bass is still more important than guitar in any band that isn't shit
I was being facetious, a gnarly bass tone is pretty much obligatory for any metal band
Is there a term for a very slightly smaller guitar? My friend has a Seagull acoustic which is just slightly smaller and has just a little bit less space between strings.
I just think the axefx is kind of an overkill and you can get far quicker results with cheaper gear.
well you know there's this group of things the axe fx ships with called "presets"
Hey don't throw me in that direction (also guitar-only monkey can't be applied to me :v:) :( I spent time on my tones too I don't think these tons of recordings on my soundcloud sound like a wet fart, I just think the axefx is kind of an overkill and you can get far quicker results with cheaper gear.
I mostly only look on these typical sevenstring.org users that buy these axefx and dial in the shittiest djent tone they can make and I just need to ask myself "why".
The Axe FX is a professional piece of equipment, it can emulate a lot of different amps out there and it does a damn good job. A lot of touring guitarists get an Axe FX to dial in the sound of their existing amp, then instead of hauling around a ton of amps they carry around usually 2 Axe Fx units and they end up with a system that is usually more reliable than an amp and easier to haul around. I am not saying I am the kind of guy who will be carrying around an Axe FX instead of an amp but when it comes to reliability and consistency you cannot go wrong with the Axe FX.
You can go for a POD and what not and a lot of people do but some people prefer the way the Axe Fx impersonates amps. I know for me I would prefer an Axe Fx to a POD, and I loved my POD X3 pro. But if I was gonna tour I would buy an Axe FX. Just for piece of mind.
Can't wait to see Maiden again.

So I played a guitar with True Temperament frets today, what a weird thing. It feels little weird at first but it does makes sense after a while. I am not sure it would work for me thought because string bending is not really an option. It works in certain spots but others... Not so much. It's very nice for playing chords though, maybe a little vibrato. I really do like the idea, it's nice to be able to play chords perfectly in tune all over the neck but I don't think I will be buying it anytime soon.
the thing about true temperament is that you can only play one figure in tune all over the neck. the reason that equal temperament is standard is because it's close enough everywhere
If you want perfect tuning, get really good at fretless. you'll never get it with any fretted instrument.
Or multiscale, since that compromises nicely between ease of use and correctness.

I love both SD and Dimarzio, I have both in my Ibanez.
Got it ordered yesterday, shipping said 4-6 days, might end up getting here friday though
I want to order the new Duncan Steve Harris pickups for my P, maybe a J and route it in, and I really want to get an EMG J for my Kramer, the MMCS is good but it lacks bottom end sometimes and that sucks. Shame it doesn't have the solderless system.
It's so hilarious to watch girls get all loved up when you play guitar live... Had my first cool acoustic spontanous on the fly gig in an garden on a house party of 30 people and got told afterwards that 2 girls want something from me, you could also see the dreamy eyes instantly when I started playing and singing it's quite funny.
I seriously didn't thought it's that easy.
I knew a guy who only played guitar for chicks, he joined a small band and played a few shows which weren't great at all. He is now flipping burgers at McDonalds and has been single for 5 years. Moral of the story, don't play guitar just for chicks or you will be forever alone flipping burgers at McDonalds... Maybe.
or for at least 5 years

sorry for any typos posting from my phone
so my D string got damaged today. http://imgur.com/qta74RR.jpg
what's weird is that is broke on most of the outer winding, I had just gotten new strings last night, and while it's normal for them to pop when tuning up, I was down tuning them from E flat to C standard. I had a fairly intense jamming session with one of my friends last night but nothing that would do way too much damage. what could have cause this/how can I prevent it because I don't have any more cash for strings. the strings were from a pack of .11-.58 guages. forget which brand

You need lighter strings. There's too much tension on the string so the core snaps while the winding stays in shape.
It might be your scale length, or even the type of guitar. Strat types and les pauls do sometimes have those issues, mostly due to the 24" scale

hes down tuning to C with 11-58's tension is not the issue
i use 13-56 on a 25.5" scale guitar and that has never happened to my strings
