coated strings are garbage
I've always used ernie ball strings, I can buy a pack for like $4 so I just change them when I feel like it.
Since we've been talking about strings lately... I usually use Ernie Balls Hybrid Slinkies, 9's. They work. But I wonder if I can get some better strings. I play alternative, worship music, post-rock, ambience, etc. I need something with strong mid-range punch, clarity, and sustain for days (doesn't everybody?). Suggestions? I saw a few people suggest Rotosounds strings, I'm willing to try those. Here's an example, at 1:20, and 2:34 (put on your shields, it's a worship song) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=llZKgt-1TlQ
I've been using this set of elixirs on my guitar for almost a year now. The plain strings still sound the same, and show no signs of rust whatsoever, which is awesome, considering every pack I buy here in my almost-swamp city are piles of rust by the end of the first week of use. The wound strings don't sound super new, shiny and bright, but neither do they sound dead like rubber strings.

I wish things were cheaper here. [editline]5th January 2015[/editline] Bass strings are another thing altogether. I used to be able to get Fender strings for £15 but they've gone up to £20 and Ernie Ball strings are £25.

Ernie Balls have never been more than £6 for me, and bass strings as far as I've seen are never more than 20.
My elixir 09-42 buzz on my 5th aka A string, it didnt buzz on my 09-46, do I need to set the action or just get thicker strings?
So I just received my Peavey ValveKing 112 today, (stock, older model) and almost immediately I heard the speaker problems I was warned about. I was thinking about swapping out the speaker for this one as a budget, refined Celestion 30: http://wgs4.com/Retro30 or the Man O War: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/accessories/eminence-man-o-war-12-guitar-speaker#productDetail Any other suggestions? Again, my styles are Alternative, post-rock, ambience, worship music, etc.

I have ordered strings online before but usually if I'm changing strings I want them as soon as, I don't want to wait for them. [editline]5th January 2015[/editline]
Fender strings are d'addario OEM as far as i know
That explains why I like Fender strings as much as D'Addario. I put a set of D'Addarios on my Kramer to replace the 2 year old Rotosounds I had on it and it's made me appreciate the tone of it all over again. I've been playing it more than my P bass recently.

heh this is a funny little piece of engineering
I was considering getting a stetsbar for my LP anyway, looks like that's changing.
This year's Ibanez lineup is making me moist. That 8-string singlecut unff. White UV with white pyramid inlays oh yeah. The Roadcores and the fanned fret basses...
Thomann is now saying that my order has not yet been commissioned but will soon be processed and shipped. The product page is saying that the Kramer is "on request" now as well which has changed from "out of stock". excite is me
Just tried my first pack of D'Addarios. Got the .12s. So far I like them but I need to let them stretch out a little before I can say for sure how much I like them. They're better than the Curt Mangan's I used to use and they're slightly below if not on par with the Elixir's I had on my guitar beforehand. edit: I think these are my new favorite strings. Sound wise they're the best sounding strings I've tried (at least brand new , I'll see how they hold up once they wear out a bit), and they play only marginally less good than the Elixirs.
I also recently got my first pair of D'Addarios. Got some .08 NYXLs and they're pretty great. Better than EB .08s in my opinion.
Just finished building a lap steel that I was working on slowly for the past few months. [t]http://i.imgur.com/6aa0DAS.jpg?1[/t] Now all I have to do is learn how to play it...
holy shit it's been dispatched yes I've got a long weekend off of work next week so I should be home for once when they try to deliver something
picking up my new and first amp head tomorrow woo-oo woo
Turns out all my amp issues were actually because of my wah, so I guess thats good.
Ordered myself a new wah, Morley M2WV so I've got both wah and volume. Also I got a call from gear4music after wanting to cancel my order after they pushed my order back by another 2 weeks, they asked if I wanted what they had in stock delivered now and then they would deliver the thing they didn't have later (I think it was the Neo Clone that was out iirc). So that's p cool. [editline]10th January 2015[/editline] stupid automerge

I know that when Norwegian trawlers dock here all of the crews always get really fucked up in the pubs since the booze here is so cheap in comparison.
How low do you people have your straps? And what affects how low you have it?
How low do you people have your straps? And what affects how low you have it?
About this low... [img_thumb]https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xap1/v/t1.0-9/1911915_10201370733570790_1709483396_n.jpg?oh=7652a05d18d831856a9ae9bf1585adae&oe=552A0690&__gda__=1429342282_e20ec4a12420035780647b657cc1b712[/img_thumb] It all kind of depends on the guitar but the main thing is making sure it isn't a pain to reach certain notes as well as being able to palm mute comfortably.
