refret, but use stainless steel fret wire. they last forever.

the tools you need to refret a guitar are flush ground end nippers and a rubber mallet, but unless the thing is 15 years or older and you've been using stainless strings it's whole life you're not likely to need a refret. chances are you just need them recrowned

if you don't have the tools already it'll cost you about $40 to refret a neck yourself. You can get cheaper necks (guitarfetish.com has really nice strat necks for pretty cheap, just don't get any of their factory buyout stuff) but most necks start at around $100

I've got a completely perfect guitarfetish neck on my strat that I wouldn't part with for any less than $150 even though it cost me $30 to buy a few years back. it has the smoothest most perfect satin finish I've ever seen and a beautiful flame maple pattern. it really looks like something you'd get on a custom shop PRS

You left out leveling files and crowning files plus sandpaper and such to polish the frets.

I saw some dude playing at an Irish pub on the weekend because I thought it would be fun to get really drunk at midday. He had a really cool acoustic guitar he said he built for $3500. It kind of had a telecaster body but it was hollowed out like an acoustic guitar and it looked like an acoustic guitar and sounded like one and it was fucking awesome. He also had a really nice effects set up, when he turned distortion on, you could still hear the clarity of the guitar but with a nice smooth distortion over the top.

do you mean it was an archtop tele or a thinline tele? thinlines are really cool

No it was an acoustic guitar with a really thin body. Thinline teles are cool I have a JA-90 Thinline deluxe it's rad.

I got the Elder Scrolls anthology last year which came with this ESO sticker:

whats a good amp for an electric guitar? had one for roughly a year now and the amp I currently have (Morgan GC20R) is starting to sound sort of muffled as if there's a blanket in front of the speaker. no idea what to look for and what's good when it comes to these things
