So chappers/bea have a female fronted metal side project coming
Slowly starting band practice with two friends!
drummer is great, me and other guy not so much.
I can play some stuff but I still can't properly play the intro to Smells like teen spirit
So apparently I've been holding my pick wrong. I now know this because every time I would strum the back of my finger would rub against the string. Slowly rubbing it raw.

Don't worry this is how I started learning guitar. Friends like music, I liked music, lets all pick up some instruments we don't know how to play and make a band.
Still going strong.

Except we started with seven nation army
It's taken me an hour and a half just get the first riff of Black Dog.
I've been playing for close to 3 years, and I seriously feel like this thing should take me about 15 minutes tops. How the heck do I get better at playing without just learning songs???

it took me a while to get used to the groove in that song cause the riff is off by like three quarters of a measure
[editline]23rd October 2013[/editline]
the last riff owns bones though
[editline]23rd October 2013[/editline]
the essence of jimmy page's particular style of not giving a fuck
Jonesy came up with the main riff. The song was made to be really hard to cover, and apparently if you listen to it really loud, you can hear Bonzo counting in the riff.

Dat constantly shifting meter
Can anyone suggest me an amp between $500-1000 AUD?
I'm currently on an ESP LTD MH-1000NT and play mainly hard rock and metal. I prefer combos, because as a guitarist in a casual band, we don't need the stacks and it's better for me to be able to carry it around to band practices at whoever's house we decide to practice at :P
Obligatory picture (it needs a clean :C):
