Okay help needed, I am currently sitting on a jackson js-1 i got about 4 years ago as an entry level guitar and want to get a $800-$1000 guitar that has a fixed bridge (mainly looking at epiphone les pauls for now) and much better quality than the previous guitar. can anyone recommend decent ones in this price range? i know dipping in just to ask for help on this is a bit of a dick move I would compromise for a non LP model if it was good and decent prized. I plan on this guitar lasting a good amount of years too, i'm basically trying to step as far above entry level guitars as possible without getting into guitars suited for professionals. I'll be playing mostly chord passages on it (virtually no solo stuff), which is why I'm after the fixed bridge (mainly so it stays in tune and theres no need for me to have a floating bridge). I also plan on tuning it down a few steps which I'm guessing will change that as well
Yeah I have to agree here with Donny, Have a good idea of what you're looking for in a guitar and then try and find your local guitar shop and just give them a try. Make sure you spend a bit of time with each guitar to see if you make a connection, sometimes you pick up a guitar and hate it but then after playing it for a few minutes you grow attached. I used to think I could just know exactly what someone wants in a guitar just by the kind of music they play but there is much more to it than that. Plug guitars into a suitable amp for the style of music you play and just have fun. I can tell you that Epiphone is not a bad name in the guitar world and I even own an Epiphone explorer that I love. If you are willing to go for something a bit more ornate then ESP has some good offerings as well as PRS in the Les Paul type shape. If you can find one in town then I highly suggest giving a PRS a try. Have fun and if you find the one then post it here.
Yeah, At that price range I'd go ESP Eclipse or Ibby Prestige RG652FX easily. [editline]15th December 2014[/editline] Always go to the store to try out stuff. A PRS SE is also a good bet.
so psychostick wrote a deathcore(?) song
and it's not very good even for satire
my mum pricked one of my fingers to draw blood to check my sugar levels, my left hand fingers are so guitar string callused it didn't even draw a speck of blood from my finger. Pricked the same finger on the other hand and it bled like a fountain.
The Les Paul Custom I found the other day got delivered to my parents house (they're gonna "get" it me for christmas). It's in really really good condition, like 2 minor scratches on the back and that's it. The gold pickups have got some minor discoloration but I can just take the covers off. Not a bad 2nd hand find, considering it was 1/3rd of the retail price.
Thank you UG, for helping me find another band that nobody I know has ever heard of. This sounds absolutely beautiful.
starbucks in audio form
I'm okay with 8-string mochatino frappelicious venti or whatever.
A Lyle nylon string has landed in my arms and it is in rough shape. I have already started to my attempt to humidify it but at this point this will never be a restoration project because this one is in too bad of shape to ever be mint. [img_thumb]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v78/modderman2/20141216_195847.jpg[/img_thumb] A list of things wrong... -Guitar was strung up with steel strings at some point and this has caused the top of the guitar to warp -Fretboard has become unglued from the neck near the nut -Broken nut :( -top coming off around the forearm area (took a good hit at some point) -Small hole in the side of the guitar (possibly a bad attempt to put in a pickup jack -Loose braces near the bridge The biggest item right now is to try and straighten out the top, it has already come slightly back to shape with a night of humidifying. This is what it looks like now. [img_thumb]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v78/modderman2/20141216_195913.jpg[/img_thumb] Some of the braces under the bridge are loose because of this, but the action for the guitar is still pretty reasonable. Like I said above this will never be a restoration project because it is too far gone, at this point it is a project just to see if I can get this thing playing. I think it can be done because the neck isn't too far gone and the guitar is still in one piece.
I don't understand half the stuff you guys are saying but I just started learning to play the guitar so hi everyone I learnt to play Last Kiss by Pearl Jam. E minor chord in G feels like a dream compared to C. Gonna be some time before my hand gets used to that contortionism

I don't even play guitar but there's no active bass thread so I just hang out in here [editline]17th December 2014[/editline] like I own at least 8 that I remember but haven't touched anything with more than 4 strings in a solid 6 months
I've been following this guy since months... so atleast there's one guy that knows this band aswell
my new strings finally came today, I've been waiting nearly 2 weeks to play guitar again. I got a set of 38-8 strings, I set the action of my guitar as low as possible so that I have to put in no effort to play guitar with these strings.
guys after like 2 months of starting the project, i'm finally resuming the work me and my dad were doing on the cabinet we were building. the speakers finally came in and we're going to get those in this weekend.
guitar jokes best jokes
[img_thumb]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v78/modderman2/20141217_211749.jpg[/img_thumb] That had to happen, I can see why the fretboard came off. They barely used any glue, the fretboard pretty much fell off with barely any effort.
I always write rude messages in hidden places like that on bikes at the shop one time I unboxed some tires and one of them had something written in chinese on the inside
I always try and sneak in a hidden messages where I can, this guitar is mine but I figure if I get rid of it and someone finds it or years later I find it it will be a laugh.
I start getting paid by people on fiver for my mastering offerings :v: degge come buy my 5$ mastering for the album you are working on im waiting for you :v: To add guitar relevance: -ss.org is currently fighting to get an 2015/16 7 string baritone made by prs out. -I can't wait to hear the anouncements for 2015, many leaks been happening bout guitars currently in build by the big manufacturing companies. Many new 7 string guitars coming. -Carvin soon starts selling headless sandberg alike perfect guitars -Dingwall sell bass guitars that have a fanned fret from 37-33.25 (inch) -There is a bass guitar by kalium that haves a 40 inch scale and it's highest string is tuned to the lowest string of a 5 string standard tuned bass (B) next lower goes (F#) and so on, the rest is drop whale.
I am excite and depressed by my empty Peanuts wallet.
I have a bass with a 38 inch scale that's tuned an octave below a regular 6 string bass.
I have a bass with a 38 inch scale that's tuned an octave below a regular 6 string bass.
wanna collab on my next album?
I have a 4 string 34" scale tuned to E standard, I'm more plain than vanilla.
