My Mosin was from 1943, but I can't read russian, so I can't tell where it's from.
And I think the bayonet is for a M1938 :v:

you can check the stamps on the bolt and receiver to tell where its from. Ishvesk is an arrow inside a triangle IIRC.
Aren't optics on the dust cover a generally bad idea?
Usually yes, but that one mounts onto the rear-sight mount so it's plenty secure.
Also, does anyone make replica Springfield trapdoor rifles?
this reminds me of all the other times you've gotten pissy over what other people are doing
Oh I'm sorry I didn't realize it had at some point in time become acceptable to treat firearms like fucking toys and act like a five year old with them.
My bad.

Thanks! I don't think so, just cleaned the bore and action and everything and removed the cosmoline out of that.
I got it at a gunshow, so I'm not sure if the guy selling it did it beforehand.

Springfields? Not that I know of
But there are wonderful Long rifles made by Harrington and Richardson, their Handi Rifle (Originally made in 1871) is still being made today, in a variety of calibers. The picture is the "shotgun" version.

Soft recoil, great little sights, dead accurate, stupid easy to clean, and awesome with .45 Long Colt.
The only issue is that the ammo is smokey, and tends to gum up the barrel after 20-30 rounds, so bring a ramrod if you're going all out. The ammo is also a bit expensive, and I don't know if it takes .45 ACP.
Ok, yeah I know about the H&Rs. I may look into those.

At the moment, on their website they don't have .45 Long Colt, but I know I we have one.
You can get the long colt ones beefed up to .454 Casull :v:

Ah. I don't know the value of M1911's so I can't tell you if it's worth $750, but it's nice looking at least!

If there was still cosmoline in the receiver and barrel he probably didn't. I've seen similar stuff at Shoot Straight. They just wipe it off the outside of the weapon so people can handle it to inspect it without getting grease all over themselves.
I wouldn't worry about it too much. Just bring some rags or paper towels with you when you shoot it. Put between 40 and 60 rounds through it and it'll heat up quick and the cosmoline will start to sweat from the stock. Just wipe it down.
Ishevesk is probably one of the most important arms manufacturers ever, they made a ton of guns for the Soviet Military to help them push the Germans out of the USSR.
Didn't they go bankrupt though?
I have a 1935 Tula hex receiver. Mwhahaha.

After we bought it we shot it after some quick cosmoline cleaning, the stock was greasy as hell, and got greasier after we shot it, so we wiped it down afterwords and everything.
It isn't very greasy or slipper now, and i'm not sure if the cosmoline changes the wood's color, but it still looks the same the day I got it. We put about 40 surplus rounds (Not to worry, I clean it religiously after every time I shoot corrosive ammunition) through it, but only 39 fired, one bullet was missing a primer :V
Alright, so right now I'm not sure if I want a new Marlin 30-30, an 8mm Mauser, a SMLE, or a Jungle Carbine. All 4 are available easily to me right now.
I love my Marlin Model 336.
My grandfather has a Kar98az (I think that's what it's called.) On the receiver, it says
"DANZIG
1910"
Then a stamp of a crown.

Mauser, SMLE's are still being dug up in Iraq, and Junge Carbines stay cheap.
Yup here we go

Izhmash bankrupted
d'aww Izhmash went bankrupt?
Izhevsk is still in business though.
Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures of my grandfather's rifle, but I believe it does say Karabiner 98 on it's receiver if i recall correctly
I'm 100% sure it says the DANZIG stuff on it, and google searches led me to believe it's a Kar98az.
I'll buy it from you.
How much do you want
He doesn't want.
[editline]10th June 2012[/editline]
Anything.
Let him answer for himself.
lol There's no way in fuck my grandfather or I will ever sell it, he got it from his father and he's going to give it to me one day. I'll probably give it to my son if I ever have one, my grandfather and I both would never sell it, sorry man.
Point one. He said no.
Point two. He said no.
Point three. Why not?

The fuck is your problem
He said no to me jokingly saying 'gimmie' and then I just casually offered to buy it and asked what he wanted. I don't know if it has any significance it has to him that would be something he would explain while telling me he didn't want to sell it.
Also the hell is "Both of them said no" coming from? I only talked to cardfan

What? Sorry, no, death. I was talking about Cardfan's rifle, not yours.
