I think it's funny that they're once again visiting the caseless ammunition situation. Had they stuck with it since with the first projects in the 80's who knows where we'd be now. Hell when the army was trying to find a weapon that would eventually become the M249 it was originally designated to have caseless ammo.
They always pull that kinda stuff. They come up with cool ideas and when they realize that it is unnecessary or too costly they give up. I would be willing to bet that this new LMG will eventually just fire 5.56 unless there is a major breakthrough in caseless ammo soon.

Rather than put a bullet on top of the propellant and keep the two seperate, they kinda just put the bullet IN the propellant that's mixed with a binding agent to create a durable solid cylinder. The new LSAT uses a different kind of mechanism to feed the rounds. " The rotating chamber moves in line with a feed tray above the barrel. A belt-fed round is rammed in and the chamber then swings down, in line with the barrel, before being fired. The chamber then oscillates in front of the belt to accept another round. If a chambered round fails to fire, the following round will simply push it out the front of the chamber." The only thing being ejected here is the links.
LSAT is a horrid idea will you people stop this
Since we can talk about knives, here's what I found in my grandfather's garage last autumn. It's in pretty bad shape, It was slightly bent where the blade is screwed, so the blade would get stuck at some point. Had to oil it. It's also pretty rusty I can't find anything about the company "Cowbrand". I guess it's pretty old, it was my grand-dad's. Also, sorry for the puke quality.
Cool balisong. I've been collecting for a while and never seen any Cowbrand. Neat.

Bk2, every day. Having handled and owned Bk2s I can say they are some of the best knives I've ever owned for the price. Will never regret buying one. They're sturdy as shit and can do anything. Cold steels reputation is kinda ehhh.

Thinking of stripping the paint off, it'll look cooler and scratches won't be seen like they are seen on paint. I've heard BK2s have a pretty thick blade and are heavy for their size, what would they be most suitable for?
Mostly general brute work I guess, They're not really fine for bushcraft or anything but just about anything else, you're golden.
Have you had micarta handles before? The grivory handles that come with the BK knives can be pretty slippery, and I was wondering if the cost for the micarta handles is worth it
Might as well post some of my knives.
Oh god I have two of those. The Ontario Spec Plus and the Gerber folder
The marching is why I posted it :v:
I was amazed at that thing moving, but then the guys went minion style and I just couldn't keep it serious anymore. They also remind me of Team Rocket and their machines and shenanigans to catch pikachu.
So Classic Firearms doesn't charge you for your gun until they add the shipping and it's actually left their warehouse. The charge went through today a while back. I'm so excited. I might actually get my shotgun tomorrow with my S&W M&P 15-22!
Oh god I have two of those. The Ontario Spec Plus and the Gerber folder
You mean the Ka-Bar? Was thinking about getting some but ran out of money. :v: [editline]17th May 2012[/editline] Should I make a knives/outdoors thread? It seems like it would be fun and kinda useful.
Can any of you guys help me find 8x50mm ammunition that will work in a Steyr-Mannlicher M1895? I REALLY want one and at $110 they're a steal IMO but I can't find ammo for them anywhere.
Cold steels reputation is kinda ehhh.
Ya know I have heard that a lot, and I was pretty skeptical before buying my few Cold Steel knives, but each time they have been solid and I think, if I were to need another knife, I would get a Cold Steel. Everything else is too pricey or too low quality. To me they fit that niche of "Cheap enough to bang around, but not cheap enough to break from it." Oh and those Steyrs are like $90 up here but the best ammo I could get was a buck a shot... too rich for my blood.

Was thinking about making my own handles/modding the grivory handles, but I don't own any tools that could be used for that
So, I need advice. M1A, or M1 Garand? I plan on getting both eventually, just not sure which to get fist.
Holy shit this knife is badass, insta-buying this: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/838018-Putting-the-BK2-to-the-test-so-you-don-t-have-to
Yeah It's pretty tough to get stuff symmetrical (Like handles) Without proper tools :/ Know that feel.

Won't that be too long for the Steyr-Mannlicher if it's chambered in 8x50?
Awesome.
Yeah, I'm getting the bk2 for sure now
That's 8x56. Won't that be too long for the Steyr-Mannlicher if it's chambered in 8x50?
I've never met a Steyr chambered in 8x50... so I figured a miss print. Wow... you managed to find the rarer of the two extremely rare rounds Steyr liked to use. I can't find ammo anywhere but I found Brass and dies. Upon some research it seems the Austro-Hungarians used the 8x50R in WWI... the majority of their guns were re-chambered to 8x56R after the war and the few that remained in 8x50 are pretty much stuck with reloading (Even that seems like a pain as you would need custom brass). So I'd suggest staying away from it... if you find one in 8x56R then I think, so long as your alright with the price of ammo, you should pick it up.
On a M1 garand, this part moves with the bolt, do fingers ever get caught in there and mangled?
not unless you're a retard

I'm trying to think of a way to hold the rifle in a way that would have your fingers fucked up by that bit.
I'm trying to think of a way to hold the rifle in a way that would have your fingers fucked up by that bit.
You'd have to hold your hand near the very and and shove your finger into the grove it sits in.
My dad has a m1 carbine, and that part is just covered by the top handguard
