I can imagine during mad-minute trials, especially the world-record holding one, that they detached the magazines, as it seems like it would be speedier than loading 2 chargers into the mag when you're trying to make 38 shots on target at 300m in a minute.
As they were always intended to be fed from stripper clips, soldiers were only issued the one on the rifle. Thus during the mad minute they would charge with stripper clips. It doesn't take that much longer to load with a stripper clip, nor does it take an awful lot of time to lay accurate fire down range.
So being from the UK I know next to nothing about gun ownership aside from the basics, but I do like to read this thread every now and then. It's usually quite enlightening.
I also think the Makarov PM is a very nice looking gun, but I have no idea how it handles.

It's funny you bring it up. On all the Enfields I have handled (more than a few) the release of the magazine was surprisingly challenging (the release button just did not want to give) so I would actually argue, about the enfields I have handled, that feeding them with the stripper clip is much easier than reloading with a fresh magazine.
So today i was working at home in my old bedroom, tearing out the ceiling.
>see toy gun on ground
>check it out some
>its a real gun, loaded
>old ass .32 5shot revolver
Anyone know what the hell it is? lol.

And yeah, okay. I'll go ahead and just run out to the Job Orchard and climb a Job Tree and pick me a nice bushel of tasty jobs. It isn't 1930 anymore you can't just run out and 'get a job'. It's hard to find MINIMUM WAGE positions these days. Luckily I have an okay job and am getting a promotion soon.
I bought a new banjo at my local gun and pawn shop.
Can't wait to take it out to the range.

Gas and food, and paid the bills. Now I'm broke.

So, Fallout 3 was right all along. Still, one hell of a lucky find.

Wear a duster and a cowboy hat, open carry a SAA and a lever-action rifle of choice. Sling the banjo onto your back alongside the rifle.

I'm not getting hostile I just expressed the fact that I do not like people that go out and buy expensive shit on a whim because they can. It bothers me. Especially when they brag about it.
It most likely stems from working retail. Having to watch people spend money I wish I had on things I wish I could afford to buy tends to make people disgruntled.

What's the point in having a shitload of money if you can't spend it?
Anyway he wasn't bragging about it, he was just showing the gun he bought. This is a firearms thread, after all. We all do the same thing.

Saving it up to spend more at once.
Haven't really gotten around to asking, but is there any way to get tape residue off a wooden stock? When I got my M1 carbine the seller had put a strip of tape right along the forend of the stock to tell them that it was waiting to be picked up, and it sat there for about a week. Now there is a bit of discoloration between the part where the tape was and the rest of the wood, and I have no clue how to repair it.

Goo Gone. We use that shit at work to get any kind of residue off of anything. Works brilliantly.
Sure, it's no .223, but it's really not that bad of a round.
