Let's get this thread back on track... My most recent acquisition, a Norinco SKS! Apparently it's a paratrooper version, which has a sexy shortened barrel. [img_thumb]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9329839/IMG_0441.JPG[/img_thumb]

I'm not kidding, I wouldn't buy an SKS or Mosin that didn't have the bayonet, no matter what country it was from, especially since the bayonets on SKSes are attached to the goddamn gun.
No help with the two rifles?

If you look at the muzzle it has a bayonet lug for an AK style bayonet.
No help with the two rifles?
If you can get some clearer pics tomorrow in the sun, it would help greatly. Also photos of the markings on the barrel and/or receiver.
How do you guys feel about Norinco products? I've always been extraordinarily hesitant to purchase anything from them because they're Chinese manufactured. Chinese=/=Quality
How do you guys feel about Norinco products? I've always been extraordinarily hesitant to purchase anything from them because they're Chinese manufactured. Chinese=/=Quality
norinco stuff is amazing quality for the price
How do you guys feel about Norinco products? I've always been extraordinarily hesitant to purchase anything from them because they're Chinese manufactured. Chinese=/=Quality
I have a JW-2000 Coach and IMO it's made very well. I have not fired it yet, as I only get paid every two weeks and cannot afford slugs (or the admission to a range, god damn highway robbery) but the barrel is very smooth on the inside, the wood is clean and unmarred.

Chinese=/=Quality
Norinco is usually the exception, they tend to make quality firearms. As well as many unlicensed C96 copies made there before and during WW2 up to the current day that were of excellent quality. China makes quality guns, it's just that China also doesn't make quality guns. Just depends on what you're buying, really. Don't buy something that looks like it was put together by children in a sweat shop and you're good.
Is Norinco state owned? Correct me if I'm wrong but the PRC is a command market economy, right, with mostly state owned enterprises?
Is Norinco state owned? Correct me if I'm wrong but the PRC is a command market economy, right, with mostly state owned enterprises?
I believe they were state owned at one point, but they are no longer. I'm not entirely sure though.
Isn't Norinco on the import ban list?
Norincos will be hard to find and expensive when you do, since they were banned from importation in I think 1994.
My Coach gun was pretty cheap. I only paid $250 for it.
only their rifles and pistols were banned in 1994, everything else was banned in 2004 because they were selling missile related goods to iran it's a load of bullshit imo. clinton was a fucktard
Why the fuck does everything good have to be banned. Also don't you hate on my saxophone-lovin' prezzy <3

Can anybody explain why the AK system and the Mosin Nagant are so reliable? What in their mechanics makes them so durable? Few moving parts, material, assembly?
Can anybody explain why the AK system and the Mosin Nagant are so reliable? What in their mechanics makes them so durable? Few moving parts, material, assembly?
For the AK, big parts with lots of gaps. Essentially they made it to such loose standards that any dirt inside the mechanism wouldn't even touch the moving parts. The fact that it uses a piston instead of direct impingement(looking at you Eugine Stoner) also did a great job keeping carbon fouling out of the receiver. As for the Nagant, it's a bolt action rifle. There really isn't a whole lot that can go wrong with them.

This in term evolved into the AR-18 that was developed after he left armalite to work for colt. That rifle influenced the SA80, AUG, and the G36. So in a way Eugine Stoner helped develop some of the best rifles out there. The more you know.
Can anybody explain why the AK system and the Mosin Nagant are so reliable? What in their mechanics makes them so durable? Few moving parts, material, assembly?
They were built to withstand drunks with anger management issues.

I was thinking about getting some wood furniture for my Romanian AK47 ( http://www.classicfirearms.com/product-specials/romanian-wasr10 ) Was wondering if anyone knew any that would work with it, and had a wood foregrip on it, like this one
I personally find that foregrip made of wood ugly. Better to get polymer furniture for the hand guard with an under rail and use a real foregrip.
I dig wood, but composite-plastic style stuff isn't bad either, if a wood foregrip, stock, and pistol grip aren't easy to find I'll just stick with the newer stuff.

Well it is ROMANIAN.
Anyone familiar with open carry laws? I wanna open carry a Flintlock pistol I'm gonna build next week to a Ren Faire here in Idaho to piss off the bastards, they're idiots who wear pirate outfits and make guns from plumbing pipe and 2x4s then claim to be expert gunsmiths (Just like on American Guns actually). I gather the property owner can ask someone to leave and charge them with trespassing if they don't, but what about event coordinators and/or staff?

[editline]29th May 2012[/editline] Even if it's an unloaded flintlock pistol, which probably takes about 30 seconds to load which means by the time you've loaded it someone's already realized what you're up to and full-body tackled you :v:
