'How easy is it to take all the electronic hardware out and fix it myself? I own and roughly know how to use a soldering iron
As long as you're proficient with a soldering iron, and have a correct wiring diagram, it'd be pretty easy. Guitar wiring is usually pretty simple. Usually. When you get into push/pull pots, concentric pots and preamps, it gets a little more complicated. But there's a wiring diagram for pretty much everything. [editline]28th July 2013[/editline] I can't wait to try out some guitars and basses at music shops on the UK mainland. I particularly hope to find some of the new Squier Affinity and maybe even the new Fender Modern Player 2.0 series. Either way, I'm definitely going to try out some Strats and whatever basses I can find.
Not that any of you bastards have got one yet but Fractal have released stef carpenter from deftones settings for the latest album / current tour. Nice lil pdf with the files showing you the axe fx 2 http://www.fractalaudio.com/downloads/misc/stef-carpenter-deftones-preset-pack.zip

All I have is a volume knob, pickup selection switch, tone knob, and 2 humbucker pickups (passive) just an out of the box low end epiphone setup I suppose ill just destring it and then rip all of it apart tommorow

Also, has anyone here ever tried a bass VI, Fender or otherwise? Always been curious as to how they play.
i have PTSD from tuning new strings i just keep turning and it keeps getting higher and higher and then i start sweating and then TWANG i have a cut on my wrist
I am very comfortable changing strings, but after changing the strings on my guitars as well as my friends more times than I can count I guess that is normal. Even when it comes to stretching I haven't broken a string doing that in over 4 years. I actually love changing strings. But I got fascinated after I saw Phil X play one of the old ones. I can't say much for the vintage ones but I can tell you for the price that bass VI is a pretty nice little thing, it's another one of the oddities I would pick up if I had the money. Go through and wiggle each wire and if you reach one that starts cutting out when you wiggle it then resolder it and see if that fixes it for ya.
The other guitarist from my band got his nine string today, holy fuck the neck is so thick.
Holy crap, I demand pictures. What do you guys play genre wise? [editline]29th July 2013[/editline] On another note: I wait for the next big bad thing or trauma to happen to continue on my psychedelic album. It's kind of weird, people that like my music only know my calm album but once trauma kicks in I will probably lose every listener I had and gain some metal fans instead by making this album happen. Here is one track of that crazy album (trauma kicks in at 2:12 followed by the longest scream I ever did): Also sounds are made with my prs baritone downtuned to c# (bass octave) and pod hd bean.

Trippy stuff though
17 second scream, damn son! Trippy stuff though
I was choking on air after that scream, I think my longest that I counted is about 25 seconds but I want to top that on another song. Thank you :v:

Woo new bass today. Needs a new nut though b/c I'm getting mad buzz at 1 and 2 frets and the old one is worn down. I'll post pics later. Sounds awesome though. Old stock pickups were replaced with EMGs. Not sure if that's good or bad, time will tell.
[t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/8598216/IMG_20130730_003307.jpg[/t] breaking a string is bad enough but this one decided to embed itself in my wrist
I almost lost an eye once from a broken string, had my B string snap and smack my right eyelid. I got lucky, it hit hard enough to give me somewhat of a black eye. I can only imagine what it would have done to my eyeball.
There is a thing even more dangerous than broken strings. 2B thick drumsticks exploding in hand while doing a rimshot. I am lucky only to have played 5A sticks out of hickory, the worst thing that happened to me is the stick exploding in half with the sharp end flying right at my head bumping me hard and making me feel "wtf just happened" [editline]30th July 2013[/editline] Also I managed to make a stick explode so hard on a rimshot that it flew about 7 meters away like a shuriken straight at the wall :v:
You guys know any badass acoustic country like riffs? You know the ones that was usually played in the first frets and they have a lot of pulls offs and shit.
I love this.

I actually never got hit by a broken stick but I let one go once while I was playing and had it smack me in the eye and broke a blood vessel, I am pretty sure I have a picture somewhere but that was like 8 years ago. I eventually went and got a set of AHEAD Tommy Lee metal sticks, those things are freakin' hammers compared to your typical wood stick but I still have them 7 years later.
Oh boy turns out my nut's really worn down and I had to get an uncut bone one. Never replaced and cut my own nut before. This should be something...
Oh boy turns out my nut's really worn down and I had to get an uncut bone one. Never replaced and cut my own nut before. Actually turned out alright, guy still has it on his guitar.
anyone know what this "noise" is? (skip to 0:32) it's a really electronic sounding noise i hear when i'm playing my chord at that part. i only heard it in the recording so i think it's just my phone's crap mic but i just want to make sure because i have pretty bad ears. it might be a harmonic being played one the muted string in my chord?

The guy listed the bass as playing perfectly from the get-go (the nut is so low it's unplayable) and as having stock electronics, when in fact it has EMGs, which I HIGHLY doubt sound like 1980 Yamaha split coils. I have half a mind to demand my money back, although it was a classified so I'm 90% sure I'm shit out of luck. At least I learned a lesson: interrogate the living shit out of anyone you're buying from online and demand lots of pictures of everything on the instrument for proof.

That's probably what I'll end up trying. Sadly the neck and nut are designed in such a way that it is very hard to remove
That's probably what I'll end up trying. Sadly the neck and nut are designed in such a way that it is very hard to remove
Is it a fender style nut slot?
I don't believe it is. It's surrounded by wood on both sides making the good old "tap with block of wood and a hammer" method out of the question.

Or this. Either design should allow you to knock it out by hitting either side so it comes out from the side.
