Yeah, it doesn't sound as good. But are there any virtual amps I could use with the mixer? It's a Behringer X1204
An amplifier isn't your issue with safe distortion, it's having either speakers rated for the additional heat or something coming before the speakers in the signal chain to mitigate it. Raw amp output isn't good for speakers that aren't rated for it either. It looks like it doubles as an audio interface, so you could use a free amp and cab sim from AcmeBarGig. That covers both the sounding-like-ass and equipment safety issues.
I use headphones :v: [editline]1st September 2013[/editline] also thanks
Sweetwater is a seriously great site for ordering strings $6 cheaper than anywhere else plus free shipping that arrives in 1-3 business days!
My school has a woodwork class. Teacher told us to pick our own project. Guuitaaaar?
do it
I already have some crazy design in my head. 2 humbuckers, 1 single coil, tremolo bar, a body that's a mix between a strat, a telecaster and a les paul also other things. I can do ANYTHING [editline]3rd September 2013[/editline] also half left handed since i'm a madman

Guitars aren't the easiest thing to make, how much woodworking experience do you have? [editline]3rd September 2013[/editline] Son of a bitch when did Squier start making a Bass VI!? I want one... NOW!
Some, not a lot of woodworking experience. Also one of my starting ideas is a bit similar to that bass. Body shape wise.

David Fletcher: http://www.youtube.com/user/fletch123 Tom Victor Chiiron: http://www.youtube.com/user/TomVictorChiiron Sully: http://www.youtube.com/user/jsullysix Really gets the creative juices flowing and in the process you learn a little bit.
I drew it out but my phone is being a shit so I can't post it :v: [editline]3rd September 2013[/editline] [t]http://i.imgur.com/w5xPtko.jpg[/t] basic design I look at my amazing~ drawing skills

I have a few weeks so that will probably change at least a bit. And I got all year to build it :v:
I threw up in my mouth a little but I'm still interested in seeing it done

NOW!
As a bassist trying to do solo work I've always been interested in these also, I personally think the Squier looks way prettier (and closer to the original) and sounds great, too. Squiers are getting more and more fantastic as time goes on the floppiness of the lower strings would present an issue, though
I need it.
They're super interesting but they really sound like bass guitars as opposed to basses I'm so glad they're bringing them back, though. Opens up a lot of new creative options.
holy shit, the guy I bought strings from on ebay sent me a second set for free. tips on stringing my guitar to make sure the strings don't break? How can I make sure the posts etc aren't too sharp? [editline]4th September 2013[/editline] fuck I can't do this, I think I've developed a fear of guitar strings. [editline]4th September 2013[/editline] man I am some kind of retard, the reason my strings were breaking was because when I put the low E on, I tuned it to E, but a really high E, so the rest of the strings were breaking from me trying to to tune them to the same tuning. I got my acoustic guitar to tune this time and I heard the E on the acoustic was a lot lower than the one I currently had on, problem solved. still terrified of stringing guitars though.
I threw up in my mouth a little but I'm still interested in seeing it done
It doesn't look that bad :v: also not final design
I've only been playing for about a year, but I want to get another electric. I found someone selling all of this for $150. Do you guys think it's a good deal? They called it a GIO Ibanez but I don't know what that means, I thought Ibanez were pretty decent guitars though. I really, really need a better amp as well. [t]http://i.imgur.com/2k7ugNM.jpg[/t]
You will hate yourself for buying a GIO
I have one and no matter which amp you play it through it sounds muddy as fuck. In my personal opinion it feels like utter shit aswell.
My brother has a 7 String GIO, its possibly the worst guitar I have ever played, mostly because he refuses to adjust the bridge or anything because he says it's comfortable. It's not comfy you just got used to how shitty it plays. It's also signed by Korn, which is another level of shitty.

I have a gio fretless bass but I actually know how to properly set up an instrument so it plays pretty good. The wood is shitty soft and warps if you look at it funny though so you gotta set it up constantly if you actually want to enjoy, playing it
i remember when i first tuned my old gio to drop c and the ability to hold tuning went from crap to fucking shit
How low can you tune a guitar with it still being playable? massive bends -3 step tuning double albert king
There's a point past which wavelength alone will cause intonation problems with your fret set but that varies by instrument.
i remember when i first tuned my old gio to drop c and the ability to hold tuning went from crap to fucking shit
GIOs are literally the worst big-name budget guitar. [editline]4th September 2013[/editline]
How low can you tune a guitar with it still being playable? massive bends -3 step tuning double albert king
All i had to do with my Epi SG special to drop it from standard to Drop B was adjust my truss rod, bridge height and slap a set of 58s on it. I can bend 3 steps fine without knocking it out of tune But it depends on your scale length, I've put it as low as Ab/G# with 62s but it sounded like dick because of the 24 3/4" scale. It's why most baritone 6/7/8s have at least 25.5" scale up to around 30"
How low can you tune a guitar with it still being playable? massive bends -3 step tuning double albert king
i know with thick strings you can tune down jazzmasters to B standard and theyll still play ok, sonic youth used those kinds of low tunings on their daydream nation record. theres lots of buzzing and strange overtones but thats part of its charm innit
