so after taking off the old Super Slinkies and putting in new Super Slinkies the tone got fucked up totally. even if i crank all volume and gain and treble knobs up to eleven it still sounds low-gain when i'm palm muting; there's little to no sustain. what the fuck did i do wrong?

Did you fuck your pickups? Prehaps one of your cables are fucked. I've tried that Wah pedal dusty? Any pedal really

But I think I posted here a while back that I had a set on my ibanez for over 6 months and I didn't even know they weren't d'addario until I saw that the high e broke and a brass ball end came rolling out of the guitar. They sounded great too, I wonder if they recently stepped up their game or something. I played a guitar with EB cobalts on it and I loved those too... I won't be switching from d'addario anytime soon but what the hell is going on.

I use eb '9s on my rg and it's great if I want a quarter step bend all I do is press a little harder

I've never had them dead out the box and the bass strings are good for a few months

sounds good, guess i gotta ditch EB the next time i change strings

I think that's my favorite thing about gibson aside from their atrocious quality control they just sue every company that does a better job of making their guitars instead of actually bothering to step their own game up

Now I walk around with a pair of picks and a mini toolkit just in case the opportunity arises to play and or fix an instrument. My jacket is always extremely heavy and it is funny handing it to people. Kind of shit my pants though once when I handed it to a guy to hang and he dropped it down some stairs while my pistol was in it...

I'm seeing a drop in quality from a lot of companies, it isn't just Gibson.

aesthetically I don't think there's a gibson I don't like, even the firebird looks pretty when it's acrylic [editline]1st March 2013[/editline] other than the reverse flying v which I try desperately to forget every day [editline]1st March 2013[/editline] even warmoth has had to stop selling gibson shapes
