Why is it that 5.45x39 cant go into drum magazines?
...It should, as far as I know. [editline]22nd May 2012[/editline] In the RPK-74, the story goes that one day a Russian was trialing the RPK-74 with a drum, then looked at a magazine and thought that 45 round mags would work fine.
Ive heard that 5.45x39 cant go into drum magazines? Why?
Probably because it needs a constant curve to feed reliably, like 5.56
Probably because it needs a constant curve to feed reliably, like 5.56
But aren't there 5.56 drums for the L86?
But aren't there 5.56 drums for the L86?
Drums on a bullpup looks very uncomfortable. I havent used a bullpup in my life but still
I'm very sure there are drums for the L86 LSW, as it's supposed to be Light Support Weapon as far as I know, but then, I've also heard that L86 LSW was a piece of crap too :v: Scratch that, according to world.guns.ru, it was disliked due to small magazine size by machinegun standards, and it's only listed 30 rnd mags. (Yep, for once I googled something and cited the source)
offtopic and probably been asked numerous times, but what would you guys recommend for home defence? I'm only asking as a halfway house full of bums has opened up in my neighborhood and has resulted in a string of burglaries. I'm tempted to opt for an SKS due to cost and abundance of ammunition, or perhaps a .20g or .12g pump action.
I like how Prussle is an expert on every firearm ever made. He also finds every reason to talk someone out of buying what they want and making them buy a fucking nugget, fuck you and your shit Prussle whislt you can be helpful and knowledgable sometimes. Unless you own the rifle in question, had experiance shooting it or know someone who owns it, dont go fucking talking it down because of something you heard once on the internet. /rant over.

His grammar might be poor, but overall he has a point. Prussle is a firearms genius [editline]23rd May 2012[/editline] I kid, he's a moron
Hey Hey We're all brothers in arms here. Stop fighting [sup][sup][sup]and Tikkas suck[/sup][/sup][/sup]

The louder the action the better, you might scare them off before you have to shoot them. [editline]23rd May 2012[/editline] You also probably want cylinder or at tightest modified choke, full or tighter will suck for close range stuff inside a house
hahaha really? that's rich
I'm not saying you shouldn't be prepared to kill, but if they shit themselves and tell all their buddies not to fuck with you, you win twice.
hahaha really? that's rich
Would you stay around if you were breaking in somewhere and heard a clear shotgun pump sound?
The free gun I got from the military :)
If you seriously believe that racking the pump scares off home intruders then you're buying into Hollywood and urban legends.
You're far to pessimistic, not every criminal is a stone cold killer that doesn't fear for his life. If I break into someones house and I hear them awake with a gun, I'm not sticking around.
The free gun I got from the military :)
I'm awful with those models of firearms, is it an SSG550?
I'm awful with those models of firearms, is it an SSG550?
Yep. I also have a pistole (the 220 if i recall correctly). After my service is done i can keep them both.
Yep. I also have a pistole (the 220 if i recall correctly). After my service is done i can keep them both.
Is this a standard thing where you live?
Yeah. The swiss army arms the nation for we are always prepared :).
If you seriously believe that racking the pump scares off home intruders then you're buying into Hollywood and urban legends.
You have got to be the most negative and confrontational person I've ever seen in my entire life. Seriously, why are you even here? To put everyone in a bad mood?
Yeah. The swiss army arms the nation for we are always prepared :).
So... how hard is it to become a Swiss citizen, eh? :v: [editline]23rd May 2012[/editline]
You have got to be the most negative and confrontational person I've ever seen in my entire life. Seriously, why are you even here? To put everyone in a bad mood?
I dunno, it's less pessimism and more realism. I'm sure that the sound of a gun is likely to scare off a good percentage of most would-be thieves, but he's got a point: If you've got the gun and you're holding it, be prepared to use it.
Wire surround to start playing let the bodies hit the floor on command, grab a shotgun and scare the shit out of some sorry excuse of a burglar.
Strobe lights too. Possibly hand-load semen or anchovies into shotgun shells
So... how hard is it to become a Swiss citizen, eh? :v: [editline]23rd May 2012[/editline]
Pretty easy i think. Only without being born here you can't go to the military. Funny thing is i started shooting with 14. If you go to a "gun-club" you get sponsored by the army with a rifle. Even the rounds are payed. Love it
I want to get a Beretta PX4 in 9mm. Are there any alternatives that are cheaper or equal in price? Glock 17s are $100 more everywhere I look, and the Springfield XDm is even more.

If they're around the $500 range the alternative would be the FNP's and CZ's which are pretty damn good.
Yeah, everywhere I look they are $500. I didn't even think to look at CZs, thanks for the reminder.
