Is it good for blues too?
http://en.euroguitar.com/guitar/squier/vintage-modified/telecaster-special/146860.html Gotta always go with the tele for country in my opinion. You might be able to find it cheaper though. Unless you like rockabilly. http://en.euroguitar.com/guitar/aria/ta/50/143576.html http://en.euroguitar.com/guitar/epiphone/the-dot/125880.html
But you'll want to invest in an amp most of all. It's what really defines the sound. [editline]14th August 2013[/editline]
Is it good for blues too?
Tele, yes, The other two, I'm sure the dot is, not sure however about the aria.
well my amp is shite. But I wanted to invest in a guitar first and a amp later.
well my amp is shite. But I wanted to invest in a guitar first and a amp later.
I did what you did and i regretted it till i got my amp. The amp is the most defining feature of your sound. I actually blew mine out a few days ago, I would probably recommend a micro terror head if you can get one. I pull off jazz and blues tones a lot with it. Otherwise, i'd just recommend hearing demos of amps around your level. heard a lot of good things about this one too http://en.euroguitar.com/amp/yamaha/thr/10/145701.html
http://www.thomann.de/gr/fender_mustang_i_v2.htm http://www.thomann.de/gr/fender_squier_vint_mod_tele_special_b.htm Destroyer that amp is way too awesome and expensive. What do you think about this combo?
Looks good for a starters amp. Ive heard a lot of good about that one.
and mate what about this guitar? http://www.thomann.de/gr/epiphone_lp_studio_alpine_white.htm
Also these days i find myself messing with technical aspects of guitars when i have a problem rather than actually balls off the wall playing. I also maxed out the gain and volume on my mirco terror because of distortion withdrawals. Got a good punk vibe id say [editline]14th August 2013[/editline]
and mate what about this guitar? http://www.thomann.de/gr/epiphone_lp_studio_alpine_white.htm
If you like les pauls it'd work fir blues, but its a heavy guitar Compared to others. For country i don't really know. But, blues and jazz yes. [editline]14th August 2013[/editline] Try to find them used too, can save you a euro or 50
Well I have decided to get this baby http://www.thomann.de/gr/vintage_v100aw.htm and afterwards the mustang fender amp
Well I have decided to get this baby http://www.thomann.de/gr/vintage_v100aw.htm and afterwards the mustang fender amp
I've got a Mustang II and I'm pretty impressed with it though I'm still not that good at getting good sounds. Try going for the Mustang III though, same amp models but you can pretty much change the settings on the go compared to the II which you need to connect to a laptop and has no Mid knob.
I have a Mustang 3, the bass is shit and if your pickups are crap it'll mud up really bad if you go past 2 on the volume knob. It's also way too loud for bedroom playing imo. I really regret not getting that Peavey Bandit instead, can't get one now though because I'm saving for a Princeton Reverb.
What do you guys think of the Epiphone SG Special? As a lefty, the body looks perfect. IF I get an electric I'm getting it in October, so I have time to decide. [editline]15th August 2013[/editline] I play upside down. [editline]15th August 2013[/editline] Also, the pictures it on the guitar store near where I live have it without the pickguard, but all other pictures of it on other sites and on youtube have the pickguard. Looks fantastic with the guard.
The $200 SG Special? I got one and it was a good deal. The body is symmetrical so playing upside down shouldn't be a problem. The pickguard would just be on top I guess.
The pickguard interests me because it makes it look pretty :v:
Question though, why do you choose to play upside down as opposed to getting a lefty?
We have a 'family guitar' which I bought with my own money mostly when I was much younger. I tried to learn it then but lost interest. Now, I started learning near the start of July, and since I didn't want to restring it every time my mother wants to play, I decided to learn it upside down. It feels much more natural for me too. I'm too used to it to switch I think, and lefties are more expensive! [editline]15th August 2013[/editline] I suppose it just feels right to me. If I used lefty strings it probably would of worked too, but now I'm used to just upside down. [editline]15th August 2013[/editline] also I can play other peoples guitars now if I want! More choices!

I take a normal right handed guitar and flip it upside down so I fret with my right hand and strum/pick with my left. Albert King style
That's pretty rad, sorta like what Hendrix did only he would restring his strings to be in the normal order.
Neat, you'll develop a cool technique for sure.
I take a normal right handed guitar and flip it upside down so I fret with my right hand and strum/pick with my left. Albert King style
fuck yeah man.
The $200 SG Special? I got one and it was a good deal. The body is symmetrical so playing upside down shouldn't be a problem. The pickguard would just be on top I guess.
Well, they're kinda symmetrical. The SG has a bit of asymmetry to it, but it shouldn't be enough to throw you off. The main thing is the beveled edge will be on the bottom cutting into your leg/knee, and the normal edge (with corners) will now be the one your arm rests on, kinda defeats the purpose of the SG's contoured body. But if it works for you that's okay, just play a few SGs this way first before you commit to buying one because if it's not comfortable then you're fucked. I'd say also look into shapes like the les paul junior double cutaway version, that guitar is a bit more symmetrical.
a lefty playing an SG? chop off your fingertips in a factory accident and become a rock legend
I'm left handed and (trying) to play right. I honestly don't get what the problem is as the left hand is the one that needs the added familiarity/finesse anyway.
My dad tried to teach me guitar when I was 12 and because I'm left handed he strung the guitar for a lefty. It didn't feel right so I play it the right hand way. Feels right.

absinthe posted a chord in here and I can't find any that go alongside it
E --4- B --5- G --6- D --7- A --4- D --4-
shifted up a bit sounds like the kind of thing that'd be sampled for an adult swim bump
I did have this kicking around in my head to go with it
A7M/F# C7M/E Bm/D E||-------|--4----------------|--7----------------|--2----------------| B||-------|--5----------------|--5----------------|--3----------------| G||-------|--6----------------|--5----------------|--4----------------| D||-------|--7----------------|--5----------------|--0----------------| A||-------|--4----------------|--7----------------|--2----------------| D||-------|--4----------------|-------------------|--0----------------| E7/B --4----------------|| --3----------------|| --4----------------|| --2----------------|| --2----------------|| -------------------||
It took me 3 days to learn this shib http://vocaroo.com/i/s1JMEiBzUhiY
I need to send my acoustic in for repairs since the low E fucking snapped now regularly I would just replace it but lol somehow it also fucking destroyed the bit where the string enters the bridge so. Wonder how much it will cost. Also my friend showed me this, the looks of which I absolutely fell in love with. Want it so bad now
