I somehow remember my mother telling me that the guitar we/I own is a Yamaha. it's actually a Stagg C546
The other guitarist from my band got his nine string today, holy fuck the neck is so thick.

yeah it's a real shame that gibson ruined epiphone [editline]27th July 2013[/editline] actually now that I think about it there isn't a single gibson brand that is worth buying new.
Elvis had one of them Gibbys when I was young.
thinking of maybe slapping a DP104 Super 2 in the bridge and a PAF of some sort in the neck. completely stupid idea?

Some of the best basses I've played have been Squier VMs, CVs, and even Affinitys.

I would say reverse your idea and put a PAF style in the bridge and super 2 in the neck. My Ibanez has a SD '59 in the bridge and super 2 in the neck and the combination shouldn't work but it does. I have to back down the super 2 a little bit so it doesn't overpower the '59 but once you get them evened out they sound great. Set up a coil split for the super 2 in the neck and you get a pretty authentic neck strat sound, and I mean very authentic. I seriously don't get what all the fuss is about with Gibson quality, it's like they had some QC problems for a few years and even after they sussed out the problems people are still on the bandwagon. I have played a shit load of brand new guitars and I barely find a Gibson, that plays or looks like shit. Now the EVH wolfgang guitars, I have ran into so many shitty ones. The new striped series is alright. I may not agree with the new fretboard woods gibson uses on a few of their models but I seriously do not see what all the fuss is about. As far as epiphone, they most likely wouldn't be a brand anymore if Gibson didn't buy them out. I love vintage epiphone but have you played the new Wilshire models? They play and sound great. I would hardly say squier outclasses epiphone, if anything they are matched. Two budget brands making the classic guitars that would cost shit load if you wanted to buy the real thing.
The intro of ObZen by Meshuggah makes my skull vibrate with my new headphones. Dat F tuning
Set up a coil split for the super 2 in the neck and you get a pretty authentic neck strat sound, and I mean very authentic.
i'd rather not, i hate the strat sound what if i ditched PAF and replaced it with a Super Distortion? also, if i were to actually put the Super 2 in the bridge, what would that do to the tone? i understand it's a pretty high-screaming piece of work i'm still chasing the '83-84 'Dave Mustaine' sound and Neal Moser who designed 10-string Bich has this on his site "The original pickups used in the Bich 10 were DiMarzio Super Distortions in the bridge position and the DiMarzio PAF in the neck position. I have found over the years that the Super Distortion seems a little muddy for a 10 string so I changed over to the Super 2 which works VERY well. The set of pickups we offer for the Perfect 10 will be the Super 2 and the PAF. However, if you want the Super Distortion instead, you can order one." the Bich i'm planning to get in the near future has two Duncan Design HB-103s and if i'm not satisfied with those i might get this double-pup kit. that's why i'm asking about the Super 2. of course it might be hard to make any accurate guesstimates since the Bich's extra electronics give it its own weird sound

And that is kind of the way with pickups, I tried putting my SD '59 in my fathers guitar and it didn't sound good to me. In my guitar it cuts like a knife but it isn't so bright that I would call it twangy. I think your best bet is to try your luck and go with the super 2 and PAF.
Guys I am not a rich dude. I got into uni last year and I had the right to get 1000 euros. I will spend 700 on the rent and I was thinking about saving some more to get a Vintage V100AW since I will never be able to save a lot of money. Would you suggest it? I have been playing for 1 year and I feel like my cheap washburn or whatever has a horrible sound. http://www.thomann.de/gr/vintage_v100aw.htm Is it worth it?
I think your best bet is to try your luck and go with the super 2 and PAF.
that i shall do, thanks for the help

It's all down to preference, really.
Depending on how good I have gotten in 2 and a half months, I might buy my first electric for my birthday on the 14th of October or slightly afterwards.
I am currently having a problem with one of my guitar pickups I have an Epiphone sg special (nothing great) which is atleasy 5 or 6 years old. The neck pickup isn't working much at all. Sometimes it will work if i give the guitar a good wack near the neck, but it seems to only pick up a minimal amount of volume from the strings. If my amp is on a full distortion setting, it will sound a like a slightly fuzzy guitar. Bridge pickup works fine though. Any ideas?
I have a Fender Stratocaster blacktop with sonic blue color aaaaand an Ibanez art 100.
gonna repaint my rgd7421 white in a few weeks fun times! I used to play a Acoustic Gutair in an Orchestra. It was good until i couldn`t be bothered to go the the place after school anymore. I got to a good standard and i still play it a little bit today. I was thinking of getting a Electric gutair, are they fun to play?
depends on what you mean by fun
