Isn't this techno?
no techno is defined by an aesthetic. simply having a guitar play U2 lines doesn't make it techno.
Just watched the sample videos... This thing is just magical, I love it.
Where did I say that? If the lyrics are death centric, and the instrumentalization falls in the anals of metal, with clean vocals, it would be a death metal song.
Death metal doesn't have to have lyrics based on death. I know plenty of death metal bands that sing about nature, existence, and other abstract concepts. Hell, there are tons of instrumental death metal bands.
no techno is defined by an aesthetic. simply having a guitar play U2 lines doesn't make it techno.
But it would be techno if it were a synth with the same timbre playing that melody?
You're being kinda strict with your idea of genres. Music doesn't have rules, and conventions like "no guitars in techno" and "no accordions in death metal" should be challenged, just like in any other art form.
I think I've seen Death Metal bands with a Accordionist before

How can genres be defined by aesthetic? Are you saying that if someone with short hair in a suit plays death metal than it's not really death metal because he doesn't fit the traditional DM look?

He's saying the exact opposite.
what would be better is if you could fit a android tablet or an ipad into a body/case, and have basically the same functionality for cheaper + more use

aesthetics aren't just about the appearances of the members.
metal is entirely driven by aesthetic, that's how we can have stuff like ambient metal or black metal or prog metal and have it all under one broad category.
same thing with techno. the aesthetic on how the instruments are used and play with each other is the important part. not delay ripped off from the edge or the police.

guitar, even with massive echo, would not fit into that would it? you could give it a try but you'd have to modify it and cut it up or else it would sound very out of place.
Techno's aesthetic is rough and deeply industrial. it differs from trance and other electronic genres in that melody is less important than mood or beat.
I could imagine it with some clean guitar chords coming along every few measures.

ewww
I saw 25 grand for the signature edition and freaked the fuck out, then I realized it was HKD. :v:
What an expensive as fuck useless piece of crap.
This looks good when it isn't used to imitate a guitar.
whats the difference between this and a synthesizer? Im not hating on it i am just curious. also whats up with the design choice to make it look like a guitar, its obvious that this instrument plays nothing like a guitar. once again, before someone jumps down my throat, im JUST LEGITIMATELY curious.
looks cool.
i can now play dubstep on a guitar? time to annoy all my neighbors!

None, this is a synthesizer shaped as a guitar. Nothing else.
I always find synthed guitars sounding shitty and nothing like what they are supposed to sound like, this gives me the same thoughts and just unnerves me.
This is a synth.
It has nothing to do with guitars other than the way you play it.

Old techno never really had guitars, because getting a guitar and getting it recorded well cost money. These people liked drum machines and synths so isntead of guitars they got drum machines and synths.
Therefore, there are VERY few techno songs that use guitar. It is so rare it is practically nonexistent. Nobody said it was impossible, just very rare.
i don't get all the hate on Youtube
"you just killed the meaning of guitar"
Well if you are playing it somewhat like a guitar, why does it kill guitar? just because it has other instruments in it?
Though i can say, the sound quality of a real guitar is obviously better.
its not meant to replace a guitar at all, its meant as a MIDI interface that feels like a guitar
I would kill for one of these. My Mircrokorg XL didn't work out for what I liked doing.

It just packages it in one place, so you can do it all at once. In my mind, at least. It's a very clean interface to pick up as well.

I'm sure you can still get them from the website. Just pay the 900$ fee!

You always could;

This seems pretty pointless to me, its more of a toy and a gimmick rather than something useful.
Whats wrong with using a midi keyboard/synth and an xy pad? I can see electronic artists using those but I cant see them on stage with these digital guitars.
So it's the modern day keytar without the nostalgic regret? Cool.
in my opinion it sounds terrible, just play a real guitar
I love the sound of keyboards, but I always find my writing melody lines on my bass, just because I feel more creative with my bass, so this may be useful for me.

Oh, I know that. I just don't have that money :v:

Elements: When did you order yours? How long do they take? And is there only 1000?
And seeing as it's open source, I definitely plan on hacking the shit out of it.

Get a Roland GK-3 instead.

I ordered mine back in March. They were going to release it in April, but they had all these suggestions from people who previewed it about what to implement, so the postponed it. I got mine about three weeks after the released it to the general public, 'cause I live overseas and mail takes foreeeeeeever.
No, there isn't just 1000. Its just that the first 1000 gets a certificate of authenticity.

It's not supposed to be a real guitar. Thats the point...
I don't understand why people keep comparing the two. Sure, one looks like a guitar. But its not really supposed to be exactly like one. We don't really know everything we can do with it yet. Stop judging it.
Well, shit, that's awesome. I dunno if I could get used to not having strings, though.
