I'm sure you guys all know about that shoestring machine gun thing, but why does it classify as a machine gun? the trigger gets pulled once for each shot, there's no springs or anything either so it's not like it's a separate mechanism designed to create automatic fire.
It's no different from using a bump stick or slidefire, which are both unregulated
but it's a single function of the trigger
I need to write the ATF
[editline]24th June 2012[/editline]
if not to get the shoestring trick legal, it'll be to call them a bunch of cockheads
So two questions regarding side mount rails...
1. How do I mount one to my AK? I assume no smithing is required?
2. Cheapest one for my Mosin that requires no smithing?
of course smithing is required?
gotta rivet
siderail? gotta smith there too
rivet and outlet the stock
Ehh damn. Gotta get a book on this shit I suppose. Off to Amazon to buy tools and books.
I seen a lot of dodgy home made silencers in my day, never seen one that wasn't totally shit haha.
The ones that my classmates made were made of steel, none of that cotton-in-coke-can shit
Alright gents, so I'm about to drop a bit of money on this:
http://www.wayfair.com/Firefield-PU-Mosin-Nagant-SVT-40-Scope-FF13024-FFD1074.html
How hard would you guys say it is to tap a Nagant receiver for the PU scope? I have access to a drill-press, so toolage isn't an issue, just skill. I'm fairly competent when it comes to tools in general, I just need to know if this is something a fudd like me can do.
pretty easy, just be sure to get everything measured and marked first
pretty easy, just be sure to get everything measured and marked first
What does tapping the receiver actually entail? Am I drilling through the wall of the receiver entirely, or just part-way? If you could dig up a guide, that'd be fantastic. Everything I've found has been shit.
the mosin snipers that got plugged all have the holes all the way through the wall
the mosin snipers that got plugged all have the holes all the way through the wall
Alright, that should be good enough to work with. I'm sure it comes with a mounting guide, considering it's a reproduction.
I went to a machine gun shoot today on some dude's ranch. There were about 20 people there.
One guy had two Thompsons, an M1928 and an M1 (an actual M1, as in no cutts and L-shaped rear sight), another guy had an M1928, one guy had a M1918 BAR, and another guy had a grease gun. The guy who put on the whole deal had brought out an M3 37mm anti-tank gun, which fired three times when I was there. There were also SBRs and suppressed weapons. One guy had a suppressed AK underfolder.
There were also two period Willys Jeeps there, one driven by two guys in full USGI gear who brought along a Navy .308 Garand, an M1 Carbine, and an M1A. One of the guys was shooting offhand with the Garand standing up at 600 yards at a torso-sized target and hitting it most times.

I was kind of disappointed because there were no belt-feds, even though I heard there was supposed to be. Ended up talking to one of the guys there, said he usually brings out his M1917 and M1919 (also has another M3 AT gun, but didn't have any shells) but he never got around to loading the cloth belts.
In Australia, suppressors were legal until 1996 when everything else was banned. Problem is, they were never registered, and several hundred thousand were made. Realisticly there would be over 100k of them in Australia, possibly more.
After they banned them, a company was marketing "spark suppressors", the idea was that they reduce the chance of muzzle flash starting fires. In reality they were suppressors, lasted a few years though

At a local gun show I found a non-smithing rail for the Mosin, it just replaced the rear sight and turned it into a rail. I really haven't found any others like it online, though.
Tell me why I shouldn't buy a Mini-14 for shooting "practical" (Norwegian run & gun) and hunting beavers.

Norwegian run and gun? Mini-14?
Breivik is that you?
Hunting beavers? I thought they were endangered

A few sub-species are vulnerable but for the most part they're pretty widespread.
A few sub-species are vulnerable but for the most part they're pretty widespread.
Ohk, I don't know much about them as we don't see them too often down in Oz :P

But would a shitty gun get that highscore?
[sub][sub]oh god I'm a horrible person[/sub][/sub]

Many scores in fact. Spree killers love the mini-14 apparently
Many scores in fact. Spree killers love the mini-14 apparently
I'm pretty sure more murders have been committed with mini-14s as apposed to ARs, which is funny since the weapons ban had the AR in it by name.

Cometa 300. Spanish, hand-made breakbarrel air rifle. I have one and it's amazing. Google up some reviews.

Read up and go buy one.
Because they're pretty shitty
I know the "hurr mini-14 is shit" and all that jazz, but I want something for practical shooting, and I don't want to wait the 2 years required before I can buy an AR, I can just as well sell the Mini-14 after 2 years and then buy an AR
watched a video of a 1898 krag last night
what a seriously cool rifle
[editline]25th June 2012[/editline]
also i think I really want a 10/22 or marlin m60
