how would that even be playable. My friend has one and I find it hard to play in anything higher than B standard.
Sadly my first hint it was in the wrong tuning was not when I heard it, it was because the strings felt like they were actively trying to kill my pick.
Also the baritone followed me back home. I got home today and there it was, on my guitar stand next to my strat. That's normal right?
you did the right thing it was probably gonna end up snapped in half if it stayed there

What do you think to the guitar itself? I didn't know fender made baritone versions of of their guitars.
Man I am sore, had to play drums for my class and another today down in the studio at the school here. Each class is about 2 hours and I was playing pretty consistently, the worse part though was setting up the mic on each drum. The kick drum was the worst because I had to consistently hit the kick drum for about 8 minutes while they set up levels and such and this had to be done a few times thanks to some microphone placement changes. On the plus side though the drum set is a beautiful 5 piece DW kit and the end result sounded great recorded to 2" tape.
Got to play with a white falcon through a mesa boogie RA-100 half-stack today. I didn't do it any justice but my god that thing is amazing played a couple E and G blues runs and it makes even my mediocre playing sound good
I might put some Rotosound Michael Amotts on my strat and try tuning it to D or C and have a mess around with some power chords.
Are sets of strings interchangeable? Like If I put a set on one guitar, messed around with it and decided it would sound better on another, does it fuck the strings?
6 hours tracking bass guitar in studio yesterday, then played a gig and then another 7 hours of tracking today
I am rekt

you can take strings off one guitar and put them on another but it is a pain in the arse sometimes due to the way the tuning pegs put kinks in the strings
when in doubt buy two sets of strings (if you can afford them)
I'd love to buy one of those store bulk packs of strings, the ones where you can just pull each string out one by one.

We used to use those at Best Buy to restring floor models, it's so nice not having to screw around with the individual packaging for strings. I would buy those instead of the individual packs but I use the EXL140s and they don't sell them in anything more than a 10-pack.
I've owned my les paul for about two weeks now and I've completely fallen in love with it. My only gripes are that the pickup selector is in terrible spot. I took off the switch tip though and that pretty much fixed the problem. The finish also dents really easily.. but that's not really an issue for me because I don't usually resell my guitars.
I still enjoy playing my telecaster (MIM standard) but my les paul beats it in sustain and feel. I enjoy the sound of both guitars. Would give my tele a 7.5/10 and my les paul 9/10

my guitar has it's pickup selector in that position and it is the most convenient to me you can easily switch pickups with your strumming hand in between strums, you can even hit it with the pick on a down or up strum
all the controls should be on the headstock tbh
Dialing in disgusting new caynug tones...
My amp came in today!

Peavey VTM-60, got it off eBay for $375, little bit more pricey than what I wanted but for <400, a 60 watt tube amp is fucking great.
Best part is I don't even have a cab yet! :suicide:
yea boiiiii, I've got some vintage kvlt Peavey (a roadmaster) myself and those fuckers are the bee's knees for taking all of my fuzz pedals and achieving the dooms.
Man all last week and this week we have been studying microphones and it ceases to amaze me how beautifully crisp the Neumann U87 is, as well as being an amazingly universal mic at least for softer instruments. We were recording some piano and we had two AKG 414 condensers toward the front near the hammers and a single U87 near the bass strings in the back and the sound was just superb.
Hopefully going to buy one of these Jacksons next week. It seems that they discontinued the trans black version which is a bit disappointing cause I would have preferred that over the Quicksilver finish but it'll do. Silver basses aren't all that common. I don't care about fancy active EQ or anything either, I like having the basic volume and tone controls.

I made something that sounds decent by accident in 2 minutes, I don't remember how to play it though :v:
not bad but the chords sound a bit sloppy. i kinda like how it falls apart in the end though
I'm always amazed with the sounds a 3 piece band can pump out. I went to see Jimmy Eat World last night and the opening act was a band from Melbourne called The Sinking Teeth and they fucking rocked. They only had a guitarist, bassist and drummer but they made big sounds.
Royal Blood is pretty neat with just 2 dudes

also this local 2 man band sounds HUGE, similar approach to achieving the sound of the missing instrument, definitely have to listen to it loud though

I used to think you needed at least 5 members to pump out good volume and tone until I saw Chevelle, and as a budding engineer I can tell you that when it comes to setting up a band of 8 people you beg for one of them to get sent home. It's not all bad doing the setup on guitars and horns but the drumset takes time and then you might have to create different headphone mixes for each member which can be tedious.

Bloodnstuff is pretty great. A Fire Out At Sea has such a catchy opening riff.
Muse is only 3 dudes, but there is no band on Earth that can replicate their live sound.
you know guys there's this band called rush
who?
They're the ones who did Huckleberry Finn, damnit guys I thought you knew good music!
on a related note if you want to play some fun bass play some Rush
you know guys there's this band called rush
I would hate to have to mic Neal Peart's drumset, or even worse Terry Bozzio... good god that would be a nightmare.
"So what you doing this weekend?"
"Micing up a drumkit."
