I'd break it down and salvage parts if I found a gun that wasn't safe to shoot
Finally took the nugget out today. It shoots low and to the left. I was shooting in an open field from standing position, though, so I'm not going to screw around with my front sight until I can shoot from a bench.
Also, I dicked around with my bolt and accidentally took it apart. It took me a while to figure out how to put it back together. I should probably not be allowed to touch things.

That's better than managing to stab yourself with the firing pin, I definitely didn't do that when I took it apart the first time or anything. Nope not me!
Damn, there's a ton of barns where I am.
Maybe i should go check them for guns
Found an old pellet rifle complete with primitive rail and a German scope that says "DIELER".
Rusty and doesn't function anymore though, but always fun to have.
Oh just remembered that I found a SS helmet in the same barn as well, but scumbag cousin stole it and probally sold it. :V

some latvian friend of mine dug up a MP40 (and some ammo) from his grandfather's farm
it's in good condition apart from the rusty as shit magazine.
I somehow think that the picture is unrelated.
MP40 and H&K Mk23 are the same gun now?
yah, can't you tell by that very "rusty as shit" magazine?
yah, can't you tell by that very "rusty as shit" magazine?
"rusty as shit" magazine is now the same thing as a brand new magazine?
Obvious sarcasm is undetectable now I guess.
Oh god are you serious.

A guy I know has a Honda so here's a picture of a BMW 3.
[sp]Makes just about as much sense as posting a Mk23 when talking about MP40s.[/sp]
Except a Modern handgun and a WWII era submachine gun are easily distinguishable. It'd be more like Deuce-and-a-half to a to a M3.
Perhaps he wanted to post pictures of a sexy gun while talking about something else. Also, text is hearsay, if it's illegal to own an MP40 in Latvia then text can be seen as lying to sound cool, but a picture is incriminating.
To be honest, that picture was kind of pointless. I mean, in this thread we talk about firearms all the time, there's no need to post a picture of an unrelated gun to underline the fact you're talking about a gun...
But yeah, starting a big argument about it is a bit excessive.
He could've been talking about an M&P40 :downs:
Welp. Going to North Dakota for a week to get use to the area before moving. Time to put my guns in extremely obnoxious places, and put the bullets in a locked container. Can't let my niece and nephew get hurt, and I've gotta make sure my brother-in-law doesn't use my guns while I'm gone.
Also... I've just noticed that all the parts on my Gew 98 are matching. Once again, aside from a little rust... It's not pitted, it cycles perfectly, and is missing the handguard.
Lets just say I'm an idiot, and impulse bought a rifle for $150, and forgot I don't own a safe. I've got one for my Makarov, but I lack a rifle safe.
Why do you need a safe?
Just don't want anyone playing around with my rifle while I'm gone. Also... Does anyone know where I could buy original forward and backward sights for the Gew 98?

So children don't get into your guns. My grandfather has a gun cabinet that didn't have a lock, and I've had my cousins trying to get into them before.
I don't have kids I don't worry about that shit. Not spending perfectly good rifle money on a metal box.
That being said I really wish I had perfectly good rifle money. Classic Firearms, in honor of their new website, found and posted 7 91/30 Dragoon Era rifles with matching serial numbers. All 'new', never fired. Manufactured in Tula.

I want one so fucking badly. But they'll be sold before I can get $150
It's a requirement by law over here. It's still awful handy to have a safe place to store your guns and valuable stuff.
Do you have an attic you could shove it into for a while until you can get a safe? Either that or put it up somewhere high and inconspicuous. It's far from perfect, but it's better than nothing.
I plan on putting it on safety, and hiding it up high. The bullets will be put into an entirely different room in a locked case.
Mosins are great rifles but they're a crap shoot as far as accuracy and quality goes. Sometimes even the most pristine Mosin-Nagant will shoot like shit but one that looks like ass with a barrel barely pushing "good" will shoot really well. Check your local gun shops too. I got mine at Mills Fleet Farm for $100.

damn it my automerge
They don't shoot like shit, most front sight posts get messed up so the end up shooting to the left or right. Throw a scope on there and you can get 2 MOA out of a stock rifle.
The Sport Shooters Association of Australia has a saying; "Secure your gun, secure your sport"
It's a good idea

Just get a trigger lock man

What an effective method, not like it can be stolen and then removed at a safer location, can it?
