So I found out my work got a Marlin Lever in .45-70 for only $550. Tempting... If only just for the power behind it, but alas, the desire for a motorcycle and/or Walther are greater than for any lever action.
Do it. You will not regret it. Arguably the best rifle purchase I've ever made. At least, the most fun.
I'm not getting hostile I just expressed the fact that I do not like people that go out and buy expensive shit on a whim because they can. It bothers me. Especially when they brag about it.
It most likely stems from working retail. Having to watch people spend money I wish I had on things I wish I could afford to buy tends to make people disgruntled.

Guess what I work retail, people come in and buy shit I couldn't even come close to afford too. At one time I was working a full time and part time job. I would do 12 hour shifts on my one job and on my 3-4 days off go work a part time.
In all honesty I don't have to justify my purchase, everyone else shows off their guns. You must hate everyone. And how do you know it was a purchase on a whim? I've been looking at 22. semi-autos for a while and didn't really see anything I like. I go to a store with a main objective and get side tracked, and see something I liked. So I got it. Its my money, I work hard for it, so I'll spend it how I please.
Again, sounds like a personal problem you have. Don't like it maybe just keep the comments to yourself, instead of sounding like a butthurt kid.
Because basement nerds aren't known for working out or for their physical prowess.
The first time I shot it, thought it was a bit of a kick, but then put in mind at the time I only shot a 223. After a while i shot it a few more times you really realize it does not have that bad of a kick at all, the only thing that really causes issues is a metal butt-plate which isn't the most comfortable thing ever. Most people are used to recoil-reducing pads, and all that stuff. but the round is actually pretty good though.

Agreed. I wouldn't be happy if anyone got upset with a purchase i made.
I don't work 60 hours a week for nothing. I do it so i can afford things i like.
Dude I don't work out at all and I have no physical prowess and the 7.62x54 147 grain I shoot doesn't kick at all IMO.
I bruised. But I bruise easily (Thin capillaries). Didn't feel a thing though.
The SVT-40 has a distinct lack of kick, but that just may be because it's semi-auto. When I got to fire a Mosin, the kick was no worse than an Enfield. The people who bitch are probably just holding the gun wrong.

Semi's will generally have a little less recoil because some of the energy is spent cycling the bolt. With a bolt action, you're getting the full force of the round into your shoulder.

that's a fucking telescope.
You could hit something on the moon with that shit.
At that much magnification wouldn't the scope be pretty much useless? For the distance you'd be shooting that you'd need 60x you'd have to compensate so much you wouldn't even see the target, and at 60x any tiny fucking movement you make will cause your aim to go way off.
I've got a 15x scope on my 700 and I can see for quite a distance through that thing
[editline]27th April 2012[/editline]
I usually keep it at 8x though because wtf am I going to need 15x for

this is assuming that you're not trying to shoot people in the pores
Well after working our Nugget's bolt over and over, it works now, thanks for the advice guys.
Also, once again, what's a good minor magnification scope? Around 7x minumum.
Sorry to ask again, I just don't want to dig through pages.

got a budget? anything 3-9x40 would be what I'd look for, you can easily do around 300-400 yards with one as long as you're not aiming for a button or anything and they're generally pretty cheap

$750 ATM, more if we decide not to buy ourselves the falafel
you're looking for a $750 scope for a $90 rifle?
Has anyone else got retards/assholes at their gun clubs? We've got this guy who adamantly enforces all the rules upon everyone else, except himself... He's a cunt basicly. He thinks he's superior to everyone else
Yeah, but you need a gun that is equally as good.
I mean, you have an awesome optic set up, but if you got a gun that has low tolerances and is cheap all-around that optic isn't going to mean anything. Each to their own i guess, I spent 150 on a scope and that was it. It was a decent quality, reliable for what I was using at the time. I suppose if I had a nice bolt-action that was designed for sharp-shooting I would spend 600-1000 on a scope. But I wouldn't spend that on a rifle that is a few hundred.

The range I go to is full of uptight assholes. A lot of people are not renewing their membership and going to a range that is a a good 10 miles or so away from the one I go to because they're cool. Plus the range I go do is basically the "good ol' boys club"
We who pay 40-50 dollars a year for membership get to use the shitty run-down ranges while they good ol' boys get to use the range which is a cross from ours on the same property which is super high end. I mean, really nice.
Whenever we ask to get in to that club or use that range we get the run-around.
So fuck em, they're going to be a range without shooters soon. Then they're going to run out of money to fund that precious fancy "members" only range.
It is like a membership inception, you got to have a membership in order to get the membership so you can use that range member-members can use. But I can't use it because I'm only a member, and not a member-member. If you try to become a member-member they wake you up from the memberception dream and you're stuck back as a member.
skimping on optics and mounts are the most stupid things you can do
I was thinking more like 200-300 range for a nugget though

Wow, what assholes
Our range is cheap, $10 a person w/o membership (membership is like 20 a month). Even though the range itself is pretty shallow, the people that go there are good people, and there's this awesome old guy who always brings the coolest guns. Last time I was there he had a MASSIVE musket he had finished building that morning, as well as a 140 year-old lever action.
Why do I find all bullpups beautiful weapons?

God dammit
I'm at my grandma's and the gun shop with probably the widest range of nuggets in Finland is a couple of blocks away but it's closed during weekends.

Asekauppa Erkki Lähdeniemi, Tampere.
They have a nice website: http://www.lahdeniemi.fi/
How do you pronounce that
You can't. Only the ones gifted with finnish blood can pronounce finnish words.
I tried once and woke up in a hospital.

I thought you remembered it was for the R700 :v:
To spend $300 on a PEM scope reproduction, or not to spend $300 on a PEM scope reproduction, that is the question!
That or get a PU scope reproduction for like $200 but I like the look of the PEM more.
