• If the American Federal Government or US Supreme Court legalized Gay Marriage...

I would vote for gay marriage just to go against the Christians.
I've summarized what would go on in four simple words. Shit. Would. Go. Down.
It should be up to the state
This is how Jim Crow Laws were able to be created and last for so long. Anyways OP that sounds incredibly stupid. The hope for gay marriage lays within the fact that it seems on the whole the youth and next generation of youth will probably be more tolerant towards the concept.
i'm strongly against gay marriage and was actually for prop 8 - same gender relations is repulsive and brutally disgusting. it's biologically illogical and just morally wrong since i am a Lutheran. don't let this disease spread before it's too late...
How old are you? Despite what you think, homosexuality is completely natural. It happens amongst animals all the time. [editline]12:37AM[/editline] And i love how most americans are scared of gay marriage...
How does gay people marrying affect anyone who is not gay?
Seeing two men kissing would be too much for our delicate sensibilities. What would happen if a child saw that? I'll tell you what! He would suddenly turn GAY! And then he would take his GAYNESS to school and teach other kids to be GAY! And before you know it an entire generation of children are BLAZING HOMOSEXUALS, only there's nobody left to care about it because we're all too busy GAYING IT UP!
Where do you get this from? Who ever said that it's the freest?
Well Americans did. But since it isn't 1914 anymore, they're quite wrong.
On topic, if they are legalizing Gay Marriage, and then some, I don't really want to have my children saying that they're Gay while they're still in Elementary School.
What Sexual orientation isn't a choice, it's not like kids will hear about gays and then suddenly decide that they want in on some of that.
Would be nice if the federal government could just grow some balls and force this legislation down the throats of anybody who apposes it.
I'm glad people like you aren't the ones making decisions. It doesn't matter how stupid a law or a lack of a certain law may seem, people have differing perspectives, and people need to respect that, you can't just shout YOU'RE WRONG AND IGNORANT and steamroll whatever you believe through the law system

Got to love America.
just like we need to respect Plessy v. Ferguson
I'm not saying people should allow unfair or discriminating laws to come into effect, I'm saying you can't just force shit down peoples throats without getting their opinion first, regardless of how archaic or barbaric their opinion may seem. Both sides have to be considered, because nothing at all in this world is 100% certain.

If it wasn't legalized in every state, than we sure as shit shouldn't have them either. Seems to me like the government shoved that one down everyone's throats.

Seems to me like the government shoved that one down everyone's throats.
THIS. Just because the majority of people wanted to shit on blacks way back, because the majority was white, didn't make them right. The majority, especially in the USA, can be a very, very stupid, bigoted bunch. Some things simply aren't up for debate, and Gay rights are a civil rights issue.
so some states violating some rights means a big fucking deal right?
Yeah, I'd say violation of rights is a pretty big deal. Because, you know, rights are supposed to be the givens of what you can do. Taking them away is very bad.
After all, America is the freest nation in the world.
Actually, that would be the Netherlands, where USA is as much as Russia, or less. With all the fake freedom, religion, creationism, forced concepts and whatnot.
Y'know, ignoring the potential of Christian extremists turning into terrorists if gay marriage was legalized, it definitely would have positive effects on your nation (not as many pregnancies/baby booms, an increasing amount of understanding and tolerance that grows gradually as generations pass, etc). That is unless WBC acquires control of an armory and/or atomic explosives, which is highly unlikely.

This would happen every day: http://www.youtube.com/user/thelonelyisland?blend=3&ob=4#p/u/4/uXT-3r8DFII
The fundamentalist Christian Republicans would be pissed about it for a while.
Oh, the evil republicans. It's always their fault, and they're always the only ones to oppose social progress...that's why so many liberals happen to be in the tea party movement. Those evil republicans must be responsible.
Fox news would be coming up with all kinds of propaganda bullshit.
BS lie and hatemongering. You're being almost as bad as the people you disagree with.
Then the Westboro Baptist Church would step in and denounce the government, and everyone else would deicde to support it at that point because they don't want to be grouped in with the WBC. No Republican government that followed would dare to repeal that law, because they'd lose the next election.
This logic doesn't work. This would be akin to saying that every Christian in America would begin professing Buddhism simply because they didn't want to be grouped into the same category as Westboro.
Since I'm in Canada, that's the best guess I can come up with.
It would also be a very misinformed guess. Try again.
Would it work?
It will never truly work. If it was just about the rights that come with marriage, they could push for some sort of civil union. That's not enough, though; they want to force acceptance of a new, un-traditional definition of marriage on people, thus devaluing the entire meaning of the institution. Where's the limit, if it's between a man and a man or a woman and a woman? Who's to say people won't start trying to marry their dog, their cat, a frog they found in the pond one morning, or a drawing they really like? Eventually, it'll be devalued so much that there will be no point to it at all. Better to leave it as it is.
If it happened, the world would be a better place.
If it happened, there would be no fucking difference.

Get out.
God you're dumb.
As much as I hate gays we are not allowing them their civil rights, regardless if it's their choice or if they are born with it. We are going against the American way of life.
Seeing that people from ancient times (Romans, Greeks, etc) had gay sex all the time, this is just totally ridiculous.
hey look, it's this thread again. If you act like two consenting adults of the same gender getting married affects you in any way, you're deluding yourself

Marrying animals is completely different than people, so don't even try to bring that argument here. No one would allow that anyways. And no ones defacing any meaning of marriage, just replace the bride with a man. Why should you care anyways, it's not your wedding.

You bash the US so much, that we all realize you have never visited here, and we realize you want to live here.
It's going to happen, eventually it has to happen. I'll continue to fight for it until it does.

If that frog can say I do and sign the papers, he has just as much of a right to marry his princess as you do.
