• Do people still read physical books?

Yes people still love to read physical rather than to read online. Even I preferred to read physically.
I prefer reading physical books, paper is really nice and I like how books feel, even though digital can be a lot more practical.
Whenever I forget to bring a book with me, I feel like I'm missing something important. :saddowns:
I've been reading From Here to Eternity by James Jones.. it's like 800 pages long. I plan to get all of his books eventually. He was a fantastic author.
I'm a librarian - we're seeing a decrease in the number of digital books being issued and an increase in the number of physical books. Personally, I'd totally get a Kindle/Kobo if it meant being able to get something instantly and carry it easily. But I'll always have bookshelf space for particular books and series I'm probably going to read again - Albion's Dream, Pratchett, LOTR, etc.
I recently went to the local bookstore that's located out of a house. They buy pretty much any old book you give em, and then they sell them and stuff. Pretty much every wall in that house is covered in books, and you can find anything there. Well, almost anything as I found out. I was looking for the book Dune but, after searching for a while, me and the shop assistant I asked for help from realized that the store had pretty much EVERY OTHER book in the Dune series except the original. What a major bummer. Still got out with books 1,3 and 4 in the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series though. Shame they ALSO didn't have the second, but it's not like I can blame them. They just have what people bring in.
Physical books are the shit. I don't read nearly as much as I used to or should do. That being said though whenever I do read it makes me feel a lot better about everything. Just turning pages and seeing new words appear in front of me gives me a sense of achievement and wonder that I don't get from much else. Books r cool.
I prefer just reading books on my phone to be honest.
I'll choose physical book for it is easier to read especially those long paragraphs. But I also use digital copy when I'm on the move.
I read physical books almost exclusively, unless it's hard to get a hold of them. Books that have been long out of print or weren't ever released in America, for example. Physical books are just more fun! I've nearly completed my collection of the original Elric novels (as in, up to Stormbringer) and just the idea that these books have been floating between various people like me ever since the 1970s is a really special feeling. I also lose patience with digital books much faster for some reason, no idea why.
I tend to get overly sentimental with physical books, so my room is absolutely cluttered with them despite several clear outs. I also find it very hard to find the time to just sit and read physical things, so at this point I haven't even read a lot of the books in my room. They're good for taking places where I wouldn't trust taking my tablet, like the bath, or if I'm going out somewhere I would need to leave my bag unattended. Digital books are often cheaper and easier to access though. Physical books can be really cheap if you shop second hand but the nearest store is quite a while away for me.
I can't focus on digital books. I've probably never read a digitally formatted document longer than 20-50 pages.
