http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RLk7pDYLm0w Safety checks pretty funny
he's an epic troll sadly he'll probably cause some actual idiots to neglect firearms safety and shoot themselves.
I think they did that on Mythbusters once. Except it was bullet-proofing a car with phonebooks. IIRC, a couple layers of them was enough to stop everything short of high-powered rounds like .338 Lapua, .416 Barrett, etc.
The phonebooks didn't stop the 338, 416 or 50.
pssh mythbusters just goes for big "bang" and flashiness, they don't test individual bullets within a caliber. (hence why I call it crap) box of truth tests SS109 With the ~13 inches of paper they were using in that experiment, they could have penetrated it with .30-06 AP or even 7.62x54R out of a dragunov or nugget. Instead they opted for big-ass catridges like the .338 lapua (or was it norma?) even .45-70 works .30-06 with AP ammo aww yeah bizznatch
The phonebooks didn't stop the 338, 416 or 50.
So you're telling me that rounds designed as Anti-materiel can rip through things?
That's cool and all that a shit ton of phone books can stop bullets, but if you stack enough shit in a row it can stop bullets. Do the same for bricks, steel, ceramic, etc and it does the same thing. Its a cool concept but entirely unpractical.
Brotip: 7,62x54R is usually recognised as slightly more "powerful" than .30-06.
yeah but it tumbled more in paper, only penetrated 15 inches in both shots because it was deflected (on both shots) http://www.theboxotruth.com/docs/bot31_4.htm so less effective for the sort of thing they were trying.
I think the funniest thing mythbusters did was testing shooting through a scope and into the other snipers eye. They didn't use match ammo or test elevation and expected it to go through.
Brotip: 7,62x54R is usually recognised as slightly more "powerful" than .30-06.
Actually, .30-06 is slightly better, but the difference is so minimal it's barely worth mentioning.
When it comes to military rounds they're either very similar or 54R has a slight advantage. Obviously factory loads and handloads are more "powerful" considering .30-06 has more powder capacity.
yeah and the tester is using vintage military ammo

Also my streamlight TLR2 is coming in the mail today. Never been so excited to see the UPS driver ever.
If you saw the episode, and I remember it correctly when retelling it, the Mythbusters didn't just slap a fuckton of phone books onto a car and shoot at it, I'm pretty sure they did penetration testing at a range before covering a van in paper and driving it in the middle of an abandoned mine, then shooting at it.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RLk7pDYLm0w Safety checks pretty funny
THE HORROR!

Mother of god. Yes, it's a 5.7x28 AR upper that takes P90 mags.

I personally love the look of the P90's. A friend's gonna help me find a scope and mount for it. :)
An excellent first gun I must say! Congrats. :)
Nothing very new about that, they've been out for a good few years.
Well, it's the first time I heard about it. That magazine looks incredibly good on a traditional-looking rifle, I wonder why they haven't made something similar for a less gimmicky round.
9x39
That delicious forbidden fruit... Legal gizmos aside, would it be that hard to handload it somehow (the case is a necked 7,62x39 IIRC) and make an AK barrel for it?
I'd rejoice too if the damn ammo wasn't so damned expensive.
About the same cost as .223, but not as good of a defensive round.
Got my TLR2 mounted. Pretty awesome, a really powerful light from such a small piece of hardware. Plus the laser. Not surprised though, the price and name really says it all. All i need to do is change the sights on it and I'll have a good duty weapon. From what I understand once that does it will make the ammo more available due to more people making it.
Props on the Leatherman. I have an original PST that I still carry daily.
