My going away party was amazing. My friend Ciara made me a small picture book with pictures from all the times we'd hung out. It's got all my best friends in it, and it's small enough so that I can bring it with me just about anywhere I go. It doesn't sound like much, but I was pretty choked up.
All in all, I had a great time. I said the things I needed to say the people that needed to hear them, and I took care of a lot of unfinished business. I'm going to miss my friends dearly, but I'm ready to go. And I'll see them again in the future! It's sometimes hard to remember that moving on doesn't have to mean letting go of what you're leaving. They're all going to the same college, and they'll be right here when I get back.
I'm going to make tonight count, and I'll be in high spirits come tomorrow. This should be a time of celebration, not sorrow! The roads open to me are wide and many, and with the opportunities offered by the Army, I can take any one of them that I would like. I am scared of leaving my friends and family, but I'd rather move on than linger and let things grow stale! The one truly great thing to have come of this so far has been a new found appreciation for life. Today is an amazing day, and I'll be using it to its fullest.
