Remember, the weirder your stage antics, the cooler you are!
yeah gg allin was pretty cool
[editline]2nd December 2014[/editline]
but dillinger escape plan is the coolest so by that logic flipping out and wrecking shit is weird which doesn't seem right
what a conundrum
Weird stage acts are cool until you realize how fucking dumb you look out of context.

I have a volume adjustment knob on my guitar that is loose, how on earth am I supposed to tighten the thing?
[QUOTE=Shirky;46622342]I have a volume adjustment knob on my guitar that is loose, how on earth am I supposed to tighten the thing?[/QUOTE]
Pull off the knob (either wrapping a shoestring underneath and pulling up or wiggling a screwdriver covered with a rag underneath it) and tighten the nut.
Does Ian Curtis count as weird stage antics?

or be a man and pull it off with your fingers
make sure there's not a set screw holding it on though

My favourite version of these:

I love gorgoroth and this stage show but goddamn if it isn't silly
I think Delain's Otto Schimmelpenninck has raised the bar for 'playing a gig with a horrible injury'.

anybody have any experience with tremol-no?
my '85 ibanez v is a cranky old bastard and I was thinking of putting one in it to give it a little stability
Metal Muff is the best fucking pedal ever.
Anyway, how is everyone?
i have it on my sterling
it's pretty easy to install and it's really nice to be able to switch between hard tail and floating/dive only so easily. it's one screw
[editline]4th December 2014[/editline]
for non-locking tuners i'd imagine tremol-no is pretty damn nice
MJT is currently finishing a Warmoth Mustang kit that I ordered. Need to order some electronics still.
So stoked.

can't believe I almost bought an SG special over the weekend
People don't really get that upset over min-Etune, right?
it's one of the main things that keeps me away from gibsons
[editline]5th December 2014[/editline]
was only considering the special cause it didn't have it
I don't think I'd mind it that much, mainly because I'm used to floating bridges.
Shit. That would be amazing. Unlock the nut, press a button, wait a minute, clamp, fine tune and shred.
I'd like to see what'd do for sure

the concept works but you can just cram some wood shims in there for the same effect.
Got my first distortion pedal today and I have to say it unlocks a whole new dimension of playing guitar, I fucking love it.
[QUOTE=Sir Whoopsalot;46611435]Anyone who can confirm this?

with the wrong pickups + amp combo and an overly aggressive playing style it does that but you can get away with some nasty downtuning if you know what you're doing

I don't know of a better way to say it other than "I'm above that kind of shit"
[QUOTE=absinthe;46651120]I don't know of a better way to say it other than "I'm above that kind of shit"[/QUOTE]
yeah fair enough that's sort of how I feel about wood shims in the neck. I use brass shims now

I got my first pedal in the post on tuesday. I must have spent about 2-3 hours making uncoordinated noise when I got it working, it's amazing.
What pedal did you go for?
That Joyo JF-03 Crunch that I posted a video of two pages ago, I got it for $28 on Amazon and it's decent for the price. The sound ranges from a nice clean boost that preserves the original sound to a gritty and crunchy 70's rock tone with everything in between, it gives me a ton of volume as well. It's not a messy pedal and it will serve me just fine for playing in my bedroom and with my friends until I decide to start buying higher quality gear in the future.
How do you like your Boss DS-1?
Friend of mine does some work at a local venue from time to time. Got a message from him this morning that simply said 'kill me'.
He had 3 local bands last night, 2 quartets and a six-piece band. Of the 5 guitarists there, 3 of them apparently made no secret of the fact that they picked up guitar to score chicks and spent almost the entire time off-stage talking about their conquests. Even their own band mates didn't care to chat with them.
I honestly wouldn't be surprised if I hear from him again in a few days and find out one of those 3 split up. Bonus points if guys from band A joined up with some guys from band B and formed their own.

The DS-1 is pretty cool, it's honestly more of a metal suited pedal though from what I can tell. I've been playing some Metallica to improve my hammer on/off skills and it's literally perfect for that, but it's not quite as versatile as I was hoping. Still, it's loud and agressive and that's kind of all I want right now.
I think perhaps the next purchase might be a fuzz pedal.
Finished recording my EP... now wrapping up for release. I hate that I have so many winning riffs already recorded and put behind drums n bass but I never finished those so I just throw them away and get clear with it.
Yeah the DS-1 isn't very versatile but it does what it does pretty good. Pretty solid for mid- to high-gain 90s and 80s sounding stuff like grunge, thrash, ect. I like to use it to tighten up my sound and give my tone a bit more bite to it since the Fender Mustang I use can't get way too much gain without sounding weak and flubby. Also, my EXP that I tune really fucking low gets muddy as hell when you add some gain to it so the trebly sound of the DS-1 helps there too.
