why not just play a bass
Because it would sound like this thing I made: or this: [editline]5th June 2013[/editline]
Have you ever written something in E standard haha your mixes are getting better and better!
Thank you man, yea I have plenty of stuff in E standard... I think one song :v: even my acoustic guitar is in a weird c# tuning.
as a bass player I really do get the low notes thing but it seems like it would be less of a hassle to have the full 34 inch scale when you're playing those notes.

It's the same reason 8 string guitar's are beeing used for that stuff, I use an 6 string prs baritone which gets the job done and brings me results. You can't just play the same stuff and have 3 bass guitars in it, it won't sound that well. Also scale is no hassle for me, I have an 27.7 scale with an 90string which is tight.
So I found an old classical guitar in the garage, according to the inside of it it's a "canora" brand guitar, I'm guessing it's canadian from the name and it's about 30-40 years old. It looks like it's in good nick, just a couple dents and a couple centimetres of dust, it's never been kept in a case or anything, just left out. Is there anything I should check for before stringing it up or would it be fine? I know nothing about acoustic guitars.
I have a pretty nice guitar, cost around 450$, has a built in tuner and plugs into an amp as well
that looks so incredibly retro :v:

I've broken my A string in the the exact same place four times in the past few months. It always breaks at the bridge. Is it just a crazy coincidence or is there something wrong? The bridge is exactly like a strat's if that helps

This is the easiest way. If you can't get your hands on this stuff then the next best thing is take an old A or E string and run it through the bridge like the abrasive cord.
Hey, can anyone recommend some good bass lines from songs to learn for a beginner? I started playing bass two days ago. I already have Good Times by Chic down.
Hey, can anyone recommend some good bass lines from songs to learn for a beginner. I started playing bass two days ago. Below the Sky was the first song I ever learned on bass. Easy to figure out. [editline]5th June 2013[/editline] Actually a lot of song by If These Trees Could Talk have pretty simple but nice bass lines.
Would it be dumb to buy this guitar? http://www2.gibson.com/Products/Electric-Guitars/Les-Paul/Gibson-USA/LPJ.aspx I've only been playing for 5 months on a Squier Strat and was looking for an upgrade. I was able to bargain the price down to $600 new.
from what I've heard the junior series is pretty decent so probably not

I don't think it'd be dumb, but you'd be doing yourself a real service by going into a big guitar store and trying a bunch of stuff in that same price range just to see what fits you. And even if you end up going with a junior, which there's no reason not to they're great, you might get an SG junior instead of the LP, you just have to go and see which one feels better to you. The reason I say this is from personal experience, I used to prefer the look of the les paul shape, I kinda hated the way SGs look. The horns and stuff kind of makes it look tryhard aggressive to me, but looks don't mean anything; Man it fits my body way better than any guitar I've ever held before, it melts into me. The SG is absolutely made for me, and I never would have found that out if I hadn't tried some out. Also by going into a store you may find an older Gibson that is out of production and maybe on clearance that has more features, but is cheaper than the juniors, or you might find a great deal on a used one. For example, near me, there's a guy on craigslist offering an SG Classic for $600, with the gloss finish and the binding, that's practically an SG standard with P90s for the same price as the satin finished SGj. The new junior series are great guitars, but before you go and buy a brand new one of those just make damn sure you're not missing out on something better for the same price, it's worth your time to go look around.

I am glad I did, when I bought my first guitar I went to guitar center and played about a dozen guitars and before I arrived I had plans to go for a superstrat style Dean. But I ended up with my most priced possession.
So I've been thinking about changing my pickups on my guitar, its a cheap low cost HSH strat from a local brand, my local luthier has offered me to change my neck and bridge humbuckers to Seymour Duncan's '59 for a relatively low-cost, I play mostly distorted punk stuff like The Offspring, and some stuff like Nirvana, but I play a lot of clean stuff like Red Hot Chilli Peppers, are they any good for that?
they are pretty versatile yes

It is surprisingly versatile.

meshuggah is shit

So I got my Soviet bass now, and, as expected from reading online, the output is reeeeally weak. I'm going to need either a booster pedal that works well with bass or some new pickups to replace the stock ones. Now that I have the bass I feel kind of bad for wanting to mod it when it's so old, it feels like blasphemy.

This is my band's EP artwork. It wasn't finished at this stage and how has the band name and track listing on it. It is entirely hand painted with acrylic paint. It is amazing.
Man this guy could play the hell out of the guitar. And he was blind. Whats my excuse haha. R.I.P. Jeff I remember when my father introduced me to his music never never told me he was blind, and I always wondered why he played his guitar like that.
