Meh. I really can't get into HL2.
I played until I beat the water levels, then I put it off to the side for a few months. People on FP said that the game would get a lot more fun if I kept on playing, but even up to the part where you can get help from the antlions it was honestly pretty boring to me. The movement and driving gives me a headache (I've been playing FPSs since 6), and there seems to be a gimmicky physics puzzle everywhere I go. Sure, it feels great to kill an entire squad of Combine with the shotgun, but the physics puzzles, OH GOD THE PHYSICS PUZZLES. TBH Yahtzee was right, they just wanted to show off their spiffy engine. Goddammit I hate having to stop at an area, kill some dudes, solve a physics puzzle to open a door or something, back-track, and go on for about another minute only to have to repeat the whole process again.
EP1 and EP2 are probably better, but I don't want to play them until I finish the original game.

Half-life 2 is overplayed in my mind. It's still one of my favorites, but I wouldn't really care. I'd challenge them, of course they'd compare it to Halo. To me, comparing it with the first or second is a fair fight, but the third Halo is from a different generation of gaming.
I think hl2 gets boring after the coastal levels

I've noticed a sharp decline in GD and a rise in GMF quality.
I think half life 2 was pretty good for the generation it came out into but its good today simply because of what has evolved from it..

I mean when i played it i'd rarely played a physics puzzle before so it was still NEW AND EXCITING AWESOME YAY !!!1eleven!!
