Jesus christ, power metal is near the worst thing to come out of metal.
There is no 'worst part' of metal. It's completely opinion. Personally I like pretty much every branch of metal, going from Thrash to Power Metal to some Death metal. Reason I love Power Metal is because it's very uplifting, and the instrumentals and singing style needed are fantastic. And I love Dragonland for the picture they paint in your head. Listen to an album in order the whole way through and you get a big hour long story. Song one is the start, the last the ending.
HNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNG Sonata Artica are fucking awesome. Just searched them on Spotify. And they covered all the big Pioneers of metal

I can't tell if that's meant to say it's awesome or shit, but listening to it just now and it's pretty damn good.
I went to see Dragonforce in the O2 arena in Glasgow last thursday. It was awesome.
I went to see Dragonforce in the O2 arena in Glasgow last thursday. It was awesome.
Yeah, I hear they've improved live.
They were in Glasgow? D: Shit, I live in Edinburgh, about 50 miles away ;-;

Iced Earth is splendid. Also, this is very funny if you like the band:
New favourite genre. Thanks guys!
It's all good. Stay Metal
Yeah, I hear they've improved live.
yeah they actually admitted they used to suck and have said things like they couldn't hear themselves play live (bad monitors and poor amp placement I assume) etc etc
Power black metal = awesome
I really wish more power metal bands could come up with good band names.
I really wish more power metal bands could come up with good band names.
Yeah. Speaking of which I don't really dig Edguy's new album. It's not double bass and sounds more progressive rock then Power Metal. It's ehhh for me.
Yeah. Speaking of which I don't really dig Edguy's new album. It's not double bass and sounds more progressive rock then Power Metal. It's ehhh for me.
Edguy were Power Metal gods back in the day. But with the release of Rocket Ride they really lost their way. They're hardly considered to be a Power Metal band today by fans. Like you said, they're much more Rock oriented. Which is a shame.. I mean, Vain Glory Opera, Wow!! :gbsmith: On another note: here's something interesting. Synthphonia Suprema from Italy. Like their name intends, it's a very synth-oriented band. Power Metal with tons of Lead Saws here and there. It's hard to tell whether it's good or not I think. The compositions are pretty nice, but the synths take up too much space imo.. even for me who love synths! Anyway, check 'em out. Synthphonia Suprema - Synth Metal Their only album so far: Synthphony 001

I'm a synth player myself so this kinda appeals to me.
Symphonia Suprema is pretty good. I just dont really like the singing voice.
Symphonia Suprema is pretty good. I just dont really like the singing voice.
It sound really repetitive to be honest. And I bought the Qantice album. It's so epic.
Power/Speed Metal from.. Kazahkstan? :crossarms: You better believe it. Holy Dragons (incredible band name) have released 12 or something albums. I've lost track. They seem to release new stuff every other month. Anyway, here's Ragnarok from their, imo, best album "Волки Одина" meaning "Wolves of Odin". Great success!

I saw Dragonforce live before they got famous through Guitar Hero, and they were awesome back then as well. Also, have some Dragonland.
Aren't Dragonforce not allowed to perform anymore because they're too fake, they can't play their songs live because they're compiled?

Bloodbound are quite awesome. I'm pretty sure no one posted them in this thread yet, so I'll do the honours.
