I've never understood why Karl Sanders from Nile uses 70s for Drop A.
His custom Dean V guitar only has 22 frets so maybe it's 24.75" scale. I can do A with 60s fine so he must really like fat strings
hes down tuning to C with 11-58's tension is not the issue
i use 13-56 on a 25.5" scale guitar and that has never happened to my strings
I'm running the same setup but tuned to half a step above standard and haven't broken a string in years, its definitely a matter of his strings were shit.
anyone got tabs for this? :(

can only find the intro tab.

That sounds reasonable. I like a 60 for a B on 25.5" scale.

that is heavier than my bass A string
why
Well...

At least I know it's not cheap plastic anymore, I was cleaning my fretboard to I had the strings moved off to the side and when I went to go put the D string back into the slot it caused that chip. Thank god it didn't mess up the actual slot. But now it really needs to be replaced.
just played a kickass show for a family reunion. got a few tips from them, but people in the bar came out and we ended up with $200+ from tips as well as money from the show. shit was so awesome, they offered to buy us a new PA because ours is such shit. and we're playing again july 20th, opening for the river rats.
today couldn't be better
When i get my Bridge pup replaced, would it be possible to re-wire everything so that:
Middle position on the switch is only the bridge but coil-split (no neck pup involved)
Tone pot becomes Neck volume (leaving the volume pot as bridge volume)
The pots, yes. All a tone pot has to do to be a volume pot is to have a capacitor removed. The switch, depends on the switch, but all it takes is shunting two wires so I can't imagine why it wouldn't work with your normal threeway. Can't imagine why you'd want to do it either, but w/e.
I'm not a fan of the middle sound, i'd rather have the single-coil twangy bridge sound instead.
It's a plain 3-way switch.
I get not liking having two humbuckers going at the same time but push/pull pots and wiring them isn't that time consuming or expensive if you have somebody else do it, and you get more tones out of it. Split/full, split/split, and full/split can be really fun depending on the pickups.

looks quite cool shame they're already sold out
I don't usually record myself jamming to songs especially when I don't even really know how to play them but I flicked on my webcam and just played man in the box by alice in chains. I don't really know how to play the song but it's an easy tune so meh.

Ignore the sweat soaked hair and horribly improvised solo in the second chorus haha.
I did decide to buy the Fender MA-1 3/4 sized acoustic guitar. If you're looking for something to take traveling or camping, definitely look into it. For the price it's unbeatable. I'll try and upload a video soon.
One of my guitar strings snapped after not even playing it for a few days :(
Hey guys! Could someone please tell me how to do the metal scream like bend? I can't find anything on youtube.

do you mean pinch harmonics or what?
Hey guys! Could someone please tell me how to do the metal scream like bend? I can't find anything on youtube.
Man I was gonna do a video on pinch harmonics a while back but there are too many good videos already explaining it. But yeah like Desum said look up pinch harmonics on youtube. If that is what you are talking about there are plenty of tutorials around.
Don't be disheartened if you can't do squealies straight away though, you have to sort of get used to pinching the string between the pick and thumb, and can take a while. Also, it sounds best if you have hot pickups like SDs or EMGs. And if you want that bend bit, just vibrato the note. Also keep in mind that albums with the bendy squealies are produced, so the notes are more audible and higher, so yours may not sound quite as good as that.
Some friend told me to pick the string and touch it with my thumb afterwards but really fast.
Some friend told me to pick the string and touch it with my thumb afterwards but really fast.
It's hard to explain but I will try my best. To perform a pinch harmonic you really need to hold your pick a certain way, usually only for the brief second that you perform the pinch harmonic.
I took a couple picture here to show you the difference in how I hold a pick normally compared to how I hold it for the brief second when I am actually performing the pinch harmonic.
When I am picking normally I hold my pick like this.

When I go to perform a pinch harmonic I will kind of pull my fingers in and with doing that my pick will automatically sink into my fingers enough where my thumb is pretty much covering the pick.

You can see when I am holding my pick like that my thumb is gonna automatically gonna touch the string after I pluck it. It is a single motion, you don't pluck the string and then move your thumb.
Is it wrong to pick with your last three fingers straight out? It just feels kinda uncomfortable when i do it with them tucked in.

Uh, do it however's comfortable
