while to develop the muscle strength in my wrist, it's a motion I've never really done.
thinking about switching out my emgs and getting juggernauts instead
yes/no?
What were the rest of them? I'm struggling with brands for drop-Z shit on my seven baritone and I'm not really fond of Boomers.
The rest were daddarios  nowadays I would go DR strings tho.
How do D'Addarios compare to shit like EBs? I'm thinking I might pick some 9-42s up from them and stick em on my strat whenever I get around to fixing it.
i've used d'addarios forever, they're great
Ernie balls lost my vote a long time ago, I'd definitely go with daddario or something else...
[editline]11th October 2014[/editline]
Can anybody suggest me an good loud gigging bass amp head that's reliable and under 400€? I've been eyeing the hartke 2500 (8ohms 180watts, 4ohms 250watts) mostly but I fear that if the venue won't have a pa (which is absurd I think) then I might have not enough headroom. I need something that keeps working without failing me.

Maybe the Ampeg PF-500 Portaflex is good for what I am searching? http://www.thomann.de/gb/ampeg_pf500_portaflex.htm
I only have a couple nice things...

And my Weezer EWBAITE vinyl on my bed.
I should reorganize my 'workstation' but tbh my only motivation to do so is to post pictures of it on the internet
What width are nuts for stratocasters usually, 42mm?
