• Firearms VI - Mosin McNuggets and Tokarev Tartare

So I had a range I want to visit apply for Authorization to Transport restricted firearms almost 2 weeks ago for this Saturday, and I messaged them wondering where it was on Monday. They haven't gotten it yet and had to re-apply for it. Given that the current bureaucrat handing these ATTs out hates everything right now due to a spat with the government that could cost him his job, looks like I may not be shooting the tiny things on the range this Saturday...
Can you guys recommend any good websites for purchasing guns besides Aimsurplus, Atlantic Firearms, or Classic Firearms?
Go with the nugget. and www.budsgunshop.com isn't bad, they might be a bit pricey but their service is SNAPPY. Ordered my nugget and it was at my FFL 2 days later.

Why can't I just browse by type on this website? Semi Auto, Bolt Action, etc.

I'm looking for an M44, because Prussel won't shut up about how the T53 is a shitty knockoff of the M44. But I can't find one for a reasonable price. I've found a lot of idiots trying to sell them for around $275-$400 but nothing in the $150-$200 range.

I don't see whats wrong with a T53 though, It's kinda hard to fuck up a solid design like that
Ask Pruss, the resident sour puss. Anyway I'm going to call Classic Arms tomorrow morning to figure out what kind of choke the JW-2000 has and whether or not it's removable. If it's cylinder and/or removable I'll get that. Otherwise it'll be the T53 I wish someone would buy my airsoft shit then I could just buy both.

Unless your a stickler for all matching numbers it'll be a fine shooter. They've been known to be mismatched with Russian parts, but like I said if you don't care then it is not an issue.
I want it because it's a carbine type Mosin Nagant and it has a folding bayonet. The bayonet does not fit on my 91/30 which pisses me off. I've been meaning to take it to a gunsmith to see if he can fix it, since I fucking destroyed my dremel's bit lock trying to fix it. Piece of shit bit came loose while the thing was running at full RPM and started forcing the lock open more while at the same time rattling around in it and fucking it up. Now it won't lock on shit anymore. Stupid bayonet. [editline]16th May 2012[/editline] Jimmema buy my airsoft stuff so I can get both :v:
I'm having a hard time deciding what rifle I want to get. I know I want to get a rifle that's good for repelling Chinese human waves. 223 Remington is relatively abundant and cheap, but it's rather anemic. 308 Winchester has greater punch at longer ranges than does the 223, but it's more expensive. Rifles chambered for 308 are also more expensive. My options are AR-15, AR-10, Mini 14, M1A, FAL, and G3. The AR family is generally good, but you have to maintain them more. I don't want the commies to overrun my firing position just because I was cleaning an AR. I'm willing to bet the Mini 14 and M1A can run dirty. I'm not so sure about the FAL or G3. They're European rifles, so it might be harder to find parts for them in Texas.
Go away

Kidneys crapped out on me. Now I've got $2000 worth of paintball and airsoft equipment that won't do me any good for their current setup.

Also excuse my ignorance but I wasn't aware that you needed your kidneys to run.

http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx?item=F3M44, otherwise I can't find any alternative to a T-53 and, tbh, I don't think you need any alternative like Jimmema said it's hard to fuck up a design like that.
Slap a scope on it, amp up the FPS, and then lay in the bushes and call yourself a sniper. Also excuse my ignorance but I wasn't aware that you needed your kidneys to run.
I don't need them to run, but they like to be stupid and cause me all sorts of pain when the get compressed/poked/impacted due to the thousands of micro fissures in them that will not heal due to the membranes being too thin.
It's not about "fucking up the design".. Chinese steel has never been good.
It's not like they're made like Hi-points with the slide being made out of a zinc alloy. The T53 isn't exactly known to be bursting at the barrel or chamber. You can still beat the hell out of them and shoot just fine. As I said earlier, if you don't care about matching parts and supreme quality a T53 is just fine for plinking around and hunting with.

If it doesn't at least shoot then he's got a problem. Otherwise, at least state side, M44 are not more common or cheaper so he should go with what he can afford. That said I think he should just get a saiga cause he wants one and it isn't another nagant.

At least one of them. That would help reduce the pain. Until I reach kidney failure (which wont be for a long time) I'm not up for a transplant. The one the store owner has is a hunting stock style
Project gun man. Spend a little, save a little, add to it when you have the money. That's what I did with my 1911. Started with a base model charles daily that I bought for $400, added match grade barrel and trigger, ambi-saftey and extended slide release, Trijicon night sights, and to top it off I duel toned it OD green and black. All over a period of 4 months.
I'll probably get the Saiga next time I have extra money. Right now I'm getting a S&W 1522 and I went ahead with the JW-2000. Their tech finally called me back and told me it was a modified cylinder choke that could fire slugs, so I'm getting that now and I'll get the T53 later.

Seems like they could actually hurt you, they're not just decorative. Punched a drywall and it left 7 moderately sized holes, I'm sure it could do the same to skin :v:

Here's an interesting video for those of you who are looking to do their own reloading and bullet casting.
Watching Commando... wishing for infinite belt M-60. I think we talked about this already but still, awesome.

I think we talked about this already but still, awesome.
Speaking of LMG's, I just read an article in the Marine Corps times about a new LMG the marines and army are working on that weighs almost half that of the current M249 saw and uses casless ammunition (which also weighs significantly less). Here's a little wiki article on the weapon http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LSAT_light_machine_gun And another on it's ammunition http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LSAT_caseless_ammunition In the article It was saying how it could be ready to be fielded in less than 2 years, and that both the army and the marines are really pushing for it. It looks quite promising, I hope something comes of it.

As far as the ammo goes, time will tell if the loss in weight is worth the price to manufacture and how it preforms in theater. I think it is funny that they are doing this when not long ago the had to give up on finding a replacement for the M-4/M16 family of firearms due to a lack of funding.

I think it's funny that they're once again visiting the caseless ammunition situation. Had they stuck with it since with the first projects in the 80's who knows where we'd be now. Hell when the army was trying to find a weapon that would eventually become the M249 it was originally designated to have caseless ammo.
Might as well post some of my knives.
