My walls at home are paper thin, so I rarely get to amp up the volume to normal levels which is probably limiting my perception of its capabilities, alongside my aging guitar. Honestly, more than worth the 25 quid I paid for it, it's so goddamn fun. Solid first pedal IMO.
Although I'm gonna take my setup to my parents place over Christmas and turn that shit up in my dad's practice space, aw yis.
Friend of mine does some work at a local venue from time to time. Got a message from him this morning that simply said 'kill me'.
He had 3 local bands last night, 2 quartets and a six-piece band. Of the 5 guitarists there, 3 of them apparently made no secret of the fact that they picked up guitar to score chicks and spent almost the entire time off-stage talking about their conquests. Even their own band mates didn't care to chat with them.
I honestly wouldn't be surprised if I hear from him again in a few days and find out one of those 3 split up. Bonus points if guys from band A joined up with some guys from band B and formed their own.
I've been playing for five years and I still don't feel like I'm competent enough to ever play live. And yet, there are people in this world who learn 3 chords and decide to go gigging.
some people are just assholes like that

Send me the full track when it's done, I already have a sick chorus melody over that first half riff leading into the second half. Gonna record some vox for ya.

I have been playing guitar since I was 7, so 17 years, and I only thought about playing live in the last year or so.
I've played drums live, but I've never been confident enough to play guitar in a band or anything.
ibanez v is fully tremol-no'd and it is super rad
it's more resonant and sustainy than ever

some notes feel like it's gonna vibrate out of my hands
Hey guys, I've been playing guitar for ~3 years now and I want to wish for a new guitar this christmas :J but the thing is that I know nothing about guitars at all. I do know that I want a guitar that is well suited for lower tunings (heavy metal music mostly), and it'd be really cool to have a wah-stick or whatever it's called. I guess it shows how little I know.
Anyway, I'd really appreciate if someone could recommend some brands or specific guitars to me, or perhaps post some links that could be useful.
ty <3
guitars that look like a hockey stick will probably suit that purpose
are old Charvels still cheap? last I checked you could get one for $200 or so, but they're all really great guitars. if you can find one with an unfinished neck, it's american made. the ones with a clear satin finish are japanese made, which are still really nice guitars

or if you're any decent with basic tools, you can do a warmoth build
Price range? There's a lot of good guitars out there for nearly any budget, but I can't make specific suggestions without an idea of what you wanna pay.
Was looking round a local second hand shop, found an Epi LP Custom for £190.
Considering getting it, although it seems too good to be true at that price. Any thoughts?

Check it out for play-ability and always make sure the truss rod works. Checking all the electronics to make sure they work is also advised.
okay kids lets challenge ourselves and work out some chord progressions by ear

Brought in my guitar today to help for some other students finals, our practical final was to patch in a mic and record a short track within 7 minutes. What made things better was one of the teachers brought in his Fender Super Sonic 22 with a 2x12 cabinet and I was given permission to use it. The thing is a beast, I wasn't able to grab any of the recorded clips because like always we were recording to tape but I set my phone on other side of the room to try and capture the sound of this thing. But it did okay considering the amp was cranked up pretty loud.

Sorry for the sloppy playing this was the first take we did and I wasn't warmed up.

Sounds great! I love those natural amp sounds, sometimes I really get used to my mix/master sounds + pod hd stuff that I forget how much a guitar can scream through an amp.
Also I put up a little band practise video where I slap the hell outta my yamaha rbx 375 from today, the microphone almost only picked up my slapping, I think it liked it.

I was listening to my sister's boyfriend's music, and i came across this gem. He wrote it for her, and i really like it.
What do you guys think?

it's "good" in the sense that it's the kind of garbage that indie kids eat up
it's incredibly generic
why haven't i gotten into surf music earlier
holy shit dick dale is god
because surf music is terrible?
I'm good friends with one of dick dale's nephews though. that was a funny conversation

I built another guitar! A tele this time. Mahogany body, maple neck, RW fretboard all finished in tru-oil.
Tonerider pickups with 2 push-pull pots to get series and out of phase options.
Sound great and plays lovely. I gave the frets alot of attention this time so they are perfectly level and crowned.
can't decide whether to use my pod hd pro + rack or blackstar ht20 + 2x12 live in the distant future
can't decide whether to use my pod hd pro + rack or blackstar ht20 + 2x12 live in the distant future
I suggest not going into the pa directly. You need your own amp/cab as monitor for yourself, also it pushes sound aswell so it's always a plus. What I do is I use my pod hd bean with my full bass stack and simple use it either in the fx loop or pre input jack.
Okay help needed, I am currently sitting on a jackson js-1 i got about 4 years ago as an entry level guitar and want to get a $800-$1000 guitar that has a fixed bridge (mainly looking at epiphone les pauls for now) and much better quality than the previous guitar. can anyone recommend decent ones in this price range? i know dipping in just to ask for help on this is a bit of a dick move
I would compromise for a non LP model if it was good and decent prized. I plan on this guitar lasting a good amount of years too, i'm basically trying to step as far above entry level guitars as possible without getting into guitars suited for professionals.
I'll be playing mostly chord passages on it (virtually no solo stuff), which is why I'm after the fixed bridge (mainly so it stays in tune and theres no need for me to have a floating bridge). I also plan on tuning it down a few steps which I'm guessing will change that as well
guessing you mean aud by flagdog. $800 can go a long way these days and epiphone make some very nice guitars but there is always a slight chance you might get a dud one with shitty muddy sounding pickups (like the dot i played in a music store not too long ago) so my only advice is to go to a guitar shop and play a bunch of guitars to see if you actually like how they sound and feel. bring a mate, make a day of it and if possible try and run the guitars you are trying through an amp similar to your own one. good luck.
