Why are they so goddamn cheap in Canada?

Love the navy packaging on this, it's a water proof capsule right?
Love the navy packaging on this, it's a water proof capsule right?
You bet!
Why are they so goddamn cheap in Canada?
The motherland supports its socialist brothers overseas :ussr: [editline]12th June 2012[/editline] If you want an actual answer I believe the import restrictions are much looser when it comes to countries like China and Russia in Canada.
Can anybody lead me in the direction of an affordable Enfield to purchase online along with bulk surplus ammo?
Why are they so goddamn cheap in Canada?
They're not cheap in Canada, they're expensive in the US. When American gun manufacturers realized that russian/chinese products were just as good as US ones but costed a fraction, they pushed for various import bans instead of making better/cheaper shit.
Can anybody lead me in the direction of an affordable Enfield to purchase online along with bulk surplus ammo?
Surplus .303 doesn't exist, other than Indian and Paki surplus, which are shit. I'd never feed my enfield anything like that.
I didn't think and Paki and Indian surplus still existed, otherwise they'd be importing into Australia
What should I look for when I buy an Enfield? In particular I'm looking for a No.4 Mk1.
I don't think there is a difference, or I can't find one from looking at AVT's and SVT's
The AVT stock is slightly shorter, I believe, and has a notch on both sides of the stock for the safety. On an SVT down is safe, up on the left is fire, on an AVT it has a notch for the safety on the right too because up on the right is automatic. After they stopped making AVTs they put SVT mechanisms in AVT stocks because they're both the same size. Long Branch were some of the most accurate Enfields made. Also, make sure India's Ishapore arsenal never touched it.
http://www.classicfirearms.com/c-r-eligible/yugo-m24-47-8mm-mauser-rifle http://www.classicfirearms.com/yugo-m75-8mm-mauser-ammunition-300-rds-20-boxes-in-a-can Ok so I averted my search from an Enfield for now and decided on a Mauser. How does this look?
Looks like a average price... I saw some on Impact Guns for the same price, they also have some M48 Yugo Mauser's if those interest you. M48 http://www.impactguns.com/rifle-surplus-yugo-mauser-m48-8mm-vg.aspx M24/47 http://www.impactguns.com/mauser-m2447-yugo-8mm-vg-m2447.aspx Just thought I would share... peace.
Also, I have a .30cal bore snake that works great in my Nugget, could I use that in a Mauser?
So we've had this tactical mini-14 with folding stock for probably 2 years, and we've fired it a whole 3 times. $850 spent on something we never use and I'm fed up with it. I don't understand how we own 2 shotguns, 4 rifles, and a pistol and don't go target shooting more than once a year. [editline]12th June 2012[/editline] Well I'm 18 in 4 months, I guess I'll just buy my own ammo and take claim on my Mosin and that 14.
Also, I have a .30cal bore snake that works great in my Nugget, could I use that in a Mauser?
Can't see why not.
Alright, I just need to contact my local FFL and I'm going to get that Mauser and the ammo from Classic Firearms.
Also, I have a .30cal bore snake that works great in my Nugget, could I use that in a Mauser?
It won't do as good of a job. 7.62 is ~.30 cal. But a Mauser is 8mm, so the snake won't scrub the bore as well
It won't do as good of a job. 7.62 is ~.30 cal. But a Mauser is 8mm, so the snake won't scrub the bore as well
What would you recommend then?
What would you recommend then?
I have a boresnake in the caliber of each of my guns.
Wait, never mind, Hoppes has an 8mm bore snake I guess.
I don't think there is a difference, or I can't find one from looking at AVT's and SVT's
AVT stocks have the full auto selector cutout on the right side. They're also thicker and made out of better wood.
Also, I have a .30cal bore snake that works great in my Nugget, could I use that in a Mauser?
They have 8mm bore snakes, :edit: Whoops late.

can someone explain the difference between rounds from those measured in a . form like .22 or .303 and those measured mm like 9mm or 5.56x45mm
Imperial vs metric. American rounds are usually in imperial (unless it's a NATO-standard round), everywhere else in metric.
Just remember: .45 ACP is 11.43x23mm. STALKER taught me that :3
For rounds like .30-06 Spr - .30 is the diameter - -06 is the year it was first introduced (1906) - Spr means the original maker (Springfield).
Then you got shit like the .45-70-405 which is the .45 - diameter 70 - powder used (grains) 405 - bullet weight: lead (grains)
For metric rounds. 5.56x45mm 5.56 is the projectile diameter in millimetres, 45 is the case length (not the overall length) in millimetres In 7.62x54r, the "r" means the cartridge has a rim
Reminds me, what is a "parent case" 'cause I keep finding this term popping up and it quirks the hell out of me. Something about a 'parent case' is a casing that other not-so-very-popular commercial casings are based off of, yet to me that sounds like a total hassle.
