I've been learning guitar for about a week now by myself. What should I really start off with? also I have an acoustic.
the deep purple song about smoke and water
yes that purple deep song about watersmoke I hope you mean the whole song not just the riff that everyone knows.
I've been learning guitar for about a week now by myself. What should I really start off with? also I have an acoustic.
learn something that nobody else knows like sweet child o mine
I've been learning guitar for about a week now by myself. What should I really start off with? also I have an acoustic.
I would pick a simple 3 or 4 chord acoustic guitar song and stick with it. By that I mean, do not move on until you can properly play it. It should of course be something that you enjoy playing otherwise practicing it will be a chore, so this will require you to like some kind of simple guitar music. I recommend this because you'll need to build some kind of rhythm in your picking hand, it's very important and without it you'll go nowhere, and the most beneficial way to go about this at your level is to learn a handful of open chords like G C D E A F and their relative minor chords, and then practice switching between those and strumming a consistent rhythm. You can either do it monotonously by just practicing random chord progressions, or you can make it fun and learn songs you like that use them like I said, either way you accomplish the same thing. This will establish a base upon which you could build and eventually learn to play at least the rhythm section of pretty much any song.
it really helped me in the beginning to pay attention to the strumming patterns in songs, learning it from the sheet or whatever I was using (though not all have them), and listening to the song. for your basic acoustic songs, that's something that's not too hard and it's really a really useful thing to get used to
I hope you mean the whole song not just the riff that everyone knows.
of course
learn adolescent soul [editline]12th July 2013[/editline] [sp]teen spirit[/sp]
then master of puppets
one of the first songs i learned from beginning to end was concubine. of course it's only a minute long but it was p hard.
the first song i ever learned was last kiss by pearl jam then i think it was all the small things by blink 182, then 7 nation army no clue what it was after that though
ROCK ON MAN
I think the first thing I learned was a Kansas song
I think the first thing I learned was a Kansas song
Any chance you went through a tough breakup and learned Dust in the Wind?
Any chance you went through a tough breakup and learned Dust in the Wind?
It was Carry On Wayward Son actually
It was Carry On Wayward Son actually
I love that riff, that would actually be a good starter song.
it's still a really fun song to play. Most Kansas songs are actually pretty fun to play
The first song I tried to learn was master of puppets. I learned bits and pieces of a bunch of songs, then the first song I learned in its entirety was Vicarious by Tool.
After thinking about it for a bit I am thinking the first song I really learned was Balls To The Wall by Accept. Back when I lived in Vegas I ran into the lead guitarist Wolf Hoffman with my father at an IHOP, this was back when I was a drummer but when me and my father would have a jam we would warm up with that song. I was way too shy to actually say anything but my father mentioned that and Wolf tried his best to get me out of my shell a little bit so he could talk to me haha. He was such a humble guy. So after talking to him for a bit we went and sat back down and then Kiefer Sutherland walked in... I kid you not that is a true story, when I lived in Vegas I met an incredible amount of famous people even though I was usually too shy to say much. I met Glenn Tipton from Judas Priest at a Halford concert, he said he was quietly following him to shows to "see if he still has it." 5 months later Halford went back to Priest...
First song I learned on bass (and guitar I think ) was Breaking The Law by Judas Priest.
The first songs I learned on (electric) guitar were mostly by AC/DC.
I think the first part of a song I ever learned was the intro to a secret place by megadeth either that or danzig's twist of cain
the first song i learned was this super technical monumental masterpiece of complication called For Whom The Bell Tolls am i hardcore yet
