yo dudes i don't know shit about tuners so are Grover tuners any good
yo dudes i don't know shit about tuners so are Grover tuners any good
they're okay, schaller/hipshot/sperzel is better
they're okay, schaller/hipshot/sperzel is better
I would say Grover pretty much beats all those brands except hipshot. My explorer has grover tuners on it and it is bang on all the time and never comes out of tune. On top of that most grover tuners are a 18:1 ratio compared to schaller or sperzel which are anywhere from 12:1 to 16:1. I think if I had to choose it would be grover, hipshot, or planet waves.
I bought my first guitar picks today.
Somehow I feel accomplished.
It's so weird how my music tastes change when I'm practicing and not practicing.
Not playing bass, listen to White Stripes and Ty Segall
Playing bass: Time to listen/learn every tool song (that can be played on a 4 string)

Yeah my Ibanez still has the stock tuners and they feel horrible compared to my explorer. They still keep tune like no ones business but they are a loose, like when you go to turn the tuner it takes like a quarter turn before they do anything. I am probably gonna put some planet waves locking tuners on it sometime soon.

Now watch as they magically disappear one by one...
These 9-46 strings feel like playtoys compared to 60s, probably replacing them soon cause they be floppy in C
Man, budget lines for guitar are just getting better and better. This Jackson looks fucking incredible.

It may be good from a technical standpoint, but I think guitars like that are kind of ugly. Except for the headstock. I like Jackson headstocks.
imho "metal guitars" just look cheap
Just bought my first jackson guitar guys!!!

where's the rest of that Explorer
This is the previous budget model that Jackson did (and still do now but it's under a different name).

it's upside down

My favorite headstock was Ibanez for the longest time, still is I guess but I love the hockey stick headstock on my explorer as well as the fender headstock.
banana headstock best headstock

Different headstocks look good on different axes. That banana one is cool, but "metal guitar" bodies are hideous to me. The contours, the no-pickguard cheap-finish, the humbuckers, the tremolo, and the knob placement on most of em are just ugly.
I'm a big fan of Strat/Tele headstocks, that Gibson grabber/V one, and ric ones (but only on rics)
"no pick guard"
"cheap"

Yeah, looks kind of cheap.
What I meant is when the finish looks cheap/ugly and there's no pickguard it doesn't look good imo

Hell my bass doesn't have a pickguard I just like the color and finish so I'm okay with it

Some people don't like the ornate finish some guitars have, if anything it just makes it harder to deal with when you get a scratch in the finish.
I know what you're saying. I worded it poorly when I said the thing about pickguards. It's just that to me, some guitars just really don't look good without pickguards, like that Jackson one up there. Obviously stuff like Les Pauls look great either way.
you know I'm trying to imagine that jackson with a pick guard and it's just not happening
same for a great looking les paul

No worries I am just giving you a hard time. :v:

only thing worse than a les paul is an HHH les paul
only thing worse than a les paul is an HHH les paul
Fuck you I love HHH les pauls, but that is just the Ace Frehley fan coming out.
Just bought myself a '93 Fender Strat Plus on impulse. Every guitarist needs a Strat though, and now I have one I really like :). 'Scuse the phone pictures.

Schaller tuners and roller nut as stock:

Gold lace sensor pickups stock (incredibly low noise, still got that delicious Strat sound):

Only thing I'll do to this guitar Is put a tremol-no in it, just because I'm so used to fixed bridges. The trem is really nice though, and the nut seems to do its job!
Waiting for a new instrument from UPS is really nostalgic
Looking out my window like a little kid waiting for Nat Geo
