I had a chat with one of the shop guys, and he recommended me either a decent busking cube like you said, or they've got a couple of second hand Line 6 Spider IV 30's, which are a bit bigger, but around the same price so i'm not sure.
bring your guitar into the store and play through amps you're interested in is the best advice I can give for buying a new amp. music store workers love demoing gear and trying out other people's guitars and as long as there is no other customers you can play for a good while with them. When I bought my last amp I went in and purchased it without trying it, I got lucky that it sounded fucking sick, but if the next amp I buy, I'm testing extensively before buying.

I change my strings monthly because I like the sound of new strings so buying in bulk is the way to go for me.
In the case of my Marshall, I read reviews and watched all the videos I could find of it for weeks, tried it in store with my guitar and some others from the store and bought it the same day. I don't change strings that often, but I always stock up on the 3 packs of D'addarios whenever GC has a sale on them.

Gonna try a Fender Mustang 2, I like the effects and electronic interfacing it's got. Although money might dictate a Roland cube, but I could use that for playing in the street, cause my city doesn't have any restrictions on busking bar don't annoy any shopowners.
there was some dude playing a synth on his iphone out of a stage monitor the other day, he had like £5 in his case :v:
The Mustangs are pretty nice. I haven't played one yet but everything I hear is favorable.
Mustangs are solid amps, and the Fender Fuze software they come with makes them incredibly versatile.

Sounds really digital, mushy bass and if you have a budget guitar it will sound like a pile of mud.
Also, for those who give a shit, I've ordered a Warmoth Mustang kit. I've shipped the parts to MJT for finishing.
Asked for a Dakota Red finish. Can't wait to see how it turns out.
Next stop after recieving it all would be ordering electronics.
My personal favorite in that category is the orange Micro Terror. It's a good starter head, but doesn't come with all the "Features" which IMO is a good thing.
The thing has 3 knobs so you really don't have to worry about playing with all the settings and different effects with it.
My band's singer/guitarist is getting one of them for christmas with the matching cab. What you do with the Micro Terror is crank the shit out of it and leave it there.
I've tried the Terror series, and I like the sound of some of them. I haven't really played any big Oranges, and the Orange model in Garage Band sounds really dull. Actually haven't gotten more than a few good sounds out of anything in GB :v:
God damn, why didn't anyone tell me about Weezer before? The rhythm sections are fucking fun as hell.

I figured most people know about them by now.

I knew about them, I just never took any notice of their stuff.

Shame on you...

I'm literally crying.
I made a terrible thing over the past few days, failed so many takes that I just decided to roll with what I got today just to get something out to get pointers:

Might become something later.
the tracks all seem to lose their timing and fall apart a little bit.
There's loads of cleaning up to do, which I will do, and I feel like I need to record the guitars completely.
Thinking about making the first part longer and the intro slightly dronier, thoughts?
I assume some of you have listened to Weezer's new album? what did you think? Everything Will Be Alright In The End is straight banger imo.

I love it, my first experience with weezer was in 95' when I found my fathers Blue Album cassette. For me the last few albums were kind of disappointing, not entirely their fault as their label at the time was kind of forcing them to write mainstream music. This new album literally just bleeds Blue and Pinkerton, hell Lonely Girl sounds like it came off the Blue Album.
It's really the album I have been waiting for since the green album.

Yeah I've been hearing those jokes since the album came out, just today I was hanging out with my brother and I was stressing over something and he said "Well, everything will be alright in the end." And then he slowly turned his head and gave me the most smug look I have ever seen.
Does anybody have a clue what tone-capacitor values I should be looking at if I want my Mustang to sound bright and sparkly and shit? I'll be rolling with some single coils.
set bass and mid to 0 treble to 11
I should have been more specific, I'm talking about uF values. :v:

Usually if you want anything bright and sparkly you would steer clear of the tone knob. In any case I know for most single coil guitars you want a .047uF cap.
In the case of my Ibanez the tone knob is completely disconnected because I was all the tone all the time.
Well yeah, I want to be able to roll off the tone without it sounding like arse though.
Thanks for the tip. 0.47uF seems like a good choice. Won't really matter if it isn't, these things are dirt cheap.
Shit my LP's string broke, which brands are usually best? I'm looking to buy 10-46s.
String brand is super subjective and there's a lot of coating/alloy specialties different companies have.
For just bog-standard shit, go with D'addario or DR I guess.
Fuck everyone needs to try these, I usually use a .73mm pick and most thicker picks in the past have let me down but these are awesome. On top of that the owner is a cool guy, I only ordered the green pick but he threw in the gray one for free. I like the matte edges, I will have to try a regular polished edge next time to see what I think of them.

They look a lot like V-picks.
I like the sound and feel of acrylic while it's sharp, but it wears out faster than nylon or ultem. Beats out celluloid and delrin, but for sharp tips or general durability it's not that great of a material.
Does anyone have any idea what gauge is best for tuning a 4 string bass to B standard? I'm thinking to restring my Kramer like that but I don't know what size of string to go for. In my price range, there's Fender, D'addario, Rotosound and Dunlop that I could go for, all in various gauges. The B comes in a number of sizes including 115, 125, 130 and 135.
I don't really want to go for Rotosound again as they disappointed me the last time I got them. My personal preference would take me to Fender or D'Addario. The D'Addario packages list 125 as super light and 135 as medium so I'm not sure where to go.
