Also check out the ViKs too. There'd be a lot of fun stuff there.
Only show like that I've ever been to was NAMM. It was amazing, but I was too young to appreciate stuff. That was when my dad worked for Carvin.

Will check carvin vik and all the others, carvin apparently made a new fanned fret 8 string production model and they show it off in frankfurt
NAMM is actually bigger than the musikmesse in frankfurt right?
Well I tried just playing with some chords that I think sound nice together. A few mistakes here and there, static from my fan being on (oops), and at the end I kind of lost track.
Is anybody else in frankfurt (germany) on saturday? I am going to the musikmesse there on saturday.
I would love to go to a big event like that. But I'm a poor student. I'd like to check out all the different 4-banger basses. I'd check out Aria, MTD, Tokai, and Mayones. Along with all the electric guitars that tickle my fancy. I really want to get an old 80s Aria at some point. An SB-1000 or Black and Gold or something.

All I need is a better amp, and I'm set.
whelp, one string snapped while I was doing a bend.
Time to replace the entire set because I can't stand to have one string that newer than all the others!
I need some help with playing in key and scales etc.
I was jamming with my drummer's uncle who has been playing guitar for like 30 years and he was sad that I couldn't stay in key.
He taught me some stuff about the key of A and D and I had some fun playing stuff made up on the spot but I still don't get it.
[editline]13th April 2013[/editline]
also I fell down the stairs while carrying my $900 guitar and it's didn't get hurt that badly.
Nice guitar, I don't like them personally because of how painful it is to play while sitting or standing, might be just me, but also my own opinion, currently playing on borrowed Jackson V shaped guitar, I like how easy it is to play on it but can't play for too long because it's uncomfortable to play. My guitar finally died, cheap Yamaha Pacifica, getting SG Standard in two months.

All you can ever ask for in terms of scales is in here my friend, I've personally mastered Pentatonic Major/Minor because of this site, just a lot of studying and playing.
http://www.all-guitar-chords.com/guitar_scales.php
Also try to memorize the circle of fifths
http://www.music-theory-for-musicians.com/images/circle.png
it will help you immensely.
I find the V shape to be very comfortable to play, and ever since I started using this guitar, my playing has improved drastically, it's all personal preference man.
I plan on getting a tortoise shell pickguard + creamy pickup covers and knobs for my squier
It'll look something like this

Well I am back from the musikmesse in frankfurt, it was freaking awesome. I dont know where to start so I firstly say:
The Ibanez m8m and the Tosin abasi 8 string prototype are freaking beastly, the ionizers are incredible pickups I was blasting them both guitars 20 minutes long through an fat amp with some sonic distortion pedal and some delay on/off while some peeps stood around me beeing all "oh an 8 string, woah whats that?". Went to the mesa boogie booth and took an 3000€ 5 string bass combined it with an 5500€ cab and head and slapped the shit outta it, that sound man. I had fun, was watching the korn drummer throw some beats and all that jazz and went straight to all the guitars.
Little note:
-10 string classical acoustic guitars are scary.
-Only dissapointment was the strandberg booth, some guy was overly loud playing looped shit with way to much treble and highs and he was just jizzing along the fretboard layering thing after thing which sounded... to me so I left to check some new 8 strings out.
-Haven't seen carvin, dunno why.
-Need to write more later or if you guys have questions, ask me here.
-My eyes were bouncing from booth to booth there were so many awesome instruments (I was interested in drums, bass, guitars, acoustic guitars)

Nice weather for a short period of time!

On the way to frankfurt
[t]http://i.imgur.com/ratCisa.jpg[/t]
I still had alcohol inside me, had a party the night before and only 3 and a half hours of sleep so that energy drink and a load of humor needed to save me from dying today.

Oh hi ray luzier (korn drummer), boring metal drums with some cool parts and way to funny faces which I did not shoot:
[t]http://i.imgur.com/f2jIzZ1.jpg[/t]
Oh damn that m8m! (look at fredrik thordenall down left beeing all "DONT TAKE MY GUITAR YOU BITCH")
[t]http://i.imgur.com/SYg8spk.jpg[/t]
Let's take that 5000€ instrument of the wall and play it (somehow I kept making a smug face on this thing, sorry for the crap that's been added to the picture)
[t]http://i.imgur.com/za1qZOe.jpg[/t]
yum! 9 string prototype!

and my favorite pic is this one:

That thing was scary to play! Sorry I did not shoot more pictures, to much stuff I needed to check out!

I'm trying to sell off my Epi V. It's a good guitar but it's not for me really. I've been cleaning up a Strat copy that's really quite nice. It's got me liking Strats even more.
So I might have just overdone it with a bend on the high e and had the string slip under my nail and tear it up...
Any tips on picking up learning guitar by myself?
I can play a tiny bit of piano but i'd like more skills.
so I'm fucking about and this comes out:
3--3-----3---3----5-----7--7-----7---7-------5----3--3---3--3------0----0h3
played on high E
and my dad recognized it and he's pissed as shit because he can't remember what exactly it is
can somebody play it and tell me what it is? :v
reminds me of coldplay

Practice chords. A lot. If you put enough time into practicing chords on a regular schedule, say an hour a night for three weeks, the payout will be amazing.
Do you guys have any tips on interesting ways to work on right-hand techniques like gallops, tremolo picking, alternate picking, and string crossing other than metronomes and gently raising the tempos? I've been doing that with my gallops and tp, and I can't really notice much of a difference with my control. I'm getting tired of my legatos being stronger than my alternate picking.
I think my technique is a big influence on the poor tone I get with right-hand dominant progressions and riffs, rather than gear, and I want to work on that!
play songs that require techniques such as that, thats what i like doing
playing king crimson songs off of discipline was something that made me play guitar in like a totally different way
Hit a pawn shop earlier with a friend, disappointing what passed for a music section. The guitars mostly being crap that cost $150 new I expect, shitty mixers going for twice what they're worth is bad but understandable, and used pedals going for current store prices is only a smidge ridiculous, but they had some real impressive lemons:
-Randall 4x12 with what appeared to be a homemade fake crocodile skin job stapled to it (which was coming undone at the edges and smelt really bad)
-Ancient Cort precision clone strung with long boot laces
-Dimebag V with the G string tuner so rusted out it wouldn't turn
-Some nameless acoustic covered in blue sequins that looked like it had been in a street fight
i like how my local music store has an entire wall reserved for stratocasters and les pauls

I once went to pawn shop and they had this marshall amp that smelled like cat pissed all over it and had some stains on it, the handle on it was sticky too, had use some antibacterial wet tissue to clean my hands.
