pretty much everyone knows remington is shit nowadays sorry bad materials, horrid qc and shitty finishing among other problems
Sounds like Taurus. Got a PT1911 from them, but the barrel was apparently milled off-center in the slide, so it shot about 18" low at 25 yards, our 80 year old GI 1911A1 shoots way better than that. So we sent it back, got it back with a new slide a month later. Course the 'new' slide looked like this: So we sent it back again, took a few more weeks to get it back. The breech face was not milled flat so the cartridge was sitting all crooked in the gun, also making it hit off center and dig into the primer. So yeah, this one shot like ass too, 6" left and 14" low at 25 yards. We're having them send an entirely new gun now, it's just a matter of waiting for it to get here. Hopefully it won't be a lemon like the last one.

I shot one at a range too, though the one I was using wasn't as bad as you describe it. I mean, it was pretty poor compared to other guns I tried, but it wasn't half bad.
sorry to hear that man, but taurus is fucking horrible, you should get the money back and get something better. it's potmetal cast by brazilian labour.
Oh trust me, it wasn't my idea to pick that one up and I wasn't terribly optimistic about it even before we put rounds on paper, or rather off the paper. Only gun I'm interested in buying right now is one of those Ruger SR-556 rifles, all my other guns are gonna be built my me.
pretty much everyone knows remington is shit nowadays sorry bad materials, horrid qc and shitty finishing among other problems r700: silver soldered bolt handle (what were they thinking???) horrible trigger stocks that can make you cry; soft and prevents any form of free floating extractors that snap if a round sticks r870: finished so bad that sweat from your hands can make the thing rust absolutely horrible extractor, snaps, breaks and twists from nothing at all pump is so loosely fitted that it rattles around their 1911 is made out of pot metal and nobody buys any of their other guns considering they're all obsolete, overcomplicated and/or just pure dumb. most of the companies that freedom group has are fucking terrible either way so it is no big loss
Have you actually handled any of these guns new? Because I never had an issue like that with my 870, nor the 770, which is the cheap ass version of the R700. And their 1911s are not made of pot metal.
I've heard the stories but I've never experienced any of them because I don't throw my guns around
I do go hunting with mine and it's still fine.
Everyone I know with Remingtons have semi-old ones, and they have no issues with their rifles. I sold my late uncles 870 to classmate, same guy bought a used 700 and cambered it in .300 Win mag

Have you ever handled any of these weapons, let alone fire them? "Pump is so loosely fitted that it rattles around". Turns out, not on my 870! "Terrible trigger", so you'd rather have a trigger equal to charging a ballista? State your damned sources that aren't /k/. [editline]1st July 2012[/editline] Also, your comment on the stocks, also bullshit, my R700 kicks, but less then a Nagant (which you've also never fired because you bought a fake one instead)
less then a Nagant (which you've also never fired because you bought a fake one instead)
... except he has a working M44?
What are you even talking about? The 870's pump wiggles around on many of them. The 700's trigger is horrible and has creep. The stock is soft and wiggly and lets the barrel touch it. It's not fucking wool soft, I'm saying that the plastic is very bendable. Try a reading comprehension course. And I have fired a nagant thank you, you need to stop using HUR U BOHT A DEAC NUGETST as an argument considering it's gotten me spare parts, an extra stock and I've gotten used to the action before getting the live rifle.
I've never heard that you are getting parts, but the 700s trigger is quite fine on ours, it's quite nice and light.
I will agree about a loose pump on an 870 but nothing you're saying about the 700 is accurate. [editline]1st July 2012[/editline] or at least not problematic
trigger is fine stock is fine and idk what your fetish with free floated barrels is about but they really don't provide as much of an advantage as you think if you've got synthetic furniture bolt handle is definitely silver soldered but it hasn't proven to be a problem and I rack my bolt pretty hard the extractors are fine and you're the only person I've ever heard complain about the extractors
-Snip- Gonna repost it once Prussel stops shitting up the thread.
So then don't fire several rounds in rapid succession? It's a bolt action rifle, not a machine gun. A lot of your points could simply be cause of someone using the rifle in the wrong situation
Guys guys How about we all shut the fuck up about this whole ordeal and keep discussing firearms in a well-mannered fashion, avoiding shit-flinging by both sides?
extractor the barrel not being free floated is a problem on the bigger calibre models (.308win, 7mm remmag, .300 win mag) when you fire 3, 4 or even 5 rounds in rapid succession and the barrel starts heating up. metal expands when hot. this is basic knowledge. when it starts touching the stock the barrel will be disturbed and if you're looking for accuracy it'll throw off shots. the stock shouldn't move when it's laid onto something or held.
Mine's in .270 Winchester and it takes a lot more than 3, 4, or 5 shots to get the barrel hot enough to cause problems. with around 5 seconds between each shot, I can finish off a whole case of ammo before it starts getting any hotter than ambient temperature
pretty much everyone knows remington is shit nowadays sorry
At least they sell guns that fire...to people who want a functioning gun.
Try getting a working gun you cunt. (User was banned for this post ("Flaming" - Craptasket))
i know three people with new 870s that all have issues with the finish. one of those also have a 700 which extractor snapped after a couple rounds. local gun store had two 870s in at once with broken extractors. go google and you'll find that i'm not the only one saying they're bad.
wtf are you smoking Ive been using a post-2006 870 regularly for like 4 years and I haven't had even the slightest hint of an issue with it
i'm probably smoking what thousands of other people are too since a load of people complain about the bad finish and qc on new 870s?
maybe the ones you get in viking land are shitty or something like seriously mine has absolutely no problems. I think its maybe stovepiped like twice in its lifetime, most likely due to the person using it pumping it too slowly. It has virtually no play in the handgaurd, and I personally like the finish on it better than the finish on my Beretta. I see a lot of 1100s and 11-87s at my club too, everyone likes them [editline]1st July 2012[/editline] basing all of your knowledge off what you read on internet forums is stupid, just so you know
My 870 is wonderful actually. All you need to do is heat up all steel with a blow dryer then rub in some BreakFree. Rust problem solved right there. Also no extractor problems whatsoever and the gun just eats through slugs and buckshot with ease. The the other day it took about 75 rounds of 1oz slug and 00buck in rapid succession with ease.
I try not to be biased on Remington since I live 10 min away from the factory but I personaly have never had a problem with any of their products nor has anyone I know. I happen to think any 870 is a great gun.

[img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/CXNcA.jpg[/img_thumb] Winchester 94 in .30-30 I got on the cheap cause it has a little bit of rust. The guy that sold it to me didn't realize it was just surface rust... :v:
ive been shooting only AK's and russian/com block weapons for like a year now when i got into guns and today for the first time ever i shot an Olympic arms AR which was my friends dads that looks just like an m16a2 and i love me a good m16 it literally jammed every other round. i never knew AR's really sucked this bad. i mean when it would shoot i liked it but that was rare

The only gripe I have with the 700 is that comparing the smoothness of actuating almost every 700 at my store to the X-Bolts and Tikkas we have, the action feels rough in comparison. I've also heard rumours about faulty safeties, but I'm not sure on their credibility.
